複数の毛髪１１とベース部１２とは、糸状部材により一体に編まれて形成されている。一例ではあるが、毛髪１１及びベース部１２を一体に編むためには、公知の立毛製品（例えば、特開２０１３－２５５６６０号公報、特開２００１－１７３０３号公報、特開２００２－２１２８６４号公報参照）のように、ダブルラッセル機などを用いて立体編地を形成するとよい。例えば、互いに対向する２本の線状のベース地に対して、複数の毛髪１１及びベース部１２となる線状部材を編み込み、図２に示すように、２つのベース部１２と、これらの間に位置する輪（パイル）Ｐを形成する。そして、２つのベース部１２の間の中央で輪Ｐを切断することにより１つの輪Ｐから２本ずつ計４本の毛髪１１を形成する。これにより、毛髪１１と線状のベース部１２とが一体に編まれた増毛具１０を２つ製造することができる。なお、線状のベース地は、目立たないものであれば残してもよいが、例えば、ベース部１２内から引き抜くことで或いは溶剤で溶かすことで、増毛具１０から除去するとよい。
