Description
The present invention relates to a back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement device, a back light electron spectroscopy measurement substrate, and a back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement method.
The energy level is important in the electronic characteristics of semiconductors. Energy levels include occupied levels (valence bands) and empty levels (conduction bands). A general method for measuring the occupied level is photoelectron spectroscopy (PES), and a method for measuring the empty level is back-photoelectron spectroscopy (IPES) (see, for example, Non-Patent
IPES irradiates a sample with electrons with uniform energy and observes the light emission when the electrons relax to the empty level. Information on the density of states can be obtained from the energy of the sky level and the intensity of light as the difference between the energy of the irradiated electron and the light energy of light emission. IPES can be regarded as the reverse process of PES, and in principle, it is excellent as an empty level measurement method.
On the other hand, there is a problem that the signal strength is extremely low. According to theoretical research, the cross-sectional area of the IPES process with respect to the PES process, which can be regarded as the reverse process of IPES, is only about 10-3 in the X-ray region (1 keV) and about 10-5 in the vacuum ultraviolet region (10 eV) (for example, non-patented). Reference 2).
In order to overcome the above problems, a high-sensitivity bandpass photodetector has been used for light detection in a conventional device for performing IPES (see, for example, Non-Patent
However, while the energy resolution of the PES is usually 0.1 eV (1 meV or less in the state-of-the-art device), the energy resolution of the IPES is as low as about 0.5 eV and the signal strength is also weak. In addition, there is also a problem that organic molecules and biological samples are damaged due to irradiation with a high-intensity electron beam. For this reason, it has not been widely used.
By the way, one of the present inventors has developed the low-energy back-photoelectron spectroscopy (LEIPS) shown in
Therefore, in view of the above problems, it is an object of the present invention to provide a highly sensitive back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement device, a back light electron spectroscopy measurement substrate, and a back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement method with enhanced signal intensity.
As a result of diligent studies on the above issues, the present inventors have implemented a low-energy inverse electron spectroscopy (LEIPS) apparatus that detects visible light from near-ultraviolet light and surface plasmon resonance in order to increase the cross-sectional area of the IPES process. I got the idea that it is effective to combine them. As a result, it was discovered that the signal strength could be amplified, and the present invention was completed.

It has an electron irradiation device for irradiating the substrate with electrons, and a photodetector for measuring the light emitted from the measurement sample on the measurement substrate.
Although not limited, the plasmon coupling member of the measurement sample is preferably at least one of conductive nanoparticles, a diffraction grating, and a prism from each of the above viewpoints.
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a highly sensitive back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement device, a back light electron spectroscopy measurement substrate, and a back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement method with enhanced signal strength.

As is clear from the above description, the

Further, the

Further, the electrons irradiated by the
Further, the
The configuration of the
Further, in the
Since ordinary IPES detects light of 9.2-9.7 eV (vacuum ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 130 nm) as described above, surface plasmon resonance of metal (for example, Al and In is about 200 nm, Ag is about 340 nm, and Au is about 340 nm. The wavelength does not match with (about 510 nm). On the other hand, near-ultraviolet light of 200 nm to 500 nm is detected by using a low-energy reverse electron spectroscopy (LEIPS) apparatus as described above. Therefore, coupling with surface plasmon resonance of metal or the like becomes possible, and the IPES signal strength can be increased.

Here, as is clear from the above description, a back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement method (hereinafter referred to as “the present method”) using the
In this method, the measurement target sample S is arranged on the
According to this method, the IPES signal strength can be dramatically increased by using the signal enhancement effect of surface plasmon resonance. More specifically, it irradiates electrons to emit light. Then, this light can be coupled with the surface plasmon to increase the signal intensity from several times to 100 times. The biggest problem of the conventional IPES is that the signal strength is weak, and by solving this, it becomes possible to utilize the principle strength of the IPES, and the IPES can be widely spread. The more specific effects are as follows.
(1) Shortening of measurement time Conventionally, it took 30 minutes to several hours for measurement, but according to this device, it is possible to measure in several minutes. This increases the possibility of mass measurement and time-resolved measurement.
(2) Small amount measurement Even a small amount of sample can be measured. Conventionally, the size of a sample needs to be 1 mm 2 to 1 cm 2 or more, but the present invention enables measurement on a smaller sample and spatial decomposition such as microscopic measurement.
(3) High-resolution / high-precision measurement When the energy resolution is increased, the signal strength usually decreases in inverse proportion. However, by amplifying the signal strength with this device, high resolution measurement becomes possible in a realistic measurement time. As a result, IPES with unprecedented high resolution and high accuracy is realized.
Further, in addition to the above-mentioned features, the surface plasmon coupling member illustrated in this apparatus is generally inexpensive and brings about a large enhancement effect at a small cost, and can be easily made without making a major change in the apparatus itself. It is applicable and is expected to spread widely.
As described above, this device enables highly sensitive back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement with enhanced signal intensity, and by using this device, a highly sensitive back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement method can be realized.
Here, an actual experiment was conducted to verify the effect of the above device. Specifically, it will be shown below.
具体的には、3nmの平均膜厚では平均粒径が25nm(高低差10nm)、30nmの平均膜厚では平均粒径が160nm(高低差75nm)、50nmの平均膜厚では平均粒径が200nm(高低差80nm)であった。
First, a substrate made conductive by attaching an indium tin oxide (ITO) thin film to a 7 mm × 7 mm glass substrate (hereinafter referred to as “ITO substrate”), and silver nanoparticles formed by vacuum-depositing silver. (Substrate for back light electron spectroscopy measurement) was prepared. In this case, the average particle size of the silver nanoparticles was controlled by changing the average film thickness of the silver to be deposited. Specifically, the average particle size is 25 nm (
In addition to the above, a silver plate (bulk) whose surface was washed was used as a comparative example of this example.
Then, back photoelectron spectroscopy was performed on each of the prepared substrates using the back photoelectron spectroscopy measuring device described in Japanese Patent No. 6108361. The results are shown in FIGS. 9 to 11. In each of the above figures, the horizontal axis shows the electron energy (eV), the vertical axis shows the signal intensity, FIG. 9 shows the back light electron spectrum at the detection wavelength of 260 nm, and FIG. 10 shows the back light electron at the detection wavelength of 387 nm. The spectra are shown in FIG. 11, respectively, and the back light electron spectra at the detection wavelength of 434 nm are shown.
According to these results, there was no difference in signal intensity between those with an average film thickness of 3 nm, those with an average film thickness of 30 nm, and those with a bulk at the detection wavelength of 260 nm, but those with an average film thickness of 30 nm and 50 nm at the detection wavelength of 387 nm. The signal strength was three times that of the bulk one. Further, at the detection wavelength of 434 nm, the signal strength of the one having an average film thickness of 3 nm was three times that of the bulk. As a result, it was confirmed that the signal intensity was increased by using silver nanoparticles.
On the other hand, the measurement wavelength dependence of the back light electron spectrum signal intensity was determined for each of the above average film thicknesses of 3 nm, 30 nm, and 50 nm, and the extinction spectrum was measured for the same sample. The results are shown in FIGS. 12 and 13. According to this result, it was confirmed that the spectrum with an average film thickness of 3 nm was about 19 times larger than the spectrum measured at a wavelength of 260 nm, and the one with an average film thickness of 30 nm and 50 nm was 16 times larger. In addition, the extinction spectrum and the peak of the back photoelectron spectroscopy signal intensity distribution coincide with each other, confirming that the signal is enhanced by the surface plasmon resonance of the silver nanoparticles.
Next, copper phthalocyanine was deposited as a general substance of an organic semiconductor, which is an organic compound, on the prepared substrate, and back photoelectron spectroscopy measurement was performed. The results are shown in FIGS. 14 to 16, respectively. Further, as a comparative example, a product (CuPc / ITO) in which copper phthalocyanine was directly vapor-deposited on an ITO substrate was prepared, and the measurement was carried out in the same manner. The average film thickness of copper phthalocyanine was 1 nm to 50 nm. In these figures, the horizontal axis shows the energy based on the vacuum level, and the vertical axis shows the signal strength. Further, FIG. 14 shows a back light electron spectrum at a detection wavelength of 260 nm, FIG. 15 shows a back light electron spectrum at a detection wavelength of 387 nm, and FIG. 16 shows a back light electron spectrum at a detection wavelength of 434 nm. In these figures, the case where the average film thickness of copper phthalocyanine is set to 20 nm is shown as a representative.
また、検出波長434nmではCuPc20nm/Ag30nm、CuPc20nm/Ag50nmはそれぞれCuPc20nm/ITOに比べて2倍、5倍の信号増強となっていることを確認した。
According to these figures, at the detection wavelength of 260 nm, there was no difference in intensity between
また、CuPc20nm/Ag3nmよりもCuPc20nm/Ag30nm、CuPc20nm/Ag30nmよりもCuPc20nm/Ag50nmのほうが、逆光電子スペクトル強度と消光スペクトルの強度がともに強く、よく一致している。
In addition, the wavelength dependence of these backlit electron spectrum signal intensities was determined, and the extinction spectrum was also measured. The results are shown in FIGS. 17 and 18. In the back photoelectron spectroscopy signal intensity and quenching spectrum, it is difficult to judge only the plasmon absorption of silver nanoparticles because the light absorption of copper phthalocyanine overlaps, but the intensity increases at wavelengths longer than 300 nm, and the wavelength is generally. Match. Further,
As described above, it was confirmed that the signal enhancement of the back light electron spectrum was performed by the surface plasmon resonance by this example, and the usefulness of the present invention could be confirmed.
