Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus and an inspection method, for example, to an image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording medium using an electrophotographic method.
Conventionally, in a color image forming apparatus such as a color electrophotographic printer, a plurality of process units as an image forming unit including a photoconductor, a charging means, an exposure means, a developing means, and the like are used. In a tandem color image forming apparatus, such a process unit is referred to as black (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “K”), yellow (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “Y”), and magenta (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “M”). ) And cyan (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “C”) are arranged side by side, and the toner image is sequentially transferred to the paper which has been electrostatically attracted and conveyed on the conveying belt.
In such a conventional image forming apparatus, the print density may change depending on the sensitivity of the photoconductor, the change in the chargeability of the toner with time, the atmospheric temperature and humidity in which the apparatus is placed, and the like. Therefore, in the conventional image forming apparatus, the print density is detected and the density correction is performed at any time. Conventionally, there is a technique of
However, in the conventional image forming apparatus, there is a problem that the detection accuracy of the amount of black toner (print density of black toner) is lowered due to the deviation of the optical axes of the light emitting element and the light receiving element of the density sensor.

(A) Main Embodiments Hereinafter, one embodiment of the image forming apparatus and the inspection method according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

(A-1) Configuration of Embodiment FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a color
In FIG. 2, four independent printing mechanisms (image drum units) 101 to 104 are arranged in the color

As shown in FIG. 2, a paper feeding mechanism for supplying the paper P to the transport path is provided on the lower right side of the color

As shown in FIG. 3A, the
FIG. 3B shows an operation when the
As shown in FIG. 3 (b), the
As shown in FIG. 3C, the

[About the first problem in the concentration sensor 31]
A
Since black toner generally contains carbon as a pigment, black toner has a property of absorbing infrared light without reflecting it. However, some black toners on the market generally have a characteristic of reflecting light (for example, infrared light) (a characteristic of generating reflectance). This is due to, for example, the type and amount of additives other than carbon contained in the black toner.

The second problem is that the optical axis of the

On the other hand, FIG. 6B shows a case where the

Specifically, in the color

The density correction processing

The coefficient A (slope) and the coefficient B (intercept) obtained based on the linear approximation formula (linear function) shown are registered. The coefficient A (slope) and the coefficient B (intercept) of each color set in the sensor detection voltage-concentration value conversion table 47 may be set to suitable values by experiments, simulations, or the like. The table value of the developing voltage value adjustment amount table 48 is the amount of change in the density value when the developing voltage value changes by 1 [V] (hereinafter, also referred to as “development voltage value adjustment amount”). Since the thickness of the toner layer to be developed can be changed by changing the developing voltage, the mechanism control unit 35 uses this to increase / decrease (adjust) the density from the low duty portion to the high duty portion. Can be done.

DB(A)(KDB(A)、YDB(A)、MDB(A)、CDB(A))として求めるようにしてもよい。 YDB(A)、MDB(A)、CDB(A)についてもブラックと同様に、3通りのDuty(30%、70%、100%)に対する計算値の平均値を適用することができる。

In this embodiment, the development voltage value adjustment amount is calculated for each of the three types of Duty (30%, 70%, 100%) for each color, but the development voltage value control amount is one for each color regardless of the Duty. Since only can be determined, the average value of the calculated values for the three types of Duty (30%, 70%, 100%) is calculated as the development voltage value control amount DB (A) (KDB (A), YDB (A), MDB (A). ), CDB (A)) may be obtained. For example, when obtaining the black development voltage value control amount KDB (A), an equation such as the following equation (3) can be used. For the development voltage value control amounts YDB (A), MDB (A), and CDB (A) of other colors, the average value of the calculated values for the three types of duty (30%, 70%, 100%) is the same as for black. Can be applied.
KDB (A) = {(KOD 30- KOD T30 ) / ΔKDB 30

DB(A)(KDB(A)、YDB(A)、MDB(A)、CDB(A))を加算することで、各色の現像電圧補正後の現像電圧値DB1(KDB1、YDB1、MDB1、CDB1)を求めるようにしてもよい。

Then, the mechanism control unit 35 obtains the development voltage value DB 1 (KDB 1 , YDB 1 , MDB 1 , CDB 1 ) for each color during the printing operation, and supplies the development voltage values DB 1 (
Development voltage value after correction of development voltage KDB 1 [V] = DB 0 + KDB (A) ... (4)
KOD’30=K(A)×KV’30+K(B)…(5−1)
KOD’70=K(A)×KV’70+K(B)…(5−2)
KOD’100=K(A)×KV’100+K(B)…(5−3)
Next, when the mechanism control unit 35 receives the signal for executing the density detection, the mechanism control unit 35 prints the
KOD '30 = K (A) × KV' 30 + K (B) ... (5-1)
KOD '70 = K (A) x KV' 70 + K (B) ... (5-2)
KOD ' 100 = K (A) x KV' 100 + K (B) ... (5-3)
Next, the mechanism control unit 35 compares the density value read in step S5 with the target print density data table 46, and how much the individual LED drive times of the LED heads 901 to 904 of each color should be increased or decreased based on the difference. Calculate (S6). The mechanism control unit 35 uses the LED drive time adjustment amount table 49 stored in the storage means 3503 for this calculation.
In the LED drive time adjustment amount table 49, a change amount of the density value (hereinafter, also referred to as “LED drive time adjustment amount”) when the LED drive time changes by 1 [%] is set as a table value. By changing the LED drive time, the density of the intermediate duty portion can be increased or decreased mainly from the low duty. As shown in FIG. 4D, the LED drive time adjustment amount table 49 shows the LED drive time adjustment for each pattern (the pattern of each duty of each color constituting the density detection pattern 1101) in the
YDB(A)、MDB(A)、CDB(A)についてもブラックと同様に、3通りのDuty(30%、70%、100%)に対する計算値の平均値を適用することができる。

In this embodiment, the LED drive time control amount is calculated for three types of duty for each color, but since the LED drive time control amount for each color can be determined only one way regardless of the duty, the mechanism control unit 35 determines. The average value of the calculated values of the three duty (30%, 70%, 10%) is defined as the LED drive time control amount DK (A), and the DK (A) is obtained for each color. For example, when obtaining the black LED drive time control amount KDK (A), an equation such as the following equation (6) can be used. For the development voltage value control amounts YDB (A), MDB (A), and CDB (A) of other colors, the average value of the calculated values for the three types of duty (30%, 70%, 100%) is the same as for black. Can be applied.
KDK (A) = {(KOD '30 -KOD T30) /
+ (KOD '70 -KOD T70 ) / ΔKDK 70
+ (KOD ' 100- KOD T100 ) / ΔKDK 100 } / 3 ... (6)
DK(A)(KDK(A)、YDK(A)MDK(A)、CDK(A))より、LEDヘッドインタフェース部34に各LEDヘッド901〜904の駆動時間を増減する指示を出す。 DK(A)(KDK(A)、YDK(A)MDK(A)、CDK(A))に基づいて補正したLED駆動時間(LED駆動時間補正後のLED駆動時間)で各LEDヘッド901〜904を露光させる。
KDK1[s]=DK0+DK0×KDK(A)…(7−1)
YDK1[s]=DK0+DK0×YDK(A)…(7−2)

In this embodiment, the timing of performing the voltage correction process (correction of the output voltage of the specularly reflected light receiving phototransistor 3102) is not limited, but in this embodiment, it is performed at the time of manufacturing the color
When the mechanism control unit 35 starts the output voltage correction process, it first controls the

In step S2 described above, the
On the other hand, when the output voltage correction process is performed in the color image forming apparatus 1 (when the process of step S7 and step S8 described later is performed), as shown in FIG. 12, the emission current of the
Next, the mechanism control unit 35 controls the

(S9)。 Next, the mechanism control unit 35 calculates a correction value of the output voltage of the specularly reflected light receiving phototransistor 3102 (S9).
In this embodiment, in the mechanism control unit 35, the correction value of the output voltage of the specularly reflected light receiving phototransistor 3102 (hereinafter, referred to as “output voltage correction value”) is the output voltage of the specularly reflected
As described above, the diffuse reflected light from the black toner itself changes depending on the amount of black toner. Therefore, in the pattern of
Therefore, the mechanism control unit 35 of this embodiment applies an output voltage correction value according to the duty of the pattern to be inspected at the time of the density correction processing. Specifically, in this embodiment, the mechanism control unit 35 applies output voltage correction values corresponding to 30%, 70%, and 100%, which are the duties of the
KSN=KS(A)N×KVs+KS(B)N …(8)
The output voltage of the
K SN = KS (A) N x KVs + KS (B) N ... (8)
KS30=KS(A)30×KVS+KS(B)30 …(9−1)
KS70=KS(A)70×KVS+KS(B)70 …(9−2)
KS100=KS(A)100×KVS+KS(B)100…(9−3)
Therefore, Duty30%, 70%, 100 % of the output voltage correction value K S30, K S70, K S100 may be expressed as, respectively (9-1) to (9-3) below.
K S30 = KS (A) 30 × KV S + KS (B) 30 ... (9-1)
K S70 = KS (A) 70 × KV S + KS (B) 70 ... (9-2)
K S100 = KS (A) 100 × KV S + KS (B) 100 ... (9-3)

Each table value of the sensor output voltage correction value calculation table 50, when KV S is 0.70 [V], the correction value KS 30, KS 70, KS 100 is set to be 1.0 It is assumed that there is.

The mechanism control unit 35 updates the output voltage correction value table 51 of the storage means 3503 every time the output voltage correction process is performed. The mechanism control unit 35 performs an output voltage correction process, performs density correction processing using the output voltage correction value table 51 in the storage (updating) output voltage correction value K S30, K S70, K S100 It shall be.

For example, in step S3 of the density correction process after the output voltage correction, the density values KOD 30 , KOD 70 , and KOD 100 when the density of each duty of black is detected are expressed in equations (2-1) to (2-3). The equation will be replaced with the following equations (10-1) to (10-3). Further, for example, in step S5 of the density correction processing after the output voltage correction, density value KOD '30, KOD' 70, KOD '100 when performing the concentration detection of the Duty of black, (5-1) below - Equation (5-3) will be replaced with the following equations (11-1) to (11-3).

(A-3) Effect of Embodiment According to this embodiment, the following effects can be achieved.

FIG. 13 shows the relationship between the sensor detection voltage and the density value in the color
Here, the target print density value of 100% Duty is 1.50. Then, the output voltage of the specularly reflected
At 70% Duty, it was 1.30 [V] when there was no optical axis deviation, whereas it was 1.50 [V] when there was an optical axis deviation. That is, in this case, the detection voltage of the sensor is 1.15 times higher due to the deviation of the optical axis.
