Description
The present invention relates to a heat block used in a sealing process of a film exterior battery having a laminated film provided with a heat-sealing layer as an exterior body.
For example, as a lithium ion secondary battery, an electrode laminate (also called a power generation element) formed by laminating a plurality of sheet-shaped positive electrodes and negative electrodes via a separator is an exterior body made of a laminate film provided with a heat-sealing layer. A flat-shaped film exterior battery housed together with an electrolytic solution is known. In a film exterior battery, each side of the exterior body is generally sealed by sandwiching two laminated films between a pair of heat blocks so that each heat fusion layer is on the inside, and pressurizing with an appropriate load. A heat-sealing method is adopted in which the heat-sealing layers are joined to each other by heating while heating.
The heat-sealing of the laminated film using this heat block is performed for each side of the rectangular exterior body. That is, in general, the heat block is composed of a linear elongated rod-shaped metal block, and is configured in combination with a heat source such as a rod-shaped heater arranged in the metal block or a plate-shaped heater used by being stacked on the bottom surface of the metal block. There is.
In contrast to the heat block in which each side is sealed, in
In the above-mentioned
Therefore, when a heat block having a shape as shown in
Further, if a plate-shaped heater is used by superimposing it on the heat block instead of using a rod-shaped heater, the amount of heat that escapes to the outside increases and the distance from the heater to the actual machined surface of the heat block becomes longer, so that the temperature of the machined surface becomes longer. The problem arises that the control accuracy is low.

The heat block according to the present invention is
Each straight portion is provided with at least two straight portions corresponding to each side connected to each other so that at least two sides are simultaneously pressurized and heat-processed, and a processed surface corresponding to the seal line of each side is provided. Metal block member and
The above-mentioned processing is performed so that each of the straight portions of the block member is linearly penetrated along the longitudinal direction of each straight portion and crosses three-dimensionally at the corner portion where the two straight portions intersect without interfering with each other. Heater insertion holes provided with different height positions in the direction orthogonal to the surface,
Rod-shaped heaters that are inserted into the heater insertion holes on each side and that overlap each other when projected in the direction orthogonal to the machined surface at the corners.
It is configured with.
According to the heat block of the present invention, the two rod-shaped heaters are arranged in a grade-separated shape inside the corner portion where the two straight portions of the block member intersect, and the corner portion of the block member is reliably heated. be able to. This makes it possible to satisfactorily heat-seal a plurality of sides of the exterior body including the corners where the two sides intersect.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. First, the outline of the manufacturing process of the film exterior battery will be described with reference to the process explanatory diagram of FIG. In this embodiment, as an example of the film exterior battery as a work, a film exterior type lithium ion secondary battery having a flat shape constituting a power pack for driving a vehicle such as an electric vehicle or a hybrid vehicle is targeted. In this film exterior battery, a plurality of positive electrodes and negative electrodes formed in a rectangular sheet shape are laminated via a separator to form an electrode laminate (that is, a power generation element), and the electrode laminate is formed into a bag shape made of a laminate film. It is housed together with the electrolytic solution in the outer body. In the description of the following examples, the battery after the electrode laminate is housed in the film-like exterior body will be simply referred to as a "cell" regardless of the manufacturing process.
The step shown as step S1 in FIG. 1 is an electrode laminating step for forming the electrode laminating body. Here, the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the separator, which are wound in a roll shape, are sequentially laminated while being cut into a rectangular sheet, so that a plurality of positive electrodes and negative electrodes are laminated via the separator, that is, a power generation element, that is, an electrode. Form a laminate. The positive electrode is formed by applying a positive electrode active material as a slurry containing a binder on both sides of an aluminum foil serving as a current collector, and drying and rolling to form an active material layer having a predetermined thickness. Similarly, the negative electrode is formed by applying a negative electrode active material as a slurry containing a binder on both sides of a copper foil serving as a current collector, and drying and rolling to form an active material layer having a predetermined thickness. The separator is made of, for example, a microporous membrane of a synthetic resin such as polyethylene (PE) or polypropylene (PP) or a non-woven fabric.
A predetermined number of these positive electrodes, negative electrodes, and separators are laminated to form a power generation element, that is, an electrode laminate. The ends of the current collectors of the plurality of positive electrodes are overlapped with each other, and the electrode tabs, that is, the positive electrode tabs, which are positive terminals, are ultrasonically welded. Similarly, the ends of the current collectors of the plurality of negative electrodes are overlapped with each other, and the electrode tabs, that is, the negative electrode tabs, which are negative terminals, are ultrasonically welded. The positive electrode tab is made of a strip-shaped thin aluminum plate, and the negative electrode tab is made of a strip-shaped thin copper plate. That is, each is composed of the same type of metal as the current collector.
The electrode laminate configured in this way is arranged in the flexible film-like exterior body in the sealing step shown as the next step S2. The exterior body is made of, for example, a laminated film having a four-layer structure in which a heat-sealing layer made of polypropylene is laminated on the inside of an aluminum foil and a polyamide resin layer and a polyethylene terephthalate resin layer are laminated on the outside as a protective layer. .. The thickness of the entire laminated film is, for example, about 0.15 mm. In this embodiment, the exterior body has a two-sheet structure consisting of one laminated film arranged on the lower surface side of the electrode laminate and another one laminated film arranged on the upper surface side, and these two sheets are used. After arranging the electrode laminates between the laminate films, the four sides around them are overlapped with each other leaving an injection port on one side, and heat-sealed to each other. Therefore, the exterior body has a bag-like structure in which the injection port is open. Here, the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab are located on the side facing sideways when one side including the injection port is directed upward, and are led out from the joint surface of the laminated film to the outside. The heat block of the present invention is used in this sealing step, and the details thereof will be described later.
In another example, it is also possible to fold one relatively large laminated film in half and construct the exterior body in a form in which a power generation element is sandwiched between the two pieces. In this case, heat fusion is performed on three sides, leaving one inlet.
The cell configured in such a state that the electrode laminate is housed in the film-like exterior body in the sealing step is then conveyed to the liquid injection step shown as step S3. In the liquid injection step, for example, the cell is arranged in an upright state in the decompression chamber, and the liquid injection nozzle of the dispenser is inserted into the injection port of the exterior body under a predetermined decompression to fill (inject) the electrolytic solution.
When the injection is completed, the injection port is sealed by heat fusion as the injection port sealing step (step S4) while maintaining the posture of the cell as it is. The sealing here is a so-called temporary sealing, and since the injection port (or its vicinity) is opened for degassing generated by charging after charging, which will be described later, the final sealing is performed after degassing. Sealing will be performed.
Following the injection port sealing step of step S4, as the impregnation step of step S5, the electrolytic solution is left to stand for a predetermined time (for example, several hours to several tens of hours) in order to wait for sufficient penetration of the electrolytic solution into the electrode laminate. Then, in step S6, the first charge is performed. Then, the process proceeds to the next process such as the aging process (not shown).
FIG. 2 shows the

In other words, the

FIG. 4 is an explanatory view of the sealing process of the
FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing a schematic shape of the
As shown in FIG. 4B, the
In this way, the sealing process of the
FIG. 7 is an explanatory diagram of the sealing process of the
9 to 12 show an L-shaped
As shown in FIG. 7, in the first
As shown in FIG. 7B, the
As an example, the auxiliary processing surfaces 23b and 24b of the tab
In this way, the sealing process of the
Then, as shown in FIG. 8, the sealing processing region of the
As described above, in the above embodiment, with respect to the
On the other hand, on the second
As shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, the
The first
Similarly, the second
Here, the first
Further, the temperature
Similarly, the temperature
In FIGS. 11 and 12, rod-shaped heaters 51 (first rod-shaped
The first and second rod-shaped
Each of the
The second rod-shaped
Therefore, in the
That is, as described above, at the tip of the
The temperature sensors 52 (
Although the temperature control mechanism of the rod-shaped
In one preferred embodiment, in the overall length of the rod-shaped
In this way, by using the L-shaped non-tab
Regarding the step (c) of FIG. 3, although the heat block is not particularly shown, the heat block is heat-sealed by using a simple linear heat block, and the
In the L-shaped non-tab
Next, in FIGS. 17 to 20, the sealing process of the

According to the non-tabbed
