Description
しかしながら、腐食性の高いアルカリ溶液が電解液に用いられるため、ガスケットが経年劣化することが欠点である。特許文献3ではこの問題を解決策として、長期間に亘りガスケット交換の必要のないシール構造が提案されている。
前記陽極室枠の前記多孔質隔膜が配置される面に陽極ガスケットが配置され、前記陰極室枠の前記多孔質隔膜が配置される面に陰極ガスケットが配置され、
前記陽極室枠と前記陰極室枠とが締め付けられた時に前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットを介して前記多孔質隔膜が前記陽極室枠と前記陰極室枠とに挟持されるとともに、前記陽極ガスケットと前記陰極ガスケットとが圧縮され、前記多孔質隔膜の周端部で前記陽極ガスケットと前記陰極ガスケットとが接触することを特徴とするものである。

図1〜図4は、本発明の一好適な実施の形態に係るアルカリ水電解装置を説明するための断面図である。図1は、陽極室枠及び陰極室枠を締め付ける前の状態を表す。図2は図1における多孔質隔膜の周端部側での拡大断面図である。アルカリ水電解装置10は、陽極室12を画定する陽極室枠11、陰極室18を画定する陰極室枠17、陽極室枠11と陰極室枠17との間に配置され、陽極室12と陰極室18とを区画する多孔質隔膜16とを有する。陽極室12内に陽極13が収容される。陰極室18内に陰極19が収容される。図示例においては、陽極13及び陰極19は、それぞれ支持体14、20に、それぞれ支持されている。

- 陽極室を画定する陽極室枠と、陰極室を画定する陰極室枠と、前記陽極室に収容される陽極と、前記陰極室に収容される陰極と、前記陽極室枠と前記陰極室枠との間に配置され、前記陽極室と前記陰極室とを区画する多孔質隔膜と、を有するアルカリ水電解装置において、
前記陽極室枠の前記多孔質隔膜が配置される面に陽極ガスケットが配置され、前記陰極室枠の前記多孔質隔膜が配置される面に陰極ガスケットが配置され、
前記陽極室枠と前記陰極室枠とが締め付けられた時に前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットを介して前記多孔質隔膜が前記陽極室枠と前記陰極室枠とに挟持されるとともに、前記陽極ガスケットと前記陰極ガスケットとが圧縮され、前記多孔質隔膜の周端部で前記陽極ガスケットと前記陰極ガスケットとが接触し、
前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットが同一形状を有し、前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットのガスケット幅をW、圧縮前の前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットの厚さをD、圧縮後の前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットの内周側の厚さをD’、前記陽極ガスケット及び前記陰極ガスケットと前記多孔質隔膜との接触幅をA、圧縮時の前記多孔質隔膜の厚さをTとしたときに、式(1)〜(3)の条件を満足するアルカリ水電解装置。
