Description
The present invention relates to an aluminum oxide powder having a large average pore diameter and containing a certain amount of sulfur oxide.
As a method for obtaining aluminum oxide, a method of calcining aluminum hydroxide obtained by mixing a sulfate and an aluminum salt is known. Among the aluminum oxides obtained by such a method, aluminum oxide having a high specific surface area is generally used as a catalyst carrier in many cases.
In Patent Document 1, the aluminum hydroxide-containing slurry adjusted to pH 6 to 11 and maintained at a temperature of 50 ° C. or higher has an aluminum molar ratio of 20 to 500% / hr with respect to the aluminum hydroxide in the slurry. It consists of an aluminum oxide gel forming step of adding an aluminum salt and a pH control agent while maintaining the pH at pH 6 to 11 at a rate, and an aluminum oxide forming step of converting the aluminum oxide gel into aluminum oxide. A method for producing an aluminum oxide carrier is described, wherein at least one of the control agents substantially contains a sulfate root.
Patent Document 2 states that when aluminum oxide hydrate is produced by a neutralization decomposition or metathesis method using an alkali aluminate and / or an aluminum salt as a raw material, the pH in the reaction system is 7 to 10 and the reaction temperature is 40 to 90. Aluminum oxide hydrate is produced in the range of ° C. under the condition that carbonates coexist, and the obtained aluminum oxide hydrate water-washed filtered cake is brought into contact with alcohol to replace the water content in the cake with alcohol. , A method for producing porous aluminum oxide or aluminum oxide hydrate particles, which comprises drying an alcohol-substituted hydrate cake and, if necessary, heat-treating or firing it.
Patent Document 3 contains porous aluminum oxide having a high surface area and a high pore volume, including aluminum oxide, optionally silicon oxide and aluminosilicate, and optionally one or more dopants, and the oxidation thereof. Aluminum has a specific surface area of about 100 to about 500 square meters per gram, and the total pore volume after firing at 900 ° C. for 2 hours is 1.2 cubic centimeters or more per gram, where the total pore volume. Less than 15% of the described are porous aluminum oxide with pores having a diameter of less than 10 nanometers. As a method for producing such porous aluminum oxide, a step of forming a slurry of aluminum hydrate particles in an aqueous medium at a pH of about 4 to 6 or less and a medium having a pH of less than about 8 to 11 are used. A step of adjusting the pH of the slurry of aluminum hydrate particles, a step of isolating the aluminum hydrate particles from an aqueous medium, a step of drying the isolated aluminum oxide particles, and a step of baking the dried aluminum oxide particles. A method including the step of forming porous aluminum oxide having a high surface area and a high pore volume is described.
However, it is difficult to obtain an aluminum oxide carrier having an average pore diameter larger than 310 Å and a sulfur oxide content in a certain range by the methods described in Patent Documents 1 to 3, and the obtained aluminum oxide carrier is obtained. The catalytic activity of was not always good.
Further, in Patent Document 4, a sulfur-containing catalyst carrier in which sulfur or a sulfur compound is dispersed over the entire cross section of the carrier is prepared, and the obtained sulfur-containing catalyst carrier is impregnated with an aqueous solution of a catalyst metal compound and dried. The uniform type is characterized in that the catalyst metal-supported dried product obtained by drying is calcined as it is in a hydrogen atmosphere, and then the obtained catalyst metal-supported calcined product is reduced with hydrogen. A method for producing a highly dispersed metal catalyst is described. According to this, by allowing sulfur or a sulfur compound to be dispersed and present in the catalyst carrier, the catalyst metal is supported substantially in accordance with the distribution of the sulfur or the sulfur compound, and as a result, the catalyst metal becomes the catalyst carrier. It is said that a uniform high-dispersion metal catalyst can be easily obtained, which is supported by being substantially uniformly dispersed over the entire cross section. However, with the method described in Patent Document 4, while the sulfur content can be kept in a certain range, it is difficult to obtain an aluminum oxide carrier having an average pore diameter larger than 310 Å, and the catalytic activity of the obtained aluminum oxide carrier Was not always good.
The present invention has been made to solve the above problems, and provides an aluminum oxide powder having a large average pore diameter and containing a certain amount of sulfur oxide, which can be suitably used as a catalyst carrier for supporting a noble metal. The above problems are that the BET specific surface area is 80 to 200 m 2 / g, the average pore diameter is 310 to 500 Å, and the sulfur oxide content is 0.15 to 5 parts by weight based on 100 parts by weight of the total amount of aluminum oxide powder. It is solved by providing an aluminum oxide powder characterized by.
At this time, it is preferable that the total pore volume is 0.7 to 2 cm 3 / g. A catalyst carrier containing the aluminum oxide powder is a preferred embodiment, and a catalyst containing the aluminum oxide powder is a preferred embodiment.
Further, the above-mentioned problem is a method for producing aluminum oxide powder for firing aluminum hydroxide obtained by mixing a sulfate and an aluminum salt, and the sulfate and the aluminum salt are simultaneously added to adjust the pH. After obtaining aluminum hydroxide while keeping it at 4 or more and less than 7, add at least one pH adjuster selected from the group consisting of aqueous ammonia, ammonium carbonate and ammonium hydrogen carbonate, and bake at 750 to 1100 ° C. It is also solved by providing a method for producing aluminum hydroxide powder.
At this time, it is a preferable embodiment that the pH adjuster is added after filtering and washing after obtaining the aluminum hydroxide.
According to the present invention, an aluminum oxide powder having a large average pore diameter and containing a certain amount of sulfur oxide can be obtained. The aluminum oxide powder thus obtained has good dispersibility of the noble metal and high catalytic activity, and therefore can be suitably used as a catalyst carrier for supporting the noble metal.
The aluminum oxide powder of the present invention has a BET specific surface area (hereinafter, may be abbreviated as "specific surface area") of 80 to 200 m 2 / g, an average pore diameter of 310 to 500 Å, and a total amount of aluminum oxide powder of 100 weight. The content of sulfur oxide per part is 0.15 to 5 parts by weight. As described above, the BET specific surface area is 80 to 200 m 2 / g, the average pore diameter is 310 to 500 Å, and the sulfur oxide content is 0.15 to 5 with respect to 100 parts by weight of the total amount of aluminum oxide powder. It has been clarified that the aluminum oxide powder satisfying all of the constituent parts by weight has a good dispersibility of the noble metal and has an effect of increasing the catalytic activity. The present inventors confirmed that when aluminum oxide powder having a small average pore diameter and a sulfur oxide content not within a certain range was prepared, the dispersibility of the noble metal was low and the catalytic activity was also low. There is. That is, by using an aluminum oxide powder having an average pore diameter within a certain range and containing a certain amount of sulfur oxide, the dispersibility of the noble metal is good and the catalytic activity is also high, so that the present invention is of great significance.

(3) Evaluation of catalytic carrier activity (measurement of NH 3- TPD)
In NH 3- TPD (ammonia temperature desorption method), after adsorbing ammonia on a solid catalyst, the temperature is controlled to a constant temperature and the temperature is continuously increased to desorb the amount of ammonia and desorption of ammonia. This is a method of measuring temperature. Of the acid points of the solid catalyst, ammonia adsorbed on weak acid points is desorbed at low temperature, and ammonia adsorbed on strong acid points is desorbed at high temperature. Therefore, the acid amount and acid strength of the catalyst are measured. can do. Using a catalyst analyzer (“BELCAT-B” manufactured by Microtrac Bell Co., Ltd.), NH 3- TPD was measured by the ammonia temperature desorption method to evaluate the catalyst carrier activity. Specifically, a calibration curve is prepared using an NH 3 / He balance gas having a known concentration as a standard gas, and the amount of acid in the catalyst is measured from the amount of ammonia adsorbed based on the calibration curve. Peak detection is performed by quantifying ammonia in fragments of ammonia (m / e = 17) in the mass spectrum. Under the following conditions, after pretreatment, the adsorbed NH 3 process in order, were TPD measurement.
-Pretreatment: The temperature is raised to 550 ° C. in He in 55 minutes and held for 1 hour. The temperature is lowered to 100 ° C. in He in 1 minute and held for 10 minutes.
· NH 3 adsorption treatment: 100 ° C., to adsorb for 30 min NH 3 in 20 mL / min.
-TPD measurement: He gas is circulated at 30 mL / min, and the temperature is raised to 550 ° C at a heating rate of 10 ° C./min.

(5) Evaluation of dispersibility of precious metal-supported aluminum oxide (CO pulse adsorption method)
In the above (4) "Preparation of aluminum oxide supporting precious metal", a sample baked at 105 ° C. for 2 hours and then fired at 500 ° C. for 2 hours was defined as before endurance, and a sample calcined at 700 ° C. for 48 hours was defined as after endurance. Next, using "BELCAT-B" manufactured by Microtrac Bell Co., Ltd., pretreatment was performed under the following conditions, and then the dispersity of the noble metal-supported aluminum oxide was measured by the CO pulse adsorption method.
-Pretreatment conditions: The temperature is raised to 400 ° C. in He in 20 minutes and held for 15 minutes. O 2 switched to a gas, and held for 15 minutes, then replaced with He gas after the oxidation treatment, held for 15 minutes. Switch to H 2 gas, and held for 15 minutes, then replaced with He gas after the reduction treatment, the temperature was lowered at a 1 minute up to 50 ° C., held for 10 minutes.
-CO pulse condition: 10.1% CO / He gas is introduced at 50 ° C. and 50 mL / min.
-Maximum number of CO pulses: 5 times The CO pulse adsorption method utilizes the property that CO irreversibly adsorbs to precious metals. When CO is introduced into a pulse shape with respect to the catalyst, it is initially adsorbed on the surface of the CO-supported metal, and eventually most of the CO is adsorbed on the surface of the supported metal, and when the steady state is reached, most of the introduced CO is eluted. Will be. At this time, the amount of CO eluted at the time of initial adsorption is subtracted from the amount of CO eluted at steady state, and the sum of the differences is obtained as the amount of CO adsorption. The CO pulse adsorption method is a method of calculating the metal surface area, the metal dispersibility, and the metal particle diameter from the adsorption amount and the supported metal content.
