Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a cellulose nanofiber molded product.
In recent years, nanotechnology has been attracting attention for the purpose of refining substances to the nanometer level and obtaining new physical properties different from the conventional properties of substances. Cellulose nanofibers (hereinafter, sometimes abbreviated as "CNF") produced from pulp which is a cellulosic raw material by chemical treatment, pulverization treatment, etc. are excellent in strength, elasticity, thermal stability, and the like. This CNF molded product is expected to be used for various purposes as a high-strength material derived from biomass.
CNF is usually obtained by refining pulp or the like in an aqueous dispersion state. Therefore, when trying to obtain a molded product of CNF from a slurry (aqueous dispersion) of CNF, it is necessary to dehydrate and mold the slurry. As a method of dehydrating the CNF slurry to obtain a CNF molded product, a method of filling a mold with a CNF-containing slurry and applying a load while heating has been proposed (see JP-A-2016-94683). ..
Here, when the CNF is heated and pressurized while being placed in the mold, it is not possible to secure a sufficient flow path for water vapor, so that efficient drying cannot be performed. Therefore, it is efficient to remove the CNF that has been dehydrated to some extent from the mold and dry it. However, when the surface is dried without pressing, it may not be possible to obtain a high-density and high-strength CNF dried product. Further, when the surface is dried without pressing, wrinkles, irregularities and the like may occur in the obtained molded product due to strong cohesive force and uneven shrinkage due to drying. On the other hand, when the surface is dried while being strongly pressed, it may not be possible to obtain a molded product having a desired shape due to flattening due to the pressing.
The present invention has been made based on the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide a manufacturing method capable of obtaining a CNF molded product compressed into a desired shape.
The invention made to solve the above-mentioned problems includes a step of pressurizing a plate-like body containing cellulose nanofibers and water in the thickness direction while heating, and the above-mentioned pressurizing step is performed on the plate-like body having a thickness. The first pressurizing step of pressurizing in a range perpendicular to the direction and the second pressurizing step of compressing the plate-like body in the thickness direction by a pressure higher than that of the first pressurizing step. This is a method for producing a cellulose nanofiber molded product provided in this order.
According to the manufacturing method, in the first pressurizing step, the plate-like body is deformed by applying a weak pressure so as not to deform the plate-like body in the direction perpendicular to the thickness direction (plane direction) while heating. It is possible to proceed with drying while suppressing. In addition, after drying to some extent in this first pressurizing step to form a hydrogen bond network between celluloses, the pressure is increased in the second pressurizing step to remove water while compressing in the thickness direction to remove the thickness. It is possible to obtain a high-strength CNF molded product in which the spread in the direction (plane direction) perpendicular to the direction is minimized and the density is increased. Further, since each CNF has high strength, high elasticity, and nano size, according to the manufacturing method including the above-mentioned pressurizing step, there are many hydrogen bond points per unit volume and the strength is high. It is possible to obtain a molded product having excellent properties such as.
It is preferable that the first pressurizing step is performed at 1 MPa or more and less than 10 MPa, and the second pressurizing step is performed at 10 MPa or more. By performing the first pressurizing step and the second pressurizing step in which such pressure and the pressure difference are provided, the spread in the surface direction is suppressed, and the molded product sufficiently compressed in the thickness direction is effective. Can be obtained.
It is preferable that the pressurizing step is performed with the plate-shaped body sandwiched between a pair of porous sheets. By doing so, the water vapor generated during heating is discharged through the porous sheet, and drying can be effectively performed.
The water content of the plate-like body used in the first pressurizing step is preferably 90% by mass or less. By subjecting the plate state of such a water content to the first pressurizing step, effective drying can be performed while suppressing the spread in the surface direction. Further, it is uneconomical from the energy point of view to dry while heating with a water content of more than 90% by mass, and the water content of the plate-like body to be subjected to the first pressurizing step should be 90% by mass or less. Can improve energy efficiency. Before the step of pressurizing while heating, it is preferable to provide a mechanical pre-dehydration step that does not utilize heat to dehydrate the water content to 90% by mass or less.
It is preferable that the treatment temperature of the first pressurizing step is 100 ° C. or higher and 150 ° C. or lower, and the treatment time is 10 minutes or longer and 30 minutes or shorter. By performing the first pressurizing step at the above treatment temperature and treatment time, sufficient drying can be performed to the extent that spreading in the surface direction is unlikely to occur even when the pressing force is increased in the second pressurizing step. Further, by setting the treatment temperature and the treatment time as such, a certain amount of water can be left in the plate-like body. Due to the presence of this residual water, hydrogen bonds between CNFs due to the presence of water are effectively generated in the second pressurizing step, the number of hydrogen bond points per unit volume is increased, and the obtained CNF molded product has a higher density. It can be increased in strength and strength.
It is preferable that the plate-like body further contains pulp having a longer fiber length or a larger fiber diameter than the cellulose nanofibers. When pulp is contained in this way, the pre-dehydration step before the pressurization step can be efficiently advanced. On the other hand, when pulp is contained, the cohesiveness is lowered as compared with the case of CNF alone, so that the advantage of the present invention that a high-strength molded product can be obtained by pressurizing at least two steps is more effective. Can be enjoyed.
Here, the "cellulose nanofiber" refers to a fine cellulose fiber obtained by defibrating a plant raw material such as pulp and having a fiber width of nano size (1 nm or more and 1000 nm or less).
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a manufacturing method capable of obtaining a CNF molded product compressed into a desired shape.
Hereinafter, a method for producing a CNF molded product according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings as appropriate.
The method for producing the CNF molded product includes a step (pressurization step) of pressurizing a plate-shaped body containing CNF and water in the thickness direction while heating. The method for producing the CNF molded product preferably includes a preliminary dehydration step for obtaining the plate-shaped body before the pressurizing step. As the pre-dehydration step, a step of dehydrating the slurry containing CNF via the mesh-like member can be adopted. That is, as shown in FIG. 1, it is preferable that the CNF slurry is made into a CNF plate by a preliminary dehydration step, and this plate is made into a CNF molded by a pressurization step. The manufacturing method may further include steps other than these steps. Hereinafter, the manufacturing method will be described in detail in the order of the above steps.
(Equipment, raw materials, etc. in the preliminary dehydration process)
FIG. 2 is a schematic explanatory view showing a state of an example of the preliminary dehydration step. First, the apparatus, raw materials, and the like used in the preliminary dehydration step will be described with reference to FIG.
The
The
The lower limit of the thickness of the
Further, since the
A mesh-
As the lower limit of the number of stitches of the mesh-
The lower limit of the wire diameter of the
In this way, the
CNF can usually be obtained by defibrating a plant raw material (fiber raw material) by a known method. The raw material of this CNF is not particularly limited as long as it is a plant raw material, but pulp is preferable.
広葉樹晒クラフトパルプ(LBKP)、広葉樹未晒クラフトパルプ(LUKP)等の広葉樹クラフトパルプ(LKP)、針葉樹晒クラフトパルプ(NBKP)、針葉樹未晒クラフトパルプ(NUKP)等の針葉樹クラフトパルプ(NKP)等の化学パルプ;
ストーングランドパルプ(SGP)、加圧ストーングランドパルプ(PGW)、リファイナーグランドパルプ(RGP)、ケミグランドパルプ(CGP)、サーモグランドパルプ(TGP)、グランドパルプ(GP)、サーモメカニカルパルプ(TMP)、ケミサーモメカニカルパルプ(CTMP)、晒サーモメカニカルパルプ(BTMP)等の機械パルプ;
茶古紙、クラフト封筒古紙、雑誌古紙、新聞古紙、チラシ古紙、オフィス古紙、段ボール古紙、上白古紙、ケント古紙、模造古紙、地券古紙、更紙古紙等から製造される古紙パルプ;
Examples of pulp used as a raw material for CNF include broadleaf kraft pulp (LKP) such as broadleaf bleached kraft pulp (LBKP) and broadleaf bleached kraft pulp (LUKP), coniferous bleached kraft pulp (NBKP), and conifer unbleached kraft pulp (NUKP). ) And other chemical pulps such as coniferous kraft pulp (NKP);
Stone Grand Pulp (SGP), Pressurized Stone Grand Pulp (PGW), Refiner Grand Pulp (RGP), Chemi Grand Pulp (CGP), Thermo Grand Pulp (TGP), Grand Pulp (GP), Thermo Mechanical Pulp (TMP), Mechanical pulp such as Chemi-Thermo Mechanical Pulp (CTMP), Bleached Thermo-Mechanical Pulp (BTMP);
Waste paper pulp manufactured from used tea paper, used kraft envelopes, used magazines, used newspapers, used leaflets, used office paper, used corrugated cardboard, used white paper, Kent used paper, imitation used paper, used paper tickets, used paper, etc.
Examples thereof include deinked pulp (DIP) obtained by deinking used paper pulp. These may be used alone or in combination of a plurality of types as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
Among these, as the pulp used as a raw material for CNF, chemical pulp is preferable, and LKP and NKP are more preferable, from the viewpoint that a high-strength molded product can be obtained.
The method for producing CNF is not particularly limited as long as the effect of the present invention is not impaired, and a known method can be used. For example, pulp in an aqueous dispersion state may be subjected to defibration by mechanical treatment, or may be subjected to chemical treatment such as enzyme treatment, acid treatment, TEMPO-catalyzed oxidation, and phosphoric acid esterification before defibration. ..
Examples of the defibration method by mechanical treatment include a grinder method for grinding pulp between rotating grindstones, an opposed collision method using a high-pressure homogenizer, and a pulverization method using a ball mill, a roll mill, a cutter mill, and the like.
The pulp used as a raw material for CNF may be subjected to preliminary beating before defibration. The pre-beating (mechanical pretreatment) is not particularly limited, and a known method can be used. As an example of a specific method, for example, a method using a refiner can be mentioned.
In addition, the pulp used as a raw material for CNF may be chemically pretreated before defibration. Examples of this chemical pretreatment include a hydrolysis treatment using an acid such as sulfuric acid and an enzyme, and an oxidation treatment using an oxidizing agent such as ozone. CNF can be efficiently obtained by performing the defibration treatment after the chemical pretreatment in this way. Further, as a pretreatment, a treatment such as oxidation using a TEMPO catalyst or the like or phosphoric acid esterification may be performed.
The water retention of CNF is, for example, 250% or more and 500% or less. Since dehydration of CNF having such a high degree of water retention is inefficient, there is a great advantage in using this preliminary dehydration step in which dehydration can be effectively performed. The water retention rate (%) of CNF is Japan TAPPI No. Measured according to 26.
The CNF preferably has a single peak in the pseudo-particle size distribution curve measured by laser diffraction in an aqueous dispersion. As described above, the CNF having one peak has been sufficiently miniaturized, can exhibit good physical properties as the CNF, and can further increase the strength of the obtained molded product. The particle size (mode) of the CNF that becomes the single peak is preferably, for example, 5 μm or more and 50 μm or less. When the CNF has the above size, various characteristics peculiar to the CNF can be exhibited better. The "pseudo particle size distribution curve" means a curve showing a volume-based particle size distribution measured using a particle size distribution measuring device (for example, a particle size distribution measuring device "LA-960S" manufactured by HORIBA, Ltd.).
The content of CNF in the
The lower limit of the content of CNF in the solid content of the
The
Examples of such fibers include pulp, cotton fiber, silk fiber, hemp, wool, animal hair, rayon fiber, cupra fiber and the like, but pulp is preferable. Like CNF, pulp contains cellulose as a main component and has a high affinity for CNF. Therefore, by using pulp as the fiber, the outflow of CNF can be suppressed more effectively. Further, by adding pulp, the pulp becomes a core material, and a molded product having excellent strength may be obtained. The fiber diameter of pulp is usually more than 1 μm, preferably 10 μm or more.
As the pulp, LKP and NKP are preferable. It is also preferable to use pulp, which is a raw material of CNF, as the fiber. For example, using a combination of CNF and LKP made from LKP or a combination of CNF and NKP made from NKP increases the affinity between the two by using the same starting material, and pressurizes. It is preferable to obtain a molded product having a desired shape, which is a subject of the present invention, while sometimes suppressing CNF outflow and shortening the total dehydration time. However, the raw material pulp of CNF and the pulp mixed with CNF may be of different types.
The pulp may be unbeaten pulp or beaten pulp. By using unbeaten pulp, dehydration efficiency can be improved. On the other hand, by using the beating pulp, the CNF is easily entangled, the outflow of the CNF can be further suppressed, and the strength of the molded product obtained by increasing the hydrogen bond points can be increased. The freeness of unbeaten pulp can be, for example, 550 mL or more. The upper limit of the freeness of this unbeaten pulp is not particularly limited, but can be, for example, 800 mL or 750 mL.
The lower limit of the content of the fiber in the solid content of the

A plate-shaped

(Preparation process)
The manufacturing method may have a preparatory step of preparing the state of FIG. 2 before performing the pre-dehydration step. This preparatory step is a step of laminating the
In addition, the production method may have a slurry preparation step containing CNF as a preparatory step, or may have a mixing step of CNF and the above fibers.
(Preliminary dehydration process)
Hereinafter, the procedure of the preliminary dehydration step will be described in detail. In this preliminary dehydration step, it is preferable to increase the pressing force on the
The pre-dehydration step preferably includes an initial step of pressurizing at 2.5 kPa or less. When a pressure exceeding 2.5 kPa is initially applied, the CNF tends to flow out through the
It is preferable to increase the pressing force after dehydration has progressed to some extent by the pressurization in the initial step. The method of controlling the pressing force is not particularly limited, and may be controlled by a known press machine, or may be performed by placing a weight on the
In the pre-dehydration step, the pressing force is increased in this way, and as the final step, pressurization is preferably performed at 20 MPa or more, more preferably 30 MPa or more, still more preferably 40 MPa or more. By going through this final step, a plate-like body that has been sufficiently dehydrated can be obtained. The upper limit of the pressing force in this final step can be, for example, 200 MPa, or 100 MPa.
Unlike FIG. 2, a second mesh-like sheet is laminated on the upper surface of the
Further, in the preliminary dehydration step of FIG. 2, dehydration is performed only by pressurization without heating, but the preliminary dehydration step may be performed while heating.
(Pressurization process)
In the pressurizing step, the plate-like body containing CNF and water obtained by the pre-dehydration step is pressurized in the thickness direction while heating. This pressurizing step includes a first pressurizing step of pressurizing the plate-like body in a direction perpendicular to the thickness direction (horizontal direction when pressurizing in the vertical direction), and the first pressurizing step. A second pressurizing step of compressing the plate-like body in the thickness direction with a higher pressure is provided in this order.
In the pressurizing step, as shown in FIG. 3, a plate-shaped

The
Among these, as the
The lower limit of the thickness of each of the
Further, by laminating the
It is preferable that the plate-shaped
The pressurization step has at least two steps, and the first pressurization step may be made into a plurality of steps or the second pressurization step may be made into a plurality of steps so that the degree of pressurization increases stepwise. Is also possible. Moreover, you may perform the 3rd pressurization step. Hereinafter, preferred embodiments performed in two steps (one-step first pressurization step and one-step second pressurization step) will be described.
(1st pressurization step)
The first pressurizing step is a step of pressurizing the plate-shaped
The upper limit of the water content of the plate-shaped
As the lower limit of the pressing force in the first pressurizing step, 1 MPa is preferable, and 3 MPa is more preferable. By setting the pressing force in the first pressurizing step to the above lower limit or higher, dehydration can be promoted while maintaining the smoothness and homogeneity of the plate-shaped
The lower limit of the treatment temperature in the first pressurizing step is preferably 100 ° C., more preferably 110 ° C. On the other hand, the upper limit of the treatment temperature is preferably 150 ° C., more preferably 140 ° C., and even more preferably 130 ° C. Further, the lower limit of the processing time in the first pressurizing step is preferably 10 minutes. On the other hand, the upper limit of this processing time is preferably 30 minutes, more preferably 20 minutes. By performing the first pressurizing step at the above treatment temperature and treatment time, sufficient drying is performed to such an extent that spreading in the plane direction is unlikely to occur even when the pressing force is increased in the second pressurizing step which is a subsequent step. Can be done. Further, by setting the treatment temperature and the treatment time as such, a certain amount of water can be left in the plate-shaped
(Second pressurization step)
The second pressurizing step is a step of compressing the plate-shaped
As the lower limit of the pressing force in the second processing step, 10 MPa is preferable, and 12 MPa is more preferable. By setting the pressing force in the second pressurizing step to be equal to or higher than the above lower limit, the plate-shaped
The processing temperature in the second pressurizing step may be the same as that in the first pressurizing step. Further, the processing time in the second pressurizing step is not particularly limited, and may be terminated when further compression does not proceed or further drying does not proceed.
(Post-process)
By going through the above pressurization step, a CNF molded product can be obtained. After the pressurizing step, a further step such as a cooling step or a humidity control step may be provided.
(Advantages, etc.)
In the manufacturing method, the water in the plate-shaped
Further, by performing the pressurizing step in a state where the plate-shaped
The CNF molded product obtained by the production method has excellent strength. For example, the tensile elastic modulus is 5,000 MPa or more and 20,000 MPa or less, and the tensile strength is 100 MPa or more and 250 MPa or less.
(Other embodiments)
The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and can be implemented in various modifications and improvements in addition to the above-described embodiment. For example, the obtained CNF molded product is not limited to a rectangular parallelepiped shape, and may have an arbitrary plan view shape such as a disk shape. Further, a plate-like body containing CNF and water may be obtained by a preliminary dehydration step different from the above embodiment.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to Examples, but the present invention is not limited to these Examples.

(Pressurization process)
Using the obtained plate-shaped body and a general-purpose heat press machine, it was set in the state shown in FIG. As the
As the first pressurizing step, pressurization was performed at a pressure of 50 kgf / cm 2 (4.9 MPa) and a temperature of 120 ° C. for 15 minutes. Then, as a second pressurizing step, pressurization was performed at a pressure of 150 kgf / cm 2 (14.7 MPa) and a temperature of 120 ° C. As a result, the plate-shaped body was compressed in the thickness direction to obtain a CNF molded body. The obtained CNF molded product did not spread in the plane direction and maintained a rectangular shape in a plan view. The density of the obtained CNF molded product was 1.19 g / cm 3 , the tensile elastic modulus was 16.3 × 10 3 MPa, and the tensile strength was 1.1 × 10 2 MPa.
[Example 2]
Example 2 was carried out in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the pressure in the second pressurizing step was 70 kgf / cm 2 (6.9 MPa). Although the obtained CNF molded product did not spread in the plane direction, it could not be sufficiently compressed as in Example 1 in the second pressurizing step, and the density of the obtained CNF molded product was 1.08 g / cm. It was 3 .
[Example 3]
Example 3 was carried out in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the pressure in the first pressurizing step was 100 kgf / cm 2 (9.8 MPa). Although the obtained CNF molded product did not spread in the plane direction, it could not be sufficiently compressed as in Example 1 in the second pressurizing step, and the density of the obtained CNF molded product was 1.11 g / cm 3 Met.
[Comparative Example 1]
As the first pressurizing step, the pressurizing was performed at a pressure of 150 kgf / cm 2 (14.7 MPa) and a temperature of 120 ° C., except that the second pressurizing step was not performed. Was done. In the first pressurizing step, the plate-like body was crushed, and a CNF molded body spread in the plane direction was obtained. The density could not be measured because it spread in the plane direction, did not have the desired thickness, and became uneven.
[Comparative Example 2]
In the first pressurizing step, Comparative Example 2 was carried out in the same manner as in Example 1 except that the pressurization was performed only by heating to 120 ° C. The obtained CNF molded product shrank in the surface direction and had a shape having irregularities and wrinkles on the surface. Density could not be measured because unevenness and wrinkles were formed on the surface and a flat CNF molded product could not be obtained.
Table 1 shows the comparison between each example and the comparative example.
As described above, according to the production methods of Examples 1 to 3, it can be seen that the CNF molded product compressed into a desired shape can be obtained. In particular, according to the production method of Example 1, it can be seen that a particularly high-density molded product can be obtained despite the fact that pulp is contained.
[Reference Examples 1 to 6]
The results of the study on the relationship between the pressurization method and the presence or absence of pulp compounding in the preliminary dehydration step and the outflow suppression property and dehydration efficiency of CNF are described below. A plate-shaped body was produced in the same manner as in the preparation step and the preliminary dehydration step of Example 1 above except that the conditions shown in Table 2 were met. Reference Example 3 has the same conditions as in Example 1 above.
As shown in Table 2, it can be seen that efficient dehydration can be performed without causing CNF to flow out by dehydrating so as to increase the pressing force on the slurry as in Reference Examples 1 to 4. On the other hand, in Reference Example 5 in which the pressing force was high from the initial step, CNF flowed out, and in Reference Example 6 in which the pressing force in the initial step remained, sufficient dehydration could not be performed. Further, it can be seen that the dehydration efficiency is enhanced by mixing pulp with CNF as in Reference Examples 2 to 4.
The method for producing a CNF molded product of the present invention can be suitably used for producing a CNF molded product.
