Description
The present invention includes a vibrating body having a quartz crystal resonator element comprising various vibration modes, but about the crystal oscillator consisting of a pair of sealing body which seals the vibrator.
A conventional general crystal resonator includes a crystal vibrating piece having a predetermined vibration mode and a shape, a ceramic case that houses the crystal vibrating piece, and a metal lid that seals the crystal vibrating piece. Has been formed. The quartz crystal vibrating piece has a base end portion that holds the vibrating arm portion electrically connected to an electrode portion provided in the case via a conductive bonding agent.
On the other hand, a vibrating body formed by etching the crystal vibrating piece from a quartz wafer and a pair of wafer-shaped sealing bodies that enclose the crystal vibrating piece by sandwiching the vibrating body are integrally formed. A crystal unit manufactured by a wafer level package is known.
The crystal unit formed by the above wafer level package can manufacture a large number of crystal units at once from a single crystal wafer. Therefore, the number of manufacturing steps and the manufacturing cost can be reduced, and the crystal unit itself can be made small and thin. It has the advantage that it can be realized.
In such a wafer level package, an internal electrode for electrically connecting to the crystal vibrating piece is formed on the supporting frame of the vibrating body, which is formed by sandwiching the vibrating body with a pair of sealing bodies. Therefore, only the thickness of the internal electrode is exposed to the outside. Therefore, when electrical connection is made with the internal electrode via an external electrode provided outside, in the structure of the conventional crystal unit, the contact portion between the internal electrode of the vibrating body and the external electrode formed by sputtering or the like. However, since it is only about 1000 Å to 2000 Å, which is approximately the same as the thickness of the internal electrode, there may be a problem in electrical characteristics such as a conduction failure or a high electrical resistance value of the connection portion.
Regarding the routing of the internal electrodes, conventionally, a method of forming through-hole wiring on the substrate and connecting the extraction electrode extending from the excitation electrode to the external terminal is adopted. However, as the package size becomes smaller, it becomes more difficult to form through holes. As described above, the step of forming the through hole requires time and cost, and there is a problem in strength.
Regarding the sealing of the vibrating body, it is necessary to bring the quartz crystal vibrating piece into a state close to a vacuum. For this reason, in the above-mentioned
Also, in the conventional wafer level package manufacturing process, the vibrating body and the pair of sealing bodies are divided into small pieces by dicing and then terminals are formed, and electrical continuity between the vibrating body and the sealing body is secured by external electrodes. When doing so, it is difficult to secure the degree of vacuum when forming terminals, such as cracks or dirt due to dicing, or dicing debris that clogs the ventilation passages for vacuuming or the conductive parts between the vibrating body and external terminals. There is a problem that it is easy. Further, since the package is divided into small pieces, it is necessary to perform the post-process (sputtering, frequency adjustment) with the small pieces, and there is a problem that the number of manufacturing steps increases.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to easily and surely hermetically seal a vibrating portion having a crystal vibrating piece having various vibration modes with a pair of sealing bodies, and to electrically connect the crystal vibrating piece and the outside. It is to provide a crystal unit capable of improving the electrical connection.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problems, a crystal resonator of the present invention is joined to a vibrating body including a crystal vibrating piece and a support frame that supports at least one end of the crystal vibrating piece, and the upper and lower surfaces of the support frame, respectively. A pair of sealing bodies having a contact surface and a concave portion inside, and the pair of sealing bodies via conductive layers formed so as to surround the crystal vibrating piece on each of the upper and lower surfaces of the support frame. A contact surface of the quartz crystal is joined, and the external electrode is formed so as to cover the side surface of the conductive layer exposed on the side surfaces of the joined vibrating body and the pair of sealing bodies. The pair of sealing bodies has one side surface of each sealing body inclined inward, and when the abutting surfaces of the pair of sealing bodies are joined to the upper and lower surfaces of the supporting frame, the upper surface of the supporting frame is One end of the upper surface of the conductive layer formed on the lower surface of the support frame and one end of the lower surface of the conductive layer formed on the lower surface of the support frame are exposed from the contact surfaces, respectively, and are formed on the upper surface of the support frame exposed from the contact surfaces. One end of the upper surface of the conductive layer and one end of the lower surface of the conductive layer formed on the lower surface of the support frame are covered with the external electrode.
According to the crystal resonator of the present invention, when the vibrating body and the pair of sealing bodies are bonded to each other via the conductive layer, one end of the side surface and one of the upper and lower surfaces of the conductive layer is exposed, so that the exposed portion is removed. It can be an electrical connection surface of the external electrode. This facilitates the formation of external electrodes of a crystal resonator, which is becoming smaller and thinner, and also provides good conductivity to the vibrating body.
Further, in the case where the ventilation path is provided in the conductive layer that joins the vibrating body and the pair of sealing bodies, it is not necessary to perform processing such as providing a hole in the vibrating body or the pair of sealing bodies, Air in the recess joined by the pair of sealing bodies can be discharged to the outside. In addition, by closing one end of the ventilation path on one side surface of the vibrating body and the sealing body, the vibrating body can be easily and reliably formed without causing deformation or cracks in the vibrating body or the sealing body. It can be hermetically sealed.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of a crystal oscillator of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. 1 to 6 show a
The quartz wafer is formed into a plate shape with a cut angle obtained by rotating the quartz crystal roughly 1° from the Z-axis plane in the orthogonal coordinate system of the rough quartz crystal with the electrical axis as the X axis, the mechanical axis as the Y axis, and the optical axis as the Z axis. It is formed by slicing thinly. Then, a mask pattern is formed on this crystal wafer by a photolithography process, and crystal etching is performed to make a tuning fork type crystal vibrating piece composed of a
The vibrating
In this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 1 to 6, at least one
Since the
As shown in FIG. 8, the pair of sealing
The
The
A first
On the other hand, on the back surface of the
As shown in FIG. 5A, on the
FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of the sealing
In the laminated structure of the vibrating
8 and 9 show a method of manufacturing the
On the
On the other hand, the pair of
Further, through
FIG. 9 shows a manufacturing process under a reduced pressure environment where the degree of vacuum is 1.0×10 Pa or less. Under such a reduced pressure environment, as shown in FIG. 9A, the both sides of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 9B, the
Finally, the laminated body of the collective vibrating
Next, an embodiment of the
Next, FIG. 14 shows a structural example of the
By providing the
Since the
In the present embodiment, the
According to the
