Description
前記エレクトロクロミックパネルは、対向する透明基板と、それぞれの前記透明基板の内側に設けられた透明電極とを有し、対向する前記透明電極の間に金属原子イオンを含む電解質層が介在し、対向する前記透明電極に電圧が印加されると、前記金属原子イオンが前記透明電極の表面に析出して、反射パネルとなり、
前記制御部では、
(1)前記光検知器で検知される光量が所定値を下回ったときに、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間に電圧を印加せずに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動する制御を行い、
(2)前記光検知器で検知される光量が所定値を上回ったときに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動せずに、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間に電圧を印加する制御を行い、
前記(2)では、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間への電圧が断たれたときに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動しない状態を継続することを特徴とするものである。
図1に本発明の実施の形態の反射表示装置10が示されている。図1には、自動車の車室内から見たステアリングホイール1とシフトレバー2およびウインドシールド3が示されている。実施の形態では、反射表示装置10が自動車のルームミラー(バックミラー)として使用されており、ウインドシールド3の上方に設けられている。
エレクトロクロミックパネル20は、Y1側の透明基板21とY2側の透明基板22とが平行に対向している。透明基板21,22は例えばガラス基板である。透明基板21の内面に透明電極23が、透明基板22の内面に透明電極24がそれぞれ設けられている。透明電極23と透明電極24はITO層などで形成されている。
反射表示装置10は、制御部30を有している。制御部30は、CPUとメモリを主体として構成されている。制御部30から前記スイッチング回路28にスイッチ切換え信号S1が与えられる。また、エレクトロクロミックパネル20の動作状態に関する情報信号S2が制御部30にフィードバックされる。
<画像表示パネル11による表示動作>
図4に示す光検知器33で周囲の明るさが検知され、常に光量検知信号S5が制御部30に与えられている。制御部30において、光量検知信号S5で示される明るさが所定値以下または所定値未満であり、周囲が有る程度以上の暗さになっていると判断されると、スイッチング回路28に切換え信号S1が与えられ、図3に示すスイッチング回路28のスイッチ素子28bがOFFに切替えられる。これにより、エレクトロクロミックパネル20に透明電極23と透明電極24への電圧が断たれる。
制御部30において、光量検知信号S5で示される明るさが所定値以上または所定値を超えており、周囲が有る程度以上の明るさなっていると判断されると、スイッチング回路28に切換え信号S1が与えられ、図3に示すスイッチング回路28のスイッチ素子28bがONに切替えられ、エレクトロクロミックパネル20の透明電極23と透明電極24に電圧が印加される。
前述のように、制御部30において、光量検知信号S5で示される明るさが所定値以上または所定値を超えており、画像表示パネル11の表示動作が停止しているときは、エレクトロクロミックパネル20の透明電極23,24に電圧が印加されて、通常は、反射表示装置10が反射鏡として使用される。

Claims (3)
- 画像表示パネルと、前記画像表示パネルの表示側に設けられたエレクトロクロミックパネルと、前記画像表示パネルと前記エレクトロクロミックパネルとの間に設けられたハーフミラーと、前記画像表示パネルと前記エレクトロクロミックパネルを制御する制御部と、外光を検知する光検知器とを備える反射表示装置であって、
前記エレクトロクロミックパネルは、対向する透明基板と、それぞれの前記透明基板の内側に設けられた透明電極とを有し、対向する前記透明電極の間に金属原子イオンを含む電解質層が介在し、対向する前記透明電極に電圧が印加されると、前記金属原子イオンが前記透明電極の表面に析出して、反射パネルとなり、
前記制御部では、
(1)前記光検知器で検知される光量が所定値を下回ったときに、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間に電圧を印加せずに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動する制御を行い、
(2)前記光検知器で検知される光量が所定値を上回ったときに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動せずに、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間に電圧を印加する制御を行い、
前記(2)では、前記エレクトロクロミックパネルの前記透明電極間への電圧が断たれたときに、前記画像表示パネルを駆動しない状態を継続することを特徴とする反射表示装置。 - 前記ハーフミラーは、光反射率が10〜40%である請求項1記載の反射表示装置。
- 後方を撮影するカメラが設けられた車両に搭載されるものであって、前記画像表示パネルに、前記車両の後方を撮影した画像が表示可能である請求項1または2記載の反射表示装置。
