Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting device, particularly a light emitting device including a light emitting element that emits blue light, and a sulfide phosphor that absorbs a part of the blue light emitted by the light emitting element and emits green light.
A light-emitting device that emits white light includes a light-emitting element that emits blue light and a green phosphor that emits green light by absorbing part of the blue light emitted by the light-emitting element (or yellow-green fluorescence that emits yellow-green light) 2. Description of the Related Art A light emitting device including a red phosphor that emits red light by absorbing a part of blue light emitted by a light emitting element and a blue light emitted by a light emitting element is conventionally known. Light emitting devices that emit such white light are used in various applications including backlights and lighting devices for various displays such as liquid crystal displays.
In recent years, light emitting devices in which all or a part of the phosphor has been replaced with a sulfide phosphor have been developed. For example,
The green sulfide phosphor is characterized by high luminous efficiency and a narrower half-width of the emission spectrum than β-sialon, which is a green phosphor that is frequently used at present.
Therefore, the light emitting device using the sulfide phosphor has an advantage that the color reproduction range is widened when combined with a color filter such as a liquid crystal display. Furthermore, by associating the peak wavelength of the color filter (the wavelength at which the transmittance has a peak) with the emission peak of the sulfide phosphor, more light can pass through the color filter. And the light extraction efficiency is improved.
In particular, since the luminous efficiency is higher than that of the conventional green phosphor, a high-brightness liquid crystal panel can be obtained.
However, in a conventional light emitting device using such a sulfide phosphor, a phosphor such as CaS: Eu or (BaSr) 3 SiO 5 : Eu is used as a red phosphor, and therefore, the secondary absorption is reduced. There was a problem that occurred. That is, the red phosphor absorbs part of the green light (or yellow-green light) emitted by the green sulfide phosphor that has absorbed blue light, and emits red light. When such secondary absorption occurs, there is a problem that the luminous efficiency of the entire light emitting device is reduced.
On the other hand, in many applications such as displays and lighting devices, there is a demand for light emitting devices that can emit brighter light with less power consumption, that is, have higher luminous efficiency.
The present invention has been made to meet such a demand, and provides a light emitting device using a green sulfide phosphor and having high luminous efficiency.

As a result of the inventor's intensive study, instead of using a conventional red phosphor, a green phosphor was used as a red phosphor by using at least one of a KSF phosphor and an MGF phosphor. It has been found that a light-emitting device having high luminous efficiency can be provided. The KSF phosphor and the MGF phosphor described in detail below absorb blue light emitted by the light emitting element and emit red light, but hardly absorb green light emitted by the green sulfide phosphor. That is, secondary absorption does not occur. Therefore, the light emitting device according to the embodiment of the present invention has high luminous efficiency. Further, the peaks in the emission spectra of the KSF phosphor and the MGF phosphor have a narrow half-value width of about 10 to 20 nm. For this reason, even when the light passes through a color filter that transmits substantially the entire red wavelength range, red light with a narrow half-value width can be obtained, and red light with high color purity can be obtained.
In addition, since the KSF phosphor is contained in the side closer to the light emitting element, that is, the sealing member, and the sulfide phosphor having poor temperature characteristics is arranged away from the light emitting element, it is hardly affected by heat from the light emitting element. A decrease in efficiency can be suppressed.
Since the KSF phosphor absorbs little blue light, it needs to be contained more than a conventional red phosphor when used as a white light source. However, when the phosphor is contained together with the green phosphor as in
In the present embodiment, the required amount of the KSF phosphor is minimized by placing the KSF phosphor, which requires a larger amount than the conventional red phosphor, in the sealing member so as to be located near the light emitting element. On the other hand, the sulfide phosphor which is weak to heat is arranged outside the sealing member (light extraction side).
Thereby, the KSF phosphor can be used without increasing the thickness of the sulfide phosphor-containing layer (phosphor sheet). Since the amount of phosphor can be reduced, the cost can be reduced.
Hereinafter, light emitting devices according to a plurality of embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail.

In the light emitting device according to the embodiment of the present invention, the

The light emitting
A green sulfide phosphor-containing
With such a configuration, in the
Most of the red light emitted from the upper surface of the light emitting
Most of the blue light emitted from the upper surface of the light emitting
Part of the green light emitted by the

F.S.S.S.No(Fisher−SubSieve−Sizers−No.)

Then, while stirring the solution A at room temperature, the solution B and the solution C are respectively dropped. After solid-liquid separation of the obtained precipitate, the precipitate is washed with ethanol and dried to obtain a KSF phosphor.

An example of a method for manufacturing an MGF phosphor according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described. First, MgO, MgF 2 , Sc 2 O 3 , GeO 2 , Ga 2 O 3 , and MnCO 3 are weighed as raw materials so as to have a desired composition ratio. After mixing these raw materials, the mixed raw materials can be filled in a crucible, and then fired at 1000 to 1300 ° C. in the air to obtain the mixture.
It is preferable that the ratio of the light emission intensity at the peak wavelength of the light emitting element to the light emission intensity at the peak wavelength of the red phosphor is 1st: 2nd = 100: 55 to 70.

Next, an operation of the
