Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine or a printer, a laser scanning method or an LED exposure method has been put to practical use as an image writing method (exposure method). In the LED exposure method, a latent image is formed on the surface of the photosensitive drum by exposing light emitted from an exposure unit in which a plurality of light-emitting elements are linearly arranged in the axial direction of the photosensitive drum to the surface of the photosensitive member using an imaging unit. It is a method of forming. In the LED exposure method, it is necessary to dispose the exposure unit close to the photosensitive drum from the viewpoint of the light intensity, and high accuracy is required for the positional relationship between the exposure unit and the photosensitive drum. Therefore, a positioning portion (roller) is provided in the LED unit, and the positioning portion is brought into contact with a predetermined contact portion so that the distance between the LED head (exposure unit) and the photosensitive drum is kept constant during image formation. A known configuration is known (see Patent Document 1). Further, as a transport mode of the image forming apparatus and the process cartridge, a transport mode in which the process cartridge is included in the main body of the image forming apparatus is known (see Patent Document 2).
Here, when the image forming apparatus is transported in a state where the positioning portion for positioning the LED head (exposure unit) with respect to the photosensitive drum (photoconductor) is in contact with a predetermined contact portion, the positioning portion is moved by vibration or the like. Or the surface of the predetermined contact portion may be damaged. If the surface of the positioning section is damaged, the accuracy of positioning the LED head with respect to the photosensitive drum at the time of image formation is reduced, which may affect image formation.
In view of the above problems, it is an object of the present invention to suppress damage to a positioning portion or a predetermined contact portion that positions an exposure unit with respect to a photoconductor during image formation.

That is, the scope of the present invention is not intended to be limited to the following embodiments.
(Example 1)
First, an overall configuration of an image forming apparatus according to a first embodiment will be schematically described with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the entire configuration of the image forming apparatus according to the first embodiment. In the first embodiment, a four-color full-color LED printer using an electrophotographic image forming process will be described as an example of an image forming apparatus. This printer forms an image on a sheet S (recording medium) based on an image signal input from an external host device (not shown) such as a personal computer or an image reader. In the following description, with respect to the apparatus main body M of the image forming apparatus, the front side (front side) is provided with an opening / closing door 9 (opening / closing member) rotatable around a
As shown in FIG. 1, four process cartridges (hereinafter simply referred to as “cartridges”) CY, CM, CC, and CK are provided in the apparatus main body M of the image forming apparatus from the rear side to the front side in a horizontal direction. . Each cartridge C has the same configuration except that the color of the toner as the stored developer is different. The cartridges CY, CM, CC, and CK rotatably have
The first cartridge CY contains yellow Y toner in a developing device (developer container) (not shown), and forms a yellow toner image on the photosensitive drum 8. Similarly, the second cartridge CM contains magenta M toner and forms a magenta toner image. The third cartridge CC contains a cyan C toner and forms a cyan toner image. The fourth cartridge CK contains black K toner and forms a black toner image. Hereinafter, unless it is particularly necessary to distinguish the elements, the suffixes Y, M, C, and K given to the reference numerals to indicate that the elements are provided for any of the colors will be omitted.
Around the photosensitive drum 8, a charger as a process unit acting on the photosensitive drum 8, a developing device having a developing roller and the like, and a cleaning device are arranged. These are integrally assembled in the cartridge frame to constitute the cartridge C. An electrostatic latent image is formed on the photosensitive drum 8 by irradiating the photosensitive drum 8 with LED light described later. Then, toner is supplied to the electrostatic latent image by the developing device, and a toner image as a developer image is formed on the photosensitive drum 8.
Here, an LED unit as an exposure unit according to the first embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. The image forming apparatus according to the first exemplary embodiment is a non-laser type printer that exposes the photosensitive drum 8 using light emitted from an LED (light emitting diode), which is a light emitting element having lower light intensity than laser light. Four
In the non-laser type image forming apparatus as in the first embodiment, an
FIG. 2 is an enlarged view showing a state where the photosensitive drum and the LED head of the LED unit are in contact with each other. FIG. 3 is a diagram showing details of the configuration of the LED unit. Note that, in FIGS. 2 and 3, the
As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the LED unit 15 includes an
Further, the apparatus main body M has a
FIG. 4 is a view of the LED unit 15 shown in FIG. As shown in FIG. 4, a rotating
FIG. 5 is a schematic diagram showing the configuration of the cartridge. As shown in FIG. 5, the cartridge C is provided with a groove Ca. The groove width W of the groove Ca is configured to be slightly wider than the width of the holding
Further, as shown in FIG. 1 and the like, an intermediate transfer belt unit (hereinafter simply referred to as a belt unit) 22 is provided below the cartridge C. The
Further, a feeding unit is provided below the
In forming an image, a toner image is formed on the photosensitive drum 8 by an electrophotographic image forming process. Then, the toner images are sequentially primary-transferred onto the circulating
Next, a configuration for attaching and detaching the cartridge C to and from the apparatus main body M will be described. The cartridge C (CY, CM, CC, CK) of the first embodiment is configured to be exchangeable by a user. As described above, the
FIG. 6 is a diagram illustrating a separating operation of the LED unit accompanying the opening and closing operation of the opening and closing door. In FIG. 6, the two-dot chain line shows the state of each component after the separating operation. As shown in FIG. 6, a
When the
FIG. 7 is a diagram illustrating a state where the
6, when the
Next, a state during transportation of the image forming apparatus according to the first exemplary embodiment will be described. FIG. 8 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the image forming apparatus in the transport state (second state) according to the first embodiment. In the first embodiment, the second state is a state at the time of transportation, and is a closed state in which the opening and closing
Here, as shown in FIG. 5, the frame of the cartridge C has a support portion C1, and a non-contact portion C2 located at a lower height than the support portion C1. The same applies to other cartridges. FIG. 9 is a diagram illustrating the state of the LED unit 15 with respect to the cartridge at the time of transportation, when FIG. 8 is viewed from the H direction. As shown in FIG. 9, the frame of the cartridge C further has a non-contact portion C3 located at a lower height than the support portion C1. In the state at the time of transportation shown in FIG. 9, the position (height) of the LED unit 15 is such that the contacted

The
FIG. 10 is a perspective view showing a state where the shipping lock is mounted. The
As described above, in the first embodiment, since the rotating

Next, a second embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. Note that the same components as those in the first embodiment are denoted by the same reference numerals, and description thereof is omitted. Further, the image forming operation according to the second embodiment is the same as that described in the first embodiment, and the description thereof will be omitted.
First, a schematic configuration of the image forming apparatus according to the second embodiment will be described.
The image forming apparatus according to the second embodiment is a four-color full-color LED printer using an electrophotographic image forming process, as in the first embodiment. This printer forms an image on a sheet S (recording medium) based on an image signal input from an external host device (not shown) such as a personal computer or an image reader. Further, similarly to the first embodiment, four cartridges C2 (C2Y, C2M, C2C, C2K) having the photosensitive drums 8 (8Y, 8M, 8C, 8K) and the corresponding LED units 28 (28Y, 28M, 28C, 28K).

The LED unit 28 has an engaging

Next, a state (second state) during transportation will be described. FIG. 16 is a diagram illustrating the image forming apparatus in the transport state according to the second embodiment. In the second embodiment, in the state of transportation, the LED unit 28 is tilted, the holding

Next, a process of assembling the image forming apparatus according to the second embodiment so that the image forming apparatus can be transported will be described. FIG. 17 is a diagram illustrating a side plate forming a frame of the image forming apparatus. A broken line shows a perspective view of the inside of the image forming apparatus.
In the second embodiment, by adopting the above configuration, the same effect as that described in the first embodiment can be obtained. Further, in addition to the effects of the first embodiment, the user can switch from the transportable state to the printable state only by opening and closing the
