Description
The present invention relates to an electrode assembly and a method for manufacturing the electrode assembly.
Conventionally, as an electrode assembly used for a lithium ion secondary battery or the like, there is a stacked electrode assembly in which a plurality of positive electrodes and negative electrodes are stacked in a state of being separated from each other by a separator. As a technique related to the method for manufacturing such an electrode assembly, for example, a method for manufacturing a secondary battery described in Patent Document 1 can be cited. In this conventional method of manufacturing an electrode assembly, a plurality of electrodes are partitioned by welding a pair of long separators at predetermined intervals. Then, the electrode assembly is formed by folding the pair of separators in a zigzag manner so that the positive electrode and the negative electrode are alternately superimposed.
In the electrode assembly, the displacement between the electrodes as viewed from the stacking direction contributes to a decrease in capacity. Therefore, it is desired that no positional deviation occurs. However, when an electrode assembly is formed by folding a pair of separators in a zigzag manner, there is a problem that positional displacement between the electrodes is likely to occur as compared with the case where individual electrodes are stacked. Specifically, both a zigzag folded electrode and a piece-shaped electrode may cause a manufacturing error when one layer or one electrode is laminated. However, in the case of individual electrodes, for example, in the P & P (pick and place) type lamination method using a typical robot hand, the positions of the electrodes do not affect each other at the time of lamination. On the other hand, in the zigzag folded electrode, if the folding position is shifted, the position of the layer to be subsequently laminated is also affected. For this reason, in a zigzag-shaped electrode, the deviation increases as the folding is repeated, and a positional deviation that affects the battery performance is likely to occur. In the electrode assembly manufacturing method of Patent Document 1 described above, since the separator is folded for each electrode layer, the number of folding of the separator in the electrode assembly increases according to the number of stacked electrodes, and the positional deviation between the electrodes is reduced. It is difficult to suppress.
An object of this invention is to provide the electrode assembly which can suppress generation | occurrence | production of the position shift between the electrodes seen from the lamination direction, and the manufacturing method of an electrode assembly.
An electrode assembly according to an embodiment is an electrode assembly in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are stacked with a separator interposed between a pair of long outer separators, a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a positive electrode and a negative electrode. And a plurality of electrode units arranged between the pair of outer separators, the pair of outer separators being folded in the longitudinal direction so that the plurality of electrode units overlap each other It has a folded shape.
In this electrode assembly, an electrode unit composed of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an inner separator is arranged between a pair of long outer separators, and the outer separators are folded in a zigzag manner so that the electrode units overlap each other It has become. According to such a configuration, since the outer separator is folded in units of electrode units, the folding number of the outer separator with respect to the number of stacked electrodes is smaller than in the case where the separator is folded for each electrode layer as in the conventional configuration. Can be reduced. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of misalignment between the electrodes due to repeated folding of the outer separator.
Further, the pair of outer separators may be welded to each other by a welding portion that partitions the plurality of electrode units in correspondence with the folding line. In this case, since the arrangement space of the electrode unit is partitioned by the welded portion, the positional deviation of the electrode unit between the pair of outer separators can be suitably suppressed.
Moreover, the structure which the welding part is formed in a pair with a predetermined space | interval, and the folding line is located between a pair of welding parts may be sufficient. The outer separator may be cured at the welded portion. Therefore, by positioning the folding line between the pair of welded portions, the outer separator can be easily folded at the time of zigzag folding.
Further, the inner separator may have a protruding portion that protrudes from the end portions of the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and the protruding portion may be welded to the pair of outer separators by the welding portion. According to this configuration, the position of the electrode unit relative to the outer separator can be fixed in the arrangement space of the electrode unit. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably suppress the occurrence of positional deviation between the electrodes when the outer separator is folded.
Further, the thickness of the pair of outer separators may be smaller than that of the inner separator. When the outer separator is thinner than the inner separator, it is possible to secure the ease of folding the outer separator. In this case, the thickness of the pair of outer separators may be a half of the thickness of the inner separator. If it carries out like this, the thickness of the separator between electrodes can be made constant.
A method of manufacturing an electrode assembly according to one aspect is a method of manufacturing an electrode assembly in which a positive electrode and a negative electrode are stacked with a separator interposed between the positive electrode, the negative electrode, and the positive electrode and the negative electrode. Arranging a plurality of electrode units having inner separators between a pair of long outer separators so that a positive electrode and a negative electrode of electrode units adjacent to each other are reversed, and a plurality of electrode units A folding step in which the pair of outer separators are folded in the longitudinal direction so as to overlap each other to form a zigzag shape.
In this manufacturing method, an electrode unit composed of a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an inner separator is arranged between a pair of long outer separators, and the outer separators are folded in a zigzag manner so that the electrode units overlap each other. It has become. Moreover, since the positive electrode and the negative electrode are reversed and arranged between adjacent electrode units, when the pair of outer separators are folded in a zigzag shape, the positive electrode and the negative electrode are alternately stacked. . According to such a configuration, since the outer separator is folded in units of electrode units, the folding number of the outer separator with respect to the number of stacked electrodes is smaller than in the case where the separator is folded for each electrode layer as in the conventional configuration. Can be reduced. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of positional deviation between the electrodes when the outer separator is folded.
Moreover, it further includes a welding step for forming a welded portion for partitioning adjacent electrode units between the arranging step and the folding step and welding the pair of outer separators to each other, and corresponds to the welded portion in the folding step. The pair of outer separators may be folded along the fold line. In this case, since the arrangement space of the electrode unit is partitioned by the welded portion, the positional deviation of the electrode unit between the pair of outer separators can be suitably suppressed.
Further, a configuration may be adopted in which the welding portions are formed in a pair at a predetermined interval in the welding step, and in the folding step, the pair of outer separators are folded by setting a folding line between the pair of welding portions. The outer separator may be cured at the welded portion. Therefore, by positioning the folding line between the pair of welded portions, the outer separator can be easily folded at the time of zigzag folding.
Further, in the electrode unit, a protruding portion that protrudes from the end portions of the positive electrode and the negative electrode may be provided on the inner separator, and in the welding step, the protruding portion may be welded to the pair of outer separators by the welding portion. According to this configuration, the position of the electrode unit relative to the outer separator can be fixed in the arrangement space of the electrode unit. Therefore, it is possible to more reliably suppress the occurrence of positional deviation between the electrodes when the outer separator is folded.
According to one embodiment of the electrode assembly, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of displacement between the electrodes as viewed from the stacking direction.

The
In the
Each of the pair of
In the pair of
The

In the present embodiment, the pair of
Next, an example of a method for manufacturing the electrode assembly will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a manufacturing process of the electrode assembly.
In the present embodiment, the electrode assembly 3 is manufactured by the
The
The
In the manufacturing method of the electrode assembly 3, the arrangement process, the welding process, and the folding process are executed using the

The plurality of
Subsequently, in the welding step, a
Subsequently, in the folding step, the pair of
In the electrode assembly 3 as described above, the
Further, since the pair of
Further, since the thickness W1 of the
[Second Embodiment]
The
As shown in FIG. 5, the
[Third Embodiment]
In the
As shown in FIGS. 7 and 8, the
Thus, the position of the
As mentioned above, although embodiment of this invention was explained in full detail with reference to drawings, specific structure is not restricted to each embodiment. For example, although the example in which the pair of
Further, although the example in which the
In the
