Description
The present invention relates to a gasoline engine including a combustion chamber in which a fuel containing gasoline is burned while being mixed with air, and an ignition plug that ignites an air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber.
In general, in a gasoline engine, a discharge electrode portion of a spark plug is disposed in a combustion chamber, and a spark discharge is generated in the discharge electrode portion, whereby an air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber is ignited. In recent years, the geometric compression ratio, which is the ratio of the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at bottom dead center to the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at top dead center, 2. Description of the Related Art There is known a gasoline engine that is set to a compression ratio, and is a premixed compression self-ignition combustion type gasoline engine that self-ignites an air-fuel mixture premixed by compression regardless of spark ignition. In such a high compression ratio engine, Patent Document 1 discloses a technique in which flame propagation combustion is first generated in a combustion chamber by ignition assist by an ignition plug, and autoignition combustion is generated by increasing the temperature in the combustion chamber due to the combustion. It is disclosed.
It is important for stable combustion in the combustion chamber to generate spark discharge reliably in the discharge electrode portion of the spark plug. When the in-cylinder pressure becomes high, for example, in a high compression ratio engine such as the premixed compression self-ignition gasoline engine, discharge may not be generated satisfactorily in the discharge electrode portion. This is because the air density increases due to the high compression of the air-fuel mixture, and the insulation resistance of the gap between the discharge electrodes increases.
In this case, in order to ensure stable discharge, it is necessary to increase the voltage (required voltage) supplied to the spark plug. However, when the required voltage is increased, the energy consumption increases, and the discharge electrode portion to which the high voltage is applied is worn out by the discharge.
An object of the present invention is to reliably generate a spark discharge at a discharge electrode portion of a spark plug in a gasoline engine that ignites an air-fuel mixture with a spark plug.
A gasoline engine according to an aspect of the present invention includes a combustion chamber that is partitioned by a cylinder and a piston and burns fuel containing at least gasoline, a spark plug in which a discharge electrode portion is disposed in the combustion chamber, and the combustion chamber. A water injection device for injecting water having a water temperature of 100 ° C. or more toward the discharge electrode portion, a water injection control portion for controlling the timing of water injection from the water injection device, and a ceiling surface of the combustion chamber An injector for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber, and the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at bottom dead center and the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at top dead center In a gasoline engine having a geometric compression ratio of 13 or more, the crown of the piston is provided with a cavity recessed in a central region in the radial direction of the combustion chamber. The injector is attached to the ceiling surface so that a head portion having a plurality of fuel injection ports protrudes into the combustion chamber at the center in the radial direction and injects fuel toward the cavity. The plug is disposed so that the discharge electrode portion is positioned between the head portion and the water injection device when viewed in the cylinder axial direction, and the water injection control portion is after fuel injection by the injector. The water injection is performed in a discharge period in which discharge occurs in the discharge electrode section or in a period immediately before the discharge period.
According to this gasoline engine, water is injected from the water injection device to the discharge electrode part during the discharge period at the discharge electrode part or the period immediately before. For this reason, in the said period, the periphery of the said discharge electrode part will be in a state with much moisture (high humidity state). Accordingly, even in an environment where spark discharge is difficult to occur in the discharge electrode part due to factors such as high in-cylinder pressure, for example, water is interposed between the electrodes of the discharge electrode part, so that discharge is generated between the electrodes. It is possible to form a state that is likely to occur. That is, hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions are generated by electrolysis of water between the electrodes (hydrogen and oxygen are generated), and these enhance the discharge performance between the electrodes. For this reason, spark discharge can be reliably generated in the discharge electrode portion.
In the above configuration, the geometric compression ratio, which is the ratio of the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at bottom dead center to the volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is at top dead center, is 13 or more. It can be suitably applied to a certain gasoline engine.
In an engine having a high compression ratio with a geometric compression ratio of 13 or more, the air-fuel mixture is highly compressed at the timing when the spark plug ignites the air-fuel mixture (near the compression top dead center). For this reason, the air density in a combustion chamber becomes high, and the insulation resistance of the gap between electrodes also becomes high in connection with this, and discharge performance falls. However, the deterioration of the discharge performance can be suppressed by the water jet directed to the discharge electrode portion.
In the gasoline engine described above, it is preferable that the water injection control unit causes the water injection to be executed under an operating condition in which the air-fuel ratio is leaner than the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio .
For example, when lean combustion is performed or when intake air is supercharged, the amount of air in the combustion chamber is relatively large. In this case, the insulation resistance of the interelectrode gap increases. According to this gasoline engine, since the water injection is executed under such operating conditions, it is possible to suppress a decrease in discharge performance at the discharge electrode portion.
According to the present invention, in a gasoline engine that ignites an air-fuel mixture with a spark plug, spark discharge can be reliably generated at the discharge electrode portion of the spark plug.

FIG. 5A is a diagram schematically showing the configuration of the
Although it is important for the stable combustion in the
As described above, the engine main body 1 of the present embodiment is a high compression ratio engine having a geometric compression ratio of 13 or more. Therefore, in the latter half of the compression stroke immediately before the air-fuel mixture in the
In view of this problem, in the present embodiment, water is sprayed in a spot manner from the
6A and 6B are plan views in top view showing the state of water injection to the
FIG. 6B shows a state immediately after the water injection from the
The temperature of the water jetted from the
The above water injection may be performed at all times during the operation of the engine body 1, but the water injection may be performed only under an operating condition in which the amount of air in the
FIG. 7 is a time chart showing an example of the relationship between fuel injection, water injection, forced ignition timing and heat generation rate dQ in the engine body 1. FIG. 7 shows an example in which the fuel injection F from the
The
In addition, the timing of the water injection W shown in FIG. 7 is an example, and various injection modes can be taken. For example, the water jet W may be executed during a discharge period in which spark discharge is scheduled to occur in the interelectrode gap G. Alternatively, the period before and after the ignition timing and the period between the ignition timing and the predetermined timing immediately before the ignition timing may be set as the execution period of the water injection W.
[Function and effect]
According to the gasoline engine according to the present embodiment described above, water is injected from the
Moreover, this embodiment can be suitably applied to a gasoline engine having a geometric compression ratio of 13 or more. In an engine having a high compression ratio with a geometric compression ratio of 13 or more, the air-fuel mixture is highly compressed at the timing when the
