Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine.
A technique is known in which an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine is provided with a filter that collects particulate matter (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “PM”) in exhaust gas. In addition to PM, the filter also collects nonflammable substances (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “ash”) derived from components contained in the lubricating oil of the internal combustion engine. The PM deposited on the filter can be removed from the filter by executing a so-called filter regeneration process that is a process of oxidizing the PM by raising the temperature of the filter. However, since the ash deposited on the filter contains a metal component, it is not removed from the filter even if the filter regeneration process is executed. Therefore, the ash deposited on the filter remains continuously. Further, there is a known problem that the oxidization rate of PM deposited on the filter at the time of the filter regeneration process decreases due to the accumulation of ash on the filter.
It is also known that the filter carries an oxidation catalyst for oxidizing and removing PM deposited on the filter. In the filter regeneration process, an oxidation catalyst that can efficiently oxidize and remove PM deposited on the filter is being developed (see, for example,
Patent Document 6 discloses a technique for reducing the pressure loss of the filter due to the accumulation of ash by heating the filter to a predetermined temperature and contracting the ash accumulated on the filter.
Conventionally, the development of an oxidation catalyst aimed at improving the contact between the oxidation catalyst carried on the filter and the PM deposited on the filter has been promoted. However, the development of the oxidation catalyst does not take into account the effect of ash accumulated on the filter. Here, as ash accumulates on the filter, the contact between the oxidation catalyst and the PM decreases, and the oxidation rate of the PM during the filter regeneration process decreases. For example, in a wall flow type particulate filter in which a plurality of passages are defined by porous partition walls containing an oxidation catalyst, ash is deposited on the partition walls of the filter. The contact with is reduced. For such problems, the above technologies (
The present invention suitably removes the ash deposited on the surface of the partition wall of the filter provided in the exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, thereby removing the PM collected by the filter with as high efficiency as possible. The purpose is to do.
In order to solve the above problems, in the present invention, a filter for collecting particulate matter has porous partition walls, and a catalyst layer is supported on the surfaces of the partition walls. And the structure which conveys the ash deposited in this catalyst layer to the downstream part of this filter by fuse | melting the binder which a catalyst layer has on a predetermined condition was employ | adopted.

When the exhaust flow rate flowing into the filter is equal to or higher than a predetermined flow rate, the temperature of the filter is controlled to a temperature at which the binder melts using the temperature raising means.

FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic configuration of an internal combustion engine and its intake / exhaust system according to the present embodiment. An
The
The

The
The
In the exhaust gas purification apparatus for the
Here, the PM deposited on the

Among the plurality of
In the
(Control of bottom accumulation of ash)
As described above, the
Here, in the wall flow type filter such as the
Further, FIG. 5 shows a concept of the ash accumulation state in the partition wall in the case where the ash is deposited on the wall in the prior art. As shown in FIG. 5, in general, ash is deposited on the wall surfaces and walls of the partition walls. At this time, the ash accumulates while the ash is bonded to each other from the wall surface to the inside of the partition wall, and the ash is firmly bonded to the partition wall by a so-called anchor effect. In general, it is difficult to transport the ash firmly bonded to the partition wall to the downstream portion of the filter by the flow of exhaust gas.
Further, in the prior art, as the ash accumulates on the partition walls of the filter, the contact property between the oxidation catalyst supported on the filter base material and the PM deposited on the filter is reduced, and the filter is subjected to the filter regeneration process. The oxidation rate of the deposited PM decreases. FIG. 6 is a diagram for explaining the influence of the ash deposited on the partition walls on the contact between the oxidation catalyst supported on the partition walls and the PM deposited on the partition walls in the prior art. As described above, the ash deposited on the filter remains continuously because the ash deposited on the filter is not removed from the filter even when the filter regeneration process is performed. As a result, as shown in FIG. 6, the oxidation catalyst supported on the partition walls is covered with ash, and PM accumulates on the surface of the ash that covers the oxidation catalyst. Therefore, the oxidation catalyst and the PM The contact with is reduced.
In the exhaust gas purification apparatus according to the present embodiment, the above-described problems of the prior art are solved by performing ash bottom deposition control. That is, in the exhaust gas purification apparatus according to the present embodiment, the ash deposited on the surface of the
As described above, the
In this embodiment, the
As described above, when ash is deposited on the surface of the

In the present embodiment, the temperature of the
(Ash bottom deposition control flow)
An ash bottom deposition control flow in the exhaust gas purification apparatus according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 11 is a flowchart showing an ash bottom deposition control flow in the exhaust emission control system according to this embodiment. In this embodiment, this flow is repeatedly executed by the
0 is repeatedly performed at a predetermined calculation cycle during the operation of the
In the flow shown in FIG. 11, first, the catalyst layer ash deposition amount Da is read in S101. As described above, the catalyst layer ash accumulation amount Da is stored in the ROM of the
Next, in S103, it is determined whether or not the catalyst layer ash deposition amount Da is not less than the determination threshold value Dath and the exhaust gas flow rate Ge is not less than the determination threshold value Geth. This determination threshold value Path is a value determined in advance based on experiments or the like as a value for obtaining the oxidation rate of PM deposited on the
If an affirmative determination is made in S103, then the target filter temperature Tf is set in S104. The target filter temperature Tf is a temperature at which the binder can be dissolved, and is set according to the binder included in the
Next, in S106, it is determined whether or not the filter differential pressure Pf is smaller than a determination threshold value Pfth. If an affirmative determination is made in S106, that is, if the ash deposited on the surface of the
According to the present embodiment, the ash deposited on the surface of the
<変形例>
<Modification>
In Example 1, the
In this modification, the
FIG. 12A shows the state of wall deposition at this time, and FIG. 12 shows the state in which the ash bottom deposition control is performed and the ash and the
An ash bottom deposition control flow in the exhaust emission control apparatus according to this modification will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 13 is a flowchart showing an ash bottom deposition control flow in the exhaust gas purification apparatus according to this modification. In this modification, the
In the flow shown in FIG. 13, first, in S201, it is determined whether or not the control execution counter Nfcr is 3. The control execution counter Nfcr is stored in the ROM of the
In the flow shown in FIG. 13, the target filter temperature Tf in S104 is set according to the binder included in the
