Description
The present invention relates to a solid electrolytic capacitor and a method for manufacturing the same.
Solid electrolytic capacitors are known in which a conductive polymer layer is formed on an anode foil of a capacitor element in which an anode foil with a dielectric oxide film formed on the surface and a cathode foil are wound through a separator. ing.
In general, the anode electrode of a solid electrolytic capacitor forms a dielectric oxide film on a metal foil having a valve action such as aluminum, tantalum, niobium, etc. whose surface area is increased by etching, and is electrically conductive on this dielectric oxide film. A polymer layer is formed and an electrode is drawn out. This conductive polymer layer plays a role as a true cathode in the electrolytic capacitor, and greatly affects the electrical characteristics of the electrolytic capacitor.
A conductive polymer layer is a layer containing a solid electrolyte that is electronically conductive, and a conductive polymer such as polyethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT), polythiophene, polyaniline, or polypyrrole, which is a derivative of polythiophene, is a solid electrolyte. It is known to use as (patent document 1).
As a method for forming such a conductive polymer layer, a mixed solution of an oxidizing agent and a monomer is prepared in advance, and a capacitor element is immersed in the mixed solution and impregnated, or the oxidizing agent and the monomer are separately provided. There is a method of sequentially impregnating capacitor elements. For example, in the solid electrolytic capacitor described in
Each of the above methods forms a conductive polymer layer while a polymerization reaction proceeds on a capacitor element. These methods include changes in solution viscosity accompanying the progress of polymerization, It has also been known that there are difficulties in process control such as insufficient mixing with monomers.
On the other hand, a method of forming a conductive polymer layer by impregnating and drying a dispersion liquid containing a conductive polymer that has been polymerized in advance to form a coating film is also known. Since this method does not require a polymerization reaction on the dielectric oxide film, the process is relatively easy to control and is advantageous in terms of mass productivity (Patent Document 3).
The invention of
In addition, in order to improve moisture resistance, in solid electrolytic capacitors, an attempt to enclose a capacitor element in which a solid electrolyte layer is formed together with a dried silica gel A type powder or a resin mixed with dried silica gel A type is also known. (Patent Document 4).
By the way, as the use of solid electrolytic capacitors expands, there is a demand for capacitors that can be used without problems even in harsher environments. Specifically, 85 ° C.-85% R.I. H. Capacitors with little change in electrical characteristics even under high temperature and high humidity conditions are demanded. However, conventional solid electrolytic capacitors have not been known to have sufficient moisture resistance due to little change in electrical characteristics even when placed under high temperature and high humidity. In Patent Document 4 described above, moisture resistance is improved by encapsulating silica gel and adsorbing moisture. However, since the amount of moisture that can be adsorbed by silica gel is determined, moisture resistance is increased when the moisture content exceeds a certain level. It is estimated that the effect of improving the performance is greatly reduced.
Furthermore, since the conductive polymer layer formed from the polythiophene-based aqueous dispersion contracts when a voltage is applied, there is a problem that sufficient charge / discharge resistance cannot be obtained.
In view of such a situation, an object of the present invention is to provide a solid electrolytic capacitor that is excellent in charge / discharge resistance and has little change in electrical characteristics even under high temperature and high humidity and excellent in moisture resistance.
The inventors of the present invention are one of the factors that cause deterioration in charge / discharge characteristics in a solid electrolytic capacitor having a layer composed of polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid (hereinafter sometimes referred to as PEDOT / PSS) as a conductive polymer. One of the findings was that peeling occurred between the conductive polymer layer and the electrode foil. And in order to solve this problem, it invented to improve the adhesiveness of a conductive polymer layer and electrode foil using a binder.
Furthermore, when a conductive polymer layer is formed using a dispersion liquid containing a conductive polymer and a binder, peeling is effectively suppressed, and a solid electrolytic capacitor excellent in charge / discharge resistance and humidity resistance The present invention has been completed by conceiving that a solid electrolytic capacitor can be produced without increasing the number of processes.
That is, the present invention provides a solid electrolytic capacitor having an anode foil having a dielectric oxide film formed thereon and a capacitor element in which a cathode foil is wound through a separator, wherein a conductive polymer layer is formed on the dielectric oxide film. The conductive polymer layer is formed by impregnating and drying a dispersion containing polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid, and contains a binder in the dispersion. It relates to an electrolytic capacitor.
The present invention also includes a step of forming a capacitor element by winding an anode foil on which a dielectric oxide film is formed and a cathode foil through a separator, and dispersion of polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid on the capacitor element. A step of impregnating and drying a dispersion in which a binder is dissolved in a liquid to form a conductive polymer layer, and the binder comprises poly-N -It relates to a method for producing a solid electrolytic capacitor which is vinylacetamide or a derivative thereof.
Since the solid electrolytic capacitor contains a binder together with polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid in the conductive polymer layer, the adhesion between the conductive polymer layer and the electrode foil is high. Therefore, even if charging / discharging is repeated, peeling of the conductive polymer layer and the electrode foil hardly occurs, and a solid electrolytic capacitor excellent in charge / discharge resistance and moisture resistance can be obtained. Moreover, since the binder is contained in the dispersion containing polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid, it is bound with PEDOT / PSS without increasing the number of additional steps in addition to the step of forming the conductive polymer layer. The layer containing the agent can be formed in the capacitor element in one step.
The binder is preferably poly-N-vinylacetamide or a derivative thereof, and is contained in a dispersion containing polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid at a concentration of 0.05 to 1.0 wt%. It is preferable.
Since poly-N-vinylacetamide is water-soluble, it can be used by dissolving in an aqueous dispersion containing polyethylenedioxythiophene and polystyrenesulfonic acid. Poly-N-vinylacetamide is particularly excellent in adhesion to the electrode foil, and the effect of improving charge / discharge resistance and moisture resistance can be obtained by adding a small amount.
Further, the solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention comprises a polythiophene, a dielectric oxide film, and a conductive polymer layer formed by impregnating and drying a dispersion containing the polyethylenedioxythiophene and polystyrenesulfonic acid, It is preferable to further have a conductive polymer layer containing polypyrrole, polyaniline or a derivative thereof.
By configuring the conductive polymer layer in two layers as described above, a solid electrolytic capacitor having more excellent moisture resistance can be obtained.
In addition, when the conductive polymer layer is made into two layers, since the binder functions to enhance the adhesion between the two conductive polymer layers, the charge / discharge resistance is not deteriorated.
In the solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention, the capacitor element is preferably impregnated with a nonionic conductive organic solvent having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or higher, and the nonionic conductive organic solvent having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or higher is γ-butyrolactone. More preferably, the organic solvent is one or more organic solvents selected from the group consisting of polyethylene glycol, sulfolane, dimethyl sulfoxide, and dimethylformamide.
PEDOT / PSS, which is a conductive polymer, has the property of swelling with water. By impregnating the capacitor element with the above organic solvent, it is possible to reduce the influence of moisture entering the element. Thus, a solid electrolytic capacitor having more excellent moisture resistance can be obtained.
In the production method of the present invention, by using a dispersion of polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid, the oxidant and the monomer component are less likely to remain in the capacitor element, and in particular, the dielectric at high temperature and high humidity. Deterioration of body film is suppressed. For this reason, it is possible to obtain a solid electrolytic capacitor excellent in moisture resistance with little change in capacitor characteristics even under high temperature and high humidity.
According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a solid electrolytic capacitor having little change in electrical characteristics even after repeated charge / discharge and excellent charge / discharge resistance, and little change in characteristics even under high temperature and high humidity.

The anode foil of the solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention was formed by subjecting the surface of the valve action metal on a flat plate having a predetermined width to a rough surface by etching, followed by chemical oxidation treatment to form a dielectric oxide film on the surface. Use things. As the valve metal action, a metal containing at least one selected from aluminum, tantalum, niobium, and titanium is preferable, and aluminum is particularly preferable.
Etching treatment and chemical oxidation treatment can be performed by a known method, and the treatment may be carried out using known materials and conditions generally used for solid electrolytic capacitors, or purchased products may be used. For example, the chemical conversion liquid used for the chemical conversion treatment may be a chemical conversion liquid in which a solute of an organic acid salt having a carboxylic acid group or an inorganic acid salt such as phosphoric acid is dissolved in an organic solvent or an inorganic solvent.
As described above, the anode foil is wound together with the separator and the cathode foil. After the winding, in order to repair the dielectric oxide film that has been lost when the anode foil is cut or the external lead electrode is attached, according to known conditions and methods. Perform restoration formation. As a chemical conversion liquid for restoration chemical conversion, a chemical conversion liquid in which a solute of an organic acid salt having a carboxylic acid group or an inorganic acid salt such as phosphoric acid is dissolved in an organic solvent or an inorganic solvent can be used.
A conductive polymer layer is formed on the dielectric oxide film. The conductive polymer layer may be one layer or plural, but at least one layer is formed by impregnating and drying a dispersion containing polyethylenedioxythiophene (PEDOT) and polystyrene sulfonic acid (PSS), and further a binder. It is a layer containing.
The conductive polymer layer is preferably formed by immersing and impregnating the capacitor element in a dispersion containing polyethylene dioxythiophene and polystyrene sulfonic acid, and then removing the solvent by drying. As the PEDOT / PSS dispersion, those using water as the solvent are preferable, and those prepared with the concentration of PEDOT / PSS in the dispersion being 0.5 to 3.0 wt% may be used.
As the binder, poly-N-vinylacetamide or a derivative thereof is preferably used. The concentration of poly-N-vinylacetamide in the PEDOT / PSS dispersion is preferably 0.05 to 1.0 wt%, more preferably 0.05 to 0.5 wt%.
The step of forming the layer containing PEDOT / PSS and the binder can be performed under known conditions, and it is also preferable to perform the impregnation and immersion under reduced pressure or by applying ultrasonic waves under reduced pressure. The impregnation and drying can be repeated once or twice or more. The drying conditions are not limited as long as the solvent can be removed and the capacitor element is not adversely affected. For example, drying can be performed at 85 to 150 ° C. for 30 to 120 minutes. Particularly preferably, using a dispersion aqueous solution in which 0.05 to 1.0 wt% of poly-N-vinylacetamide is dissolved in an aqueous dispersion of 2.0 wt% PEDOT / PSS for 15 minutes under a reduced pressure of 10 kPa. A conductive polymer layer can be formed by repeating the steps of dipping and impregnation and drying at 100 ° C. for 60 minutes three times.
It is also preferable to have a further conductive polymer layer between the layer containing PEDOT / PSS and the binder and the dielectric oxide film as the conductive polymer layer. The further conductive polymer layer is formed using a solution mainly composed of polythiophene, polypyrrole, polyaniline or a derivative thereof, that is, a conductive polymer layer mainly composed of polythiophene, polypyrrole, polyaniline or a derivative thereof. It is preferable. The concentration of the conductive polymer in the solution is 0.1 to 2.0 wt%, regardless of whether the solvent is alcohol, ethers, or aromatic, the conductive polymer is dissolved and the drying temperature is less than 250 ° C. A solvent that can be evaporated can be used. The drying conditions are not limited as long as the solvent can be removed and the capacitor element is not adversely affected. For example, drying can be performed at 100 to 250 ° C. for 30 to 120 minutes. The conductive polymer layer is formed by drying at 150 ° C. for 30 minutes, particularly preferably using a 0.5-1.5 wt% polyaniline / isopropyl alcohol solution as a solution for forming the conductive polymer layer. it can. As the polyaniline dopant, sulfosuccinic acid ester can be used.
In the solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention, the capacitor element is preferably impregnated with a non-ion conductive organic solvent having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or higher. Examples of the non-ion conductive organic solvent having a boiling point of 150 ° C. or higher include γ-butyrolactone, polyethylene glycol, sulfolane, dimethyl sulfoxide, dimethylformamide and the like. These nonionic conductive organic solvents are preferably impregnated so as to have a ratio of 30% to 100% with respect to the voids after the formation of the conductive polymer layer. When the nonionic conductive organic solvent is less than 30%, the moisture absorption amount of the capacitor element increases, and 85 ° C.-85% R.D. H. In the moisture resistance test, the characteristics change greatly after 1000 hours, which is not preferable.
By impregnating such a solvent into the capacitor element having the conductive polymer layer described above, the solid electrolytic capacitor becomes less susceptible to moisture, improving moisture resistance and suppressing product expansion during reflow. Thus, a solid electrolytic capacitor having both high moisture resistance and electrical characteristics and excellent product stability can be obtained.
As the separator of the solid electrolytic capacitor, a separator having no hydrolyzability can be preferably used. For example, a separator mainly composed of polyacrylonitrile or aramid is preferable.
The solid electrolytic capacitor of the present invention can be manufactured by producing a capacitor element having the above-described configuration, housing it in a case, curling the opening, and performing an aging treatment under known conditions.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described more specifically by way of examples. However, the present invention is not limited to the following examples.

[Example 1]
A tab terminal for an external lead electrode was connected to the anode foil and the cathode foil cut to a predetermined width. As the anode foil, an aluminum foil was used as a valve metal, and the surface of the valve metal was subjected to an etching treatment and a chemical conversion treatment to form a dielectric oxide film. The rating was 35 V-150 μF, and the size was φ8 × 9 mmL.
The anode foil and the cathode foil were wound through a separator made of 100% polyacrylonitrile to complete a wound element.
Subsequently, a so-called chemical conversion treatment was performed to repair the dielectric oxide film that was missing when the anode foil was cut or the external lead electrode was attached. Using a 0.5 wt% to 3.0 wt% chemical conversion solution in which ammonium adipate was dissolved in an aqueous solvent, a voltage approximated to the chemical conversion voltage value of the dielectric oxide film was applied to perform chemical conversion treatment.
Next, a conductive polymer layer that is a cathode layer of the solid electrolytic capacitor was formed.
First, the wound element was impregnated with a 1.0 wt% polyaniline / isopropyl alcohol solution and dried at 150 ° C. for 30 minutes to form a first conductive polymer layer.
Thereafter, a dispersion aqueous solution in which 0.2 wt% poly-N-vinylacetamide was dissolved in 2.0 wt% PEDOT / PSS aqueous dispersion was immersed and impregnated under a reduced pressure of 10 kPa for 15 minutes, and 60 ° C. at 60 ° C. Moisture was removed by heating for minutes. This impregnation and drying were repeated three times to form a second conductive polymer layer.
Furthermore, the element was impregnated by impregnating with polyethylene glycol (molecular weight 600) under a reduced pressure of 10 kPa for 30 minutes.
The capacitor element on which the conductive polymer layer was formed by the above method was housed in a metal case, and the opening of the metal case was curled. Subsequently, an aging treatment was performed by applying a rated voltage to the capacitor under a temperature condition of about 150 ° C. to complete a solid electrolytic capacitor.

[Evaluation of Solid Electrolytic Capacitors of Examples and Comparative Examples]
<Moisture resistance test>
About the solid electrolytic capacitor of Examples 1-8 and a comparative example, 85 degreeC-85% R. H. The electrical characteristics after 2000 hours when the rated voltage was continuously applied were measured. Tables 1 and 2 show the measurement results of the electrical characteristics before and after the test.
As shown in Tables 1 and 2, Examples 1 to 8 containing poly-N-vinylacetamide have a lower rate of change in electrical properties than the comparative examples, and by adding poly-N-vinylacetamide, solids The durability of electrolytic capacitors has been improved.
<Charge / discharge resistance test>
The solid electrolytic capacitors of Examples 1 to 8 and Comparative Example were charged and discharged at normal temperature (28.5 ° C.) at a test count of 100,000 times, a charge / discharge time of 5 seconds each, and a charge voltage of 35 V before and after the test Later electrical properties were measured. The measurement results are shown in Tables 3 and 4.
As shown in Tables 3 and 4, Examples 1 to 8 containing poly-N-vinylacetamide had a lower rate of change in electrical characteristics than the comparative examples, and improved charge / discharge resistance.
Also, from Tables 1 and 3, it can be seen that the initial characteristics can be equal to or higher than those of the comparative example by setting the concentration of poly-N-vinylacetamide to 0.01 to 1.0 wt%. . Furthermore, from Tables 2 and 4, it can be seen that the ESR change rate can be reduced with respect to the comparative example by setting the concentration of poly-N-vinylacetamide to 0.05 to 2.0 wt%.
Therefore, considering both the initial characteristics and the post-test electrical characteristics, it can be seen that the concentration of poly-N-vinylacetamide is preferably 0.05 to 1.0 wt%, and 0.05 to 0. 5 wt% is more preferable.
