Description
The present invention relates to a light source device and a projector.
As one of light source devices used in a projector, a light source device that irradiates a phosphor layer with excitation light as excitation light and generates fluorescence having a wavelength different from the excitation light has been proposed (for example, see
In the light source device, when the phosphor layer is damaged, the intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the light source device decreases. Also, when the intensity of the excitation light is reduced, the intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the light source device is reduced. When the phosphor layer is damaged, there is a possibility that high-power laser light does not enter the phosphor layer and is emitted from the light source device.
In the above light source device, there is not one cause for the decrease in the intensity of the fluorescence emitted from the light source device, and therefore there is a problem that it is difficult to perform an appropriate treatment when the intensity of the fluorescence decreases. .
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object thereof is to provide a light source device and a projector in which appropriate measures are taken when an abnormality occurs.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, a phosphor layer, a light source that emits excitation light that excites the phosphor layer, a first detection unit that detects the intensity of the excitation light, and the phosphor layer Based on the second detection unit for detecting the intensity of the emitted fluorescence, the excitation light intensity detected by the first detection unit, and the fluorescence intensity detected by the second detection unit, the light source And a control unit for controlling the output, and when the control unit includes a low output unit that periodically generates the fluorescence intensity detected by the second detection unit, the control unit is synchronized with the timing at which the low output unit is generated. Te, the light source device is provided that controls so as to stop the output of the light source.
The light source device according to the first aspect determines the state of the light source emitting the excitation light and the state of the phosphor layer by the first detection unit and the second detection unit, and determines the light source based on the excitation light intensity and the fluorescence intensity. Control. Therefore, there may be several abnormal states that cause a decrease in fluorescence intensity, but an appropriate treatment can be selected according to the state of the light source and the state of the phosphor layer. Specifically, the driving state of the light source can be changed according to the abnormal state that has occurred.
Further, when the light source device according to the present invention is applied to, for example, a projector, even if the phosphor layer is damaged for some reason, it is possible to prevent light having an intensity exceeding the reference level from being directly irradiated to the component parts of the projector. it can. That is, it is possible to prevent a secondary failure from being caused.
In the first aspect, the control unit may have a function of selecting a control method for controlling the light source based on the excitation light intensity and the fluorescence intensity.
According to this configuration, the light source can be driven by an appropriate control method according to the state of the light source and the state of the phosphor layer.
In the first aspect, when the fluorescence intensity is equal to or higher than a preset second threshold value and the excitation light intensity is weaker than the preset first threshold value, the control unit The control method may be changed to a control method that ignores the excitation light intensity detected by the first detection unit.
When the fluorescence intensity is greater than or equal to a preset second threshold value and the excitation light intensity is weaker than the preset first threshold value, the control unit has no problem with the phosphor layer, but the first detection unit It is determined that a failure has occurred. In this case, since the control unit changes the control method of the light source to a control method that ignores the excitation light intensity detected by the first detection unit, the drive of the light source is performed even though the light source can be used. It is possible to prevent the occurrence of problems such as stopping.
In the first aspect, the control unit may have a function of inspecting whether or not the light source has failed.
According to this configuration, the light source can be driven by an appropriate driving method according to the state of the light source and the state of the phosphor layer.
In the first aspect, the control unit is configured such that the fluorescence intensity is weaker than a preset second threshold, the excitation light intensity is weaker than a preset first threshold, and the light source has failed. If not, power greater than the initial drive power may be supplied to the light source.
According to this configuration, the fluorescence intensity can be increased because the intensity of the excitation light is increased when the fluorescence intensity becomes weaker than the preset second threshold value even though the light source has not failed. Thus, stable fluorescence intensity can be obtained.
In the first aspect, when the fluorescence intensity is weaker than a preset second threshold and the excitation light intensity is greater than or equal to a preset first threshold, the control unit It is good also as a structure which interrupts | blocks.
When the fluorescence intensity is weaker than a preset second threshold and the excitation light intensity is greater than or equal to the preset first threshold, the phosphor layer is damaged or deteriorated. Is determined. In this case, since the control unit blocks the excitation light, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of a problem that light having an intensity exceeding the reference level is continuously emitted.
The first aspect may further include a display unit that displays a predetermined message based on the detection result of the excitation light intensity and the detection result of the fluorescence intensity.
According to this configuration, for example, an error message is displayed on the display unit, so that the user can easily recognize an abnormal state occurring in the apparatus.
In the first aspect, the phosphor layer may be configured such that the excitation light is incident from one surface and the fluorescence is emitted from the other surface.
According to this configuration, when the phosphor layer is damaged, it is possible to prevent light having an intensity exceeding the reference level from being emitted from the light source device. Therefore, the effect of preventing the occurrence of other obstacles can be obtained remarkably.
The said 1st aspect WHEREIN: It is good also as a structure from which the part of the said excitation light which permeate | transmitted the said fluorescent substance layer and the light containing the said fluorescence comprise white light.
According to this configuration, it is possible to provide a light source device that can obtain white light.
In the first aspect, the phosphor layer may be rotated around a rotation axis when the excitation light is incident.
According to this configuration, since the positions where the excitation light is irradiated in the phosphor layer can be dispersed, the lifetime of the phosphor layer can be extended.
According to the second aspect of the present invention, the light source device according to the first aspect, a light modulation device that modulates light emitted from the light source device, and projection optics that projects light modulated by the light modulation device. And a projector comprising the system.
Since the projector which concerns on a 2nd aspect is provided with the above-mentioned light source device, it can project an image | video with a small fluctuation | variation of brightness. In addition, since each component is prevented from being damaged by light having an intensity exceeding the reference level, it has high reliability.

蛍光体粒子としては、通常知られたYAG(イットリウム・アルミニウム・ガーネット)系蛍光体層を用いることができる。 As the phosphor particles, a commonly known YAG (yttrium, aluminum, garnet) phosphor layer can be used. For example, a YAG phosphor layer having a composition represented by (Y, Gd) 3 (Al, Ga) 5O12: Ce having an average particle diameter of 10 [mu] m can be used. The phosphor particle forming material may be one kind, or a mixture of particles formed using two or more kinds of forming materials may be used as the phosphor particles.

As described above, in the
By the way, when the
As such a cause, there may be a case where an abnormality has occurred in the
It is also assumed that a part of the
In the portion where the defect occurs in the
When the laser light whose intensity exceeds the reference level is emitted from the
Therefore, the

制御部70は、CPU(Central Processing Unit)と、ROM(Read Only Memory)と、RAM(Random Access Memory)と(いずれも図示を省略する。)

For example, a photodiode is used as the excitation light

The

In the present embodiment, the
When driving of the
FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining a signal output to the
As shown in FIG. 4, the
In the monitoring, the
When fluorescence is emitted from the
In step SS2, the
In step SS3, the
If the
When the
In step SS6, the
On the other hand, when determining in step SS6 that the excitation light intensity K1 is weaker than the excitation light intensity threshold S1, the
According to this, although the
On the other hand, when determining in step SS3 that the excitation light intensity K1 is weaker than the excitation light intensity threshold S1, the
As a cause of the pumping light intensity K1 being weaker than the pumping light intensity threshold S1, for example, some failure that has occurred in the pumping
When the detection result by the fluorescence
On the other hand, when the detection result by the fluorescence
When no failure has occurred in the
On the other hand, when a failure occurs in the excitation light source 10 (in the case of YES), the
As described above, in the
Since the
Further, since the control unit has a function of inspecting whether or not the light source has failed, the control unit can drive the light source by an appropriate driving method according to the state of the light source and the state of the phosphor layer. For example, the
Although the
In addition, the
In the present embodiment, the case where the fluorescence intensity K2 gradually decreases with time as an example of the signal output to the
In such a case, when excitation light is irradiated to the defect position of the
Here, since the
In such low output portions K2a, K2b, K2c, K2d, the degree of decrease in the fluorescence intensity K2 increases in this order as the excitation light continues to be periodically irradiated.
Even when the output of fluorescence periodically decreases as described above, the
As described above, according to the
In addition, when the low output portion is periodically generated in the fluorescence intensity K2, the
In this case, the

In the present embodiment, the same reference numerals are given to configurations common to the
As shown in FIG. 6, the
In the present embodiment, the difference from the first embodiment is the configuration of the

In the present embodiment, the rotating
The pickup
The
In this embodiment, since a reflective rotary fluorescent plate is used, light including red light R and green light G is emitted toward the illumination
For example, a light emitting diode (LED) that emits blue light is used as the
In the present embodiment, the excitation
Also in the present embodiment, the excitation light
Based on such a configuration, the
Also in this embodiment, the same effect as that of the first embodiment can be obtained.
Although one embodiment of the invention has been described above, the content of the invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and can be appropriately changed without departing from the gist of the invention. For example, in the above embodiment, when it is determined in step SS3 that the excitation light intensity K1 is equal to or higher than the excitation light intensity threshold S1, the output from the
