Description
The present invention includes an EL device (electroluminescence device) used for a flat panel display, a backlight for liquid crystal, a light source for illumination, an electric decoration, a light source for signage, and the like, and an illumination device and a liquid crystal display using a light extraction member The present invention relates to a device and a display device.
In general, an organic EL element has a structure in which a light emitting layer containing a fluorescent organic compound is sandwiched between an anode and a cathode on a translucent substrate. Then, a DC voltage is applied to the anode and the cathode, electrons and holes are injected into the light emitting layer and recombined to generate excitons, and light emission when the excitons are deactivated is utilized. It leads to light emission.
Conventionally, in these EL elements, when the light emitted from the light emitting layer is emitted from the translucent substrate, there is a problem that the light is totally reflected on the translucent substrate and the light is lost. In this case, the light extraction efficiency of the EL element is generally said to be about 20%. For this reason, there is a problem that the higher the luminance is, the more input power is required. In this case, the load on the element increases and the reliability of the element itself is lowered.
In order to improve the external extraction efficiency of light, a method has been proposed in which fine irregularities are formed on the element substrate and a light beam lost due to total reflection is extracted to the outside. For example,
However, the above-described conventional techniques are not sufficient for improving the light extraction efficiency and suppressing the chromaticity change due to the emission angle of the emitted light.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and is intended to improve the light extraction efficiency by optimizing the light extraction efficiency and to improve the change in chromaticity coordinates due to the emission angle of the emitted light. It is an object of the present invention to provide an illumination device, a liquid crystal display device, and a display device using an advantageous light extraction sheet.
In order to solve the above-described problems, the present invention employs the following means.

The unit lenses are arranged at substantially equal intervals, the second unit lenses are arranged at substantially equal intervals in a second direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction, and the first unit lens and the second unit lens are viewed in a longitudinal section. In the convex curved surface shape of the first unit lens and the second unit lens, the displacement in the width direction is x, the midpoint of the displacement x is x = 0, and is included in the displacement x. For any point x1 and x2, x2> x1, the section height of the convex curved surface shape is f (x), and f (x) is the following formulas (1), (2), (3), (4 ) And (5), and the convex curvature of the first unit lens and the second unit lens The curvature radius of the shape is R (x), and R (x) is defined by the following formula (6), and satisfies the following formulas (7), (8), and (9): To do.
In addition, the radius of curvature R (x) in the equation (6) is obtained by gradually increasing the inclined surface from the center portion of the unit lens to the end portion that is the intersection with the emission surface of the light emitting unit according to the equation (7). A color difference improvement effect due to the change can be obtained. Further, by dR (x) / dx obtained by differentiating the curvature radius R (x) by the displacement x according to the equation (8) satisfies the equation (8), the amount of change in the curvature radius of the unit lens extends from the center to the end. The light emitted from the wide-angle region of the light emitting means can be deflected in the observation direction. Further, when d 2 R (x) / dx 2 satisfies the expression (9), the amount of change in the second derivative of the curvature radius R (x) of the unit lens decreases as it approaches the end from the center, and the effect of improving the color difference. Is expensive.
In addition, the illumination device according to the present invention defines S (x) that defines a difference between a change amount at the curvature radius R (x) of the first unit lens and the second unit lens at x = 0 and a change amount at the end portions E1 and E2. Is specified by the following formula (10), and S (x) preferably satisfies the following formula (11).
However, L is Ru Oh lens width of the convex curved surface of the first unit lens and the second unit lens.
Therefore, according to the equations (10) and (11), S (x) has a relative light amount increase rate of 20% or more and a relative color difference decrease rate of 10% or more.
Further, it is preferable that the following expression (13) is satisfied, where θ is the maximum inclination angle at the intersection between the convex curved surface shape of the first unit lens and the second unit lens and the exit surface of the light emitting means.
45 degrees ≦ θ ≦ 80 degrees (13)
Although it is preferable that the maximum inclination angle θ of the end portion of the unit lens is large, satisfying the expression (13) improves the relative color difference by 10% or more and does not cause difficulty in manufacturing the light extraction member.
The light emitting means is preferably an EL element.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows an illuminating

An
The
However, the

Next, the
In any case, since the
Further, in order to stably secure the thickness of the laminate between the light emitting
The
As shown in FIG. 3, the
In FIG. 1, light B <b> 0 emitted from the
As shown in FIG. 2, when the
Further, the light B0 emitted from the
By the way, as a conventional method for improving the external light extraction efficiency and color difference in the
However, the method of installing a structure portion such as a prism sheet has the following problems.
(A) In a structure in which the linear shape occupies most of the prism sheet or the like, the inclination angle is constant due to the linear shape of the prism, so that light at a specific angle can be efficiently extracted to the outside.
However, the light outside the above-mentioned specific angle has a low external extraction efficiency, and overall, there is a problem that the external extraction efficiency is low. In addition, the change in chromaticity coordinates depending on the emission angle of the
(B) The method of installing a diffusion film in which an uneven surface is formed by applying a filler to a
When a rough surface is formed by applying a filler to the
(C) The method of forming a microlens has the following problems.
The microlens can be molded with higher accuracy than the above-described diffusion filler, and can be formed into a substantially hemispherical shape with an increased aspect ratio. However, since the light from the
In addition, it is possible to fill the
Therefore, even in this case, the substantial occupation area ratio is around 76%. As a result, a flat surface remains about 24%, which causes a problem that the efficiency of external extraction of light becomes insufficient.
Therefore, in the illuminating
This
The

The
The convex
It is desirable that the
Therefore, the
Furthermore, as described above, the
When the
Further, in the configuration in which the
In particular, the light emitted from the
The
The
The cross-sectional shapes of the
Further, the convex

As described above, the shapes of the
FIG. 4A shows one end E1 of the unit lens where the lens width is L and the lens height is H on the convex

In FIG. 4B, when the value df (x) / dx obtained by differentiating the cross-sectional height f (x) of the unit lens (40, 50) by the displacement x becomes 0 at an arbitrary point x, the cross-section of the unit lens. The shape becomes an inflection point at point x. When the point x = 0, df (x) / dx = 0 (1)
Then, in the unit lens, the center point of the lens width L is the highest point of the cross-sectional height.

This is because the light emitted from the light-emitting

In FIG. 6B, the horizontal axis represents the maximum absolute value | d 2 f (x) / dx 2 | max obtained by differentiating the cross-section height f (x) twice by x, and the vertical axis represents the light extraction sheet. 7 is a relative color difference when the maximum change amount ΔEu′v ′ of the chromaticity coordinates u ′ and v ′ in the measurement visual field range of 0 to 80 degrees when 7 is not used is 1.00.

R (x 2 ) −R (x 1 ) = 0 (4A)
Further, when the radius of curvature R (x) satisfies the following equation (5A), the cross-sectional shape of the

In FIG. 8A, the relative light quantity increases as the value of S (x) increases, and gradually decreases as the value increases beyond a certain value. In FIG. 8B, the relative color difference decreases as the value of S (x) increases.
