Description
The present invention relates to a pedestrian protection device for a vehicle.
It has been proposed to protect a pedestrian by operating a pedestrian protection device such as a pop-up hood device or a hood airbag device at the time of a human collision when a pedestrian and a vehicle collide. However, if the hood airbag device is operated during high speed travel, the airbag may flow due to wind pressure. Further, when traveling at high speed, a pedestrian or the like is greatly raised by the collision with the bumper, so that there is a possibility that the airbag does not fall to a position where the airbag is deployed.
Patent Document 1 discloses a walking that prohibits the operation of a hood airbag device when the vehicle speed at the time of a collision (collision speed) exceeds a predetermined threshold according to the shape around the windshield or the inclination of the front pillar. An invention of a person protection device is disclosed. It has also been proposed to use a pop-up hood device to protect a colliding pedestrian when the hood airbag device is not activated during high-speed travel.
The engine hood equipped with a pop-up hood device has a low rigidity to protect the collision object. Therefore, when operating at high speed, the engine hood vibrates violently due to wind pressure and vehicle vibration, and the driver's May interfere with visibility. Therefore, based on the effective mass calculated from the load at the time of collision (collision load), it is determined whether the collision body is a pedestrian or the like, and the pop-up hood device is activated when the collision body is determined to be a pedestrian. Control that does not activate the pop-up hood device when it is determined that the collision object is not a pedestrian has been proposed. Such control can protect a pedestrian or the like that is a collision body, and when the collision body is not a pedestrian, the driver's field of view can be secured by not operating the pop-up hood device.
However, it cannot be said that the accuracy of determining whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian based on the effective mass is high. This is because, if the colliding body is an object having a mass comparable to that of a pedestrian, the effective mass calculated at the time of collision is the same as that of a pedestrian even if the object is not a pedestrian. In addition, since the computation processing related to the calculation of the effective mass after the collision and the determination of whether or not the collision object based on the calculated effective mass is a pedestrian takes time, there is a possibility that the operation of the pop-up hood device may not be in time when traveling at high speed. is there.
In view of the above facts, an object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle pedestrian protection device that enables precise control of a pedestrian protection device during high-speed driving.

In the vehicle pedestrian protection device according to claim 1, when the collision is detected by the load detection unit, the control unit starts calculating the effective mass of the collision object, and whether or not the collision speed exceeds a threshold value. Determine. When traveling at high speeds where the collision speed exceeds the threshold, it is determined whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian based on the information detected by the collision object determination information detection unit, and the calculated effective The hood pop-up mechanism is activated when the mass exceeds a threshold value.
Thus, in the pedestrian protection device for a vehicle according to claim 1, the control unit executes the calculation of the effective mass of the collision object that requires time for the calculation process in parallel processing, while the collision object determination information detection unit is Whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian is determined based on the detected information. By determining whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian prior to the calculation of the effective mass of the collision object, it is possible to quickly determine whether or not the pedestrian protection device needs to be operated when traveling at high speed.

Whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian is determined based on the image of the collision object photographed by the camera and the infrared rays emitted by the collision object detected by the infrared sensor.
In the vehicle pedestrian protection device according to the third aspect, it is possible to more accurately determine whether or not the collision object is a pedestrian by further including an infrared sensor that detects infrared rays emitted by the pedestrian.

(Rear pop-up hood device)
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the rear pop-
As shown in FIG. 2, the rear pop-
As shown in FIG. 2, the pop-up

(Front pop-up hood device)
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the front pop-up
The
An ignition device and a gas generating agent are incorporated in the cylinder, and the ignition device ignites under the control of the
(Vehicle hood airbag device)
As shown in FIG. 2, the vehicle
As shown in FIG. 1, in a state where the
The left and
As described above, in the present embodiment, the pop-up
(ECU)
(ECU)
As shown in FIG. 1, the
The
The
For example, the in-
m=∫F(t)dt/v ・・・(2)
The
m × v = ∫F (t) dt (1)
Accordingly, the effective mass m can be calculated by the following equation (2) obtained by dividing the time integral value of the collision load, which is the right side of the equation (1), by the collision velocity v.
m = ∫F (t) dt / v (2)
The

(Operation and effect of this embodiment)
Next, the operation and effect of the present embodiment will be described. FIG. 3 is a flowchart showing an example of a process at the time of collision of the vehicle
If the determination in

By detecting the infrared rays emitted from the collision body with an infrared sensor, it is possible to determine whether the collision body is a living body such as a pedestrian. Further, by using a millimeter wave radar that detects the distance to an obstacle ahead, an object that may collide can be detected as a collision object in advance. Furthermore, before an object regarded as a collision object actually collides, the shape and size of the object can be calculated based on the image of the object and the distance between the vehicle and the object. Specifically, the object and the vehicle detected by the millimeter wave radar are calculated based on the distance of the object regarded as the collision object and the apparent size of the object on the image calculated from the image captured by the in-
If the determination in
In

In
If the determination in any of
If the determination in
If the determination in
If a negative determination is made in any of
