Description
The present invention relates to an axle housing used for a vehicle such as a truck and a manufacturing method thereof, and more particularly to an axle housing having a high strength welded portion between a main body and a tube end and a manufacturing method thereof.
Steel axle housings are used for the rear axles of large vehicles such as trucks. The axle housing serves to support a load such as a load while accommodating the tip of the propeller shaft, a differential gear, an axle shaft, and the like.
A pipe-like tube end (spindle) for supporting the wheel bearing and transmitting the rotation of the axle shaft to the wheel is attached to the end of the axle housing. As an example of the tube end mounting structure, as shown in FIG. 7A, there is a butting structure in which the end of the
Generally, the
In view of the function of the axle housing that supports a load such as a vehicle load, the axle housing needs to have high mechanical strength. In particular, high mechanical strength is required for the weld. However, when shrinkage cracks occur in the
The problem to be solved by the present invention is to provide an axle housing having high mechanical strength in which shrinkage cracking is prevented from occurring in a welded portion between a main body portion and a tube end, and a method for manufacturing such an axle housing. There is to do.
In order to solve the above-described problems, an axle housing according to the present invention includes a main body having a trunk portion that accommodates a differential gear of a vehicle, and cylindrical portions that extend to both ends of the trunk portion, and the cylindrical portion. A tube end joined to the tip by welding, and the welded portion between the tubular portion and the tube end is formed from two or more weld layers made of the same metal formed by two or more welds. The gist is that it is formed.
Here, the tip of the cylindrical portion is subjected to upsetting to increase the thickness by pushing in the longitudinal direction while heating, and removal of the black skin by cutting a part of the inner wall surface, The part from which the black skin has been removed has the same or larger thickness as the other parts, and the tube end is press-fitted into the tubular part in an interference fit, and the tip part of the tubular part is It is preferable that the weld is formed between the outer wall surfaces of the tube end.
Furthermore, it is preferable that the penetration rate of the welded portion is 105% or more.
Moreover, the said weld part consists of carbon steel, and the aspect ratio represented by ratio H / W of the height (H) with respect to the width (W) along the longitudinal direction of the said cylindrical part is 1.2 or more. The weld layers may have an aspect ratio of less than 1.2.
Then, the welding start point and end point of the welded portion are defined by taking the axis parallel to the traveling direction of the vehicle in the assembled state in the vehicle as the front-rear axis and the axis parallel to the vertical direction of the vehicle as the vertical axis, It is preferable that a straight line connecting the start point and the end point and the central axis of the cylindrical portion is formed at a position closer to the front and rear axes than the vertical axis.
A method for manufacturing an axle housing according to the present invention includes a main body having a trunk portion that accommodates a differential gear of a vehicle, and cylindrical portions that extend to both ends of the trunk portion, and is attached to the tip of the cylindrical portion. In the manufacturing method of an axle housing provided with a tube end, welding is performed while rotating the cylindrical part twice or more, so that two or more layers made of the same metal are provided between the cylindrical part and the tube end. The gist is to form a welded portion having a weld layer.
Here, after performing the upsetting process to increase the thickness of the distal end portion of the tubular portion by pushing in the longitudinal direction while heating the distal end portion of the tubular portion, the distal end portion of the tubular portion is A part of the inner wall surface is cut to remove the black skin, the thickness of the tip of the cylindrical part is equal to or greater than the thickness before the upsetting, and the tube end is formed into the cylindrical shape. It is preferable to form the welded part after press-fitting into the part in an interference fit.
Furthermore, the aspect ratio represented by ratio H / W of the height (H) with respect to the width | variety (W) along the longitudinal direction of the said cylindrical part is used for each said weld layer as less than 1.2. It is preferable to form the welded portion so that the aspect ratio is 1.2 or more.
Further, the welding for forming each weld layer may be performed by placing a welding wire at a position shifted from a vertical axis passing through the rotation center of the cylindrical portion.
In the axle housing according to the invention, the welded portion is not formed by one welding, but is formed by two or more weldings divided into two or more welding layers. Even if the aspect ratio H / W, which is the ratio of the height (H) to the width (W), is large as a whole welded portion, the aspect ratio of each weld layer is made smaller than the aspect ratio of the entire weld layer. be able to. Thus, shrinkage cracking during welding is less likely to occur than when the entire weld is formed by a single weld. Thereby, high mechanical strength is obtained in the weld between the main body and the tube end.
Here, the tip of the cylindrical portion is subjected to upsetting and removal of the black skin, and the portion where the black skin is removed is the same as or larger than the other portions. When the tube end is press-fitted into the tubular portion in an interference fit, and the welded portion is formed between the distal end portion of the tubular portion and the outer wall surface of the tube end, Due to the effect that the thickness of the part joined to the tube end of the cylindrical part is not smaller than the other part, the effect that the welded part is composed of two or more weld layers as described above. In addition, the mechanical strength of the joint portion between the main body and the tube end is further increased. Furthermore, even when the tube end is press-fitted into the cylindrical portion, the mechanical strength of the joining portion is lower than when the welded portion is formed in a butt structure or a simple spigot structure. Be improved.
Furthermore, when the penetration rate of the weld is 105% or more, higher mechanical strength can be obtained at the weld.
Moreover, when the said weld part consists of carbon steel, the aspect ratio represented by ratio H / W of the height (H) with respect to the width (W) along the longitudinal direction of the said cylindrical part is 1.2 or more. Yes, if the aspect ratio of each weld layer is less than 1.2, the shrinkage cracking for each weld layer is effectively avoided, while the shrinkage cracking is likely to occur if it is formed by one ordinary welding. A weld having an aspect ratio can be formed.
Then, the welding start point and end point of the welded portion are defined by taking the axis parallel to the traveling direction of the vehicle in the assembled state in the vehicle as the front-rear axis and the axis parallel to the vertical direction of the vehicle as the vertical axis, When a straight line connecting the start point and the end point and the central axis of the cylindrical portion is formed at a position closer to the front and rear axes than the vertical axis, the strength tends to be inferior compared to other parts. A load from a vehicle load or the like is relatively less likely to be applied to the start and end points of a certain weld. Therefore, the load can be supported by a welded portion having a particularly high strength other than the start point and the end point, and the high strength of the welded portion obtained by avoiding shrinkage cracking as described above can be effectively used. .
According to the method for manufacturing an axle housing according to the invention, since the welded portion is formed by two or more welds, the occurrence of cracks in the welded portion due to forming a welded portion having a large aspect ratio by one welding is prevented. can do. Thereby, the axle housing with high strength of the weld between the main body and the tube end can be manufactured.
Here, when welding for forming each weld layer is performed by placing a welding wire at a position shifted from a vertical axis passing through the rotation center of the tubular portion, the molten metal is welded by rotation. It is possible to avoid outflow from the steel and to achieve a high penetration rate, so that a weld having high mechanical strength can be formed.
Hereinafter, an axle housing and a manufacturing method thereof according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows an outline of an axle housing 1 according to an embodiment of the present invention. The axle housing 1 is used for a rear axle of a large vehicle such as a truck, and functions as a gear box that accommodates a differential gear and the like, and plays a role of supporting a load such as a vehicle load.
The
Hollow

A flange (not shown) and a cover (not shown in FIG. 1, refer to FIG. 5) are finally attached to both end faces 11a of the
Next, the details of the structure of the axle housing 1 will be described together with its manufacturing method.
The
The two
Next, the
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 2B, the inner wall surface of the
Next, the
Next, the
And as shown in FIG. 3, the welding for fixing between the main-
Here, with reference to FIG. 6, the definition of the structural parameter of the welded portion will be described. The thickness of the weld base material 61 (in the axle housing 1, the
In the axle housing 1, as shown in FIG. 3, the welded
In the main welded
In general, the main body portion of the axle housing is manufactured from a steel material having a relatively large thickness so as to have a high strength enough to support a load such as a vehicle load. For example, a configuration in which the plate thickness is 6 mm can be exemplified. When using a steel material having a large plate thickness, the height H increases in the welded portion, and as a result, the aspect ratio H / W tends to increase. When the aspect ratio of the welded portion is increased, shrinkage cracking, that is, cracking of the welded portion due to stress during solidification of the bead tends to occur. When a general carbon steel is used as the welding material, when the aspect ratio H / W is approximately 1.2 to 1.3 or more, the occurrence probability of shrinkage cracks is significantly increased. When a weld with a large aspect ratio is formed by a single weld, it is directly affected by such shrinkage cracking. When shrinkage cracks occur in the welded portion between the main body portion of the axle housing and the tube end, the mechanical strength of this portion is lowered.
In the welded
As described above, when the aspect ratio H / W of a welded portion formed by one-time welding using carbon steel is 1.2 to 1.3 or larger, shrinkage cracks are likely to occur. In the welded
Further, the penetration ratio of the entire welded
As shown in FIG. 3 (b), in order to easily increase the penetration rate of the welded
Next, a welding method for forming the welded
The welded
At this time, if the
In addition, at the start and end points of welding, the arc tends to be unstable, and it is difficult to obtain high mechanical strength as compared with other points. The axle housing has a particularly high mechanical strength in a portion located in the vertical direction of the vehicle that receives the load in a concentrated manner so that the axle housing is not damaged even if it receives a load from a load or the like of the vehicle. Desirably, it is desirable that the portion having relatively low mechanical strength is disposed at a position far from the top and bottom. FIG. 5 is a schematic view of the axle housing 1 as viewed from the front end side of the
In the present axle housing 1, since the welded
When the thickness of the
As described above, in the axle housing 1 according to the present embodiment, (i) the welded
As mentioned above, although embodiment of this invention was described in detail, this invention is not limited to the said embodiment, A various change is possible in the range which does not deviate from the summary of this invention. For example, in the said embodiment, although the structure which forms a welding part from two layers of welding layers was shown, a welding layer can also be made into three or more layers. What is necessary is just to select the number of layers suitably according to the aspect ratio H / W etc. of the whole welding part to form finally so that the shrinkage crack in the welding layer for every layer can be avoided effectively.
