Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting device and a method for manufacturing the same.
A light emitting element having a monochromatic peak wavelength, such as a light emitting diode (hereinafter referred to as LED), cannot emit light of a desired color by itself. Therefore, an LED and a method for forming the LED have been proposed in which a fluorescent material that converts the wavelength of light emitted from the LED to another wavelength is applied onto the light emission surface of the LED (see, for example, Patent Document 1). . In this LED, a fluorescent material is applied to the light emitting surface of the LED using an ink jet printing method. Here, when the amount of the fluorescent material to be applied is different for each LED chip, the emission chromaticity varies. Therefore, the manufactured LED is actually made to emit light and its chromaticity is measured, and an additional fluorescent material is applied based on the difference between the measured chromaticity and the reference chromaticity, so that the chromaticity for each LED chip is obtained. Chromaticity adjustment is performed to suppress the variation in color.
However, in the application of the fluorescent material by inkjet, it is difficult to make the amount of the fluorescent material to be deposited uniform over the entire area of the light emission surface, and thus chromaticity unevenness may occur in the irradiation pattern of the emitted light. there were. In addition, since there is a limit to the amount of fluorescent material that can be deposited by inkjet, that is, the thickness, it has been difficult to increase the adjustment range of chromaticity adjustment. Therefore, there is a case where it cannot be adjusted to a desired chromaticity by chromaticity adjustment, resulting in a problem that the yield cannot be improved. In addition, when applying the fluorescent material by ink jet, it is necessary to reciprocate the head for discharging the fluorescent material along the light emitting surface of the LED, resulting in a problem that the manufacturing time becomes long.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described points, and suppresses chromaticity unevenness in the emission pattern of emitted light and variations in emission chromaticity in manufacturing, and shortens manufacturing time and improves yield. It is an object of the present invention to provide a light-emitting device that can be used, and a method for manufacturing the same.
A light-emitting device according to the present invention has a structure in which a light-emitting element, a wavelength conversion layer that converts the wavelength of light emitted from the light-emitting element to emit converted light, and a transparent plate having light transmittance are stacked. The transparent plate has a concavo-convex region having a plurality of concavo-convex shapes on the surface, and chromaticity adjustment for adjusting the chromaticity of the converted light on the transparent plate including the concavo-convex region. A chromaticity adjustment layer including a material is formed, and the chromaticity adjustment layer is formed along the shape of the plurality of irregularities .
Further, the method of manufacturing a semiconductor device according to the present invention includes a step of forming a wavelength conversion layer that converts the wavelength of the light emitted from the light emitting element and emits converted light on the light emitting surface of the light emitting element; Forming a transparent plate having optical transparency on the wavelength conversion layer; forming a concavo-convex region having a plurality of concavo-convex shapes by subjecting the surface of the transparent plate to concavo-convex processing; and the concavo-convex region. said transparent board including, have a, forming a chromaticity-adjusting layer including a chromaticity adjustment member for adjusting the chromaticity of the converted light, in the step of forming the chromaticity-adjusting layer is The chromaticity adjusting layer is formed by spraying along the shape of the plurality of irregularities .
As described above, in the light emitting device according to the present invention, when the converted light obtained by converting the wavelength of the light emitted from the light emitting element by the wavelength conversion layer is emitted through the transparent plate, the surface of the transparent plate is subjected to uneven processing. By forming a chromaticity adjusting layer including a chromaticity adjusting material on the surface, variations in emission chromaticity in manufacturing are suppressed.
According to such a configuration, even when the chromaticity adjusting layer is formed by spraying the solution containing the chromaticity adjusting material on the upper surface of the transparent plate, for example, the surface of the transparent plate has an uneven shape, The chromaticity adjusting solution applied to the surface does not flow around by the wind pressure caused by spraying. Thereby, partial aggregation on the surface of the transparent plate by the chromaticity adjusting solution is prevented. Therefore, even when the chromaticity adjusting solution is sprayed simultaneously on the surfaces of a plurality of transparent plates with a single spray device, it is possible to form a chromaticity adjusting layer having a uniform thickness on the surface of each transparent plate. It becomes. In addition, since the applied chromaticity adjusting solution is stagnant around each concave portion of the uneven surface, the chromaticity adjusting solution has a uniform layer thickness over the entire area and can sufficiently secure the width of chromaticity adjustment. It is possible to form a chromaticity adjusting layer having a thicker layer thickness. Therefore, even if the chromaticity of the converted light emitted from the wavelength conversion layer is deviated from the desired chromaticity, it can be adjusted to the desired chromaticity by the chromaticity adjustment layer, so that the yield is increased. Improvement comes to be achieved. Furthermore, for example, it is possible to form a chromaticity adjusting layer on the upper surface of the transparent plate by spraying the chromaticity adjusting solution, so that an inkjet or a reciprocating ink jet head for discharging the chromaticity adjusting material along the light emitting surface or Compared with the case where the chromaticity adjustment layer is formed using a jet dispensing apparatus, the manufacturing time can be shortened and the chromaticity unevenness in the irradiation pattern of emitted light can be reduced.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1A is a cross-sectional view showing a cross section of a
The
The
The
That is, the light emitted from the
The
The
FIG. 1B is a top view showing the magnitude relationship and the positional relationship between the light emitting surface RF of the
In addition, as shown in FIG. 1A, the concave and convex portions provided in the concave and convex area CA are transparent or translucent made of, for example, titanium oxide, alumina, zinc oxide or the like as a material for adjusting chromaticity. A
With the configuration described above, in the
However, a solid difference may occur in the
Below, the manufacturing method of the light-emitting
Next, a
Next, by the processes of steps S3 to S5 shown in FIG. 2, the above-described uneven area CA is formed on the surface of the
That is, first, an unevenness process with a depth DH as shown in FIG. 3B is performed on the region excluding the peripheral edge EA on the upper surface of the
Next, as shown in FIG. 3 (c), a transparent or translucent low viscosity (for example, 10 mPa · s to 500 mPa · s) light scattering material such as titanium oxide, alumina, zinc oxide or the like using a spray device SP. Is sprayed onto the uneven area CA of the transparent plate 15 (step S4). As shown in FIG. 3D, the
Next, the chromaticity of the light emitted from the concavo-convex area CA of the
As described above, in the
In addition, since the applied chromaticity adjusting solution is stagnant around each concave portion of the uneven surface, the chromaticity adjusting solution has a uniform layer thickness over the entire area and can sufficiently secure the width of chromaticity adjustment. It becomes possible to form the
Furthermore, since the
As described above, according to the
