Description
この構成によれば、熱衝撃により生じる環状クラックを発生させようとする応力を環状列の第2の端面側で効果的に受けることができるので、より確実に環状クラックの発生を誘導することができる。
この構成によれば、複数の環状列が互いに並列することで、環状列の第2の端面側の強度を他の箇所より更に低くすることができ、より確実に環状クラックの発生を誘導することができる。
この構成によれば、環状列を形成する第2流路の断面面積の平均が環状列を形成しない第2流路の断面面積の平均より大きいので、流路列の第2の端面側の強度を他の箇所より一層低くすることができ、より確実に環状クラックの発生を誘導することができる。
図1に示されるように、第1の実施形態に係るハニカム構造体10は、DPF[Diesel Particulate Filter]等に取り付けられ、内燃機関の排出ガスを浄化するためのフィルタとして用いられる円柱状の構造体である。円柱状のハニカム構造体10は、中心軸CLに沿って延在している。以後、中心軸CLの延在方向を中心軸方向と称する。
第2の実施形態に係るハニカム構造体20は、第1の環状列W1、第2の環状列W2、及び放射状の流路列W3が形成されている点と、第2流路Rb3を有している点と、が第1の実施形態に係るハニカム構造体10と比べて異なる。なお、第1の実施形態と対応する部分には対応する符号を付し、重複する説明を省略する。
Claims (2)
- 内燃機関の排出ガスを浄化するためのフィルタとして用いられ、中心軸に沿って延在する柱状のハニカム構造体であって、
前記中心軸の延在方向で互いに対向する第1の端面及び第2の端面と、
前記中心軸に沿って延在する複数の第1流路及び複数の第2流路を形成する隔壁と、を有し、
前記第1流路は、前記第1の端面側が開口され、前記第2の端面側が封口されており、
前記第2流路は、前記第1の端面側が封口され、前記第2の端面側が開口されており、
前記第1の端面の全体面積に対する全ての前記第1流路の開口面積を合せた面積の割合は、前記第2の端面の全体面積に対する全ての前記第2流路の開口面積を合せた面積の割合より大きく、
前記中心軸の延在方向から見て、前記第2の端面側に、
前記隔壁を隔てて隣り合う前記第2流路を環状に並べて形成された環状列と、
前記隔壁を隔てて隣り合う前記第1流路と前記第2流路とを並べて形成された前記環状列以外の領域と、を有し、
前記環状列は、前記第2流路を一列に環状に並べて形成された複数の列同士が、前記第1流路を介することなく、前記隔壁を隔てて隣り合って並列することにより形成されている、ハニカム構造体。 - 前記環状列は、前記中心軸を囲むように形成されている請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。
