Description
The present invention relates to a light diffusing sheet used for, for example, a backlight of a liquid crystal display device. In particular, the present invention relates to a light diffusing sheet that can exhibit high front luminance and diffusibility required as a light diffusing sheet, and a backlight using the same.
In recent years, color liquid crystal display devices are used in various fields such as notebook computers, desktop computers, mobile phones, PDAs, car navigation devices, PNDs, game machines, and portable music players. The color liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal cell and a backlight. As the structure of the backlight, a direct light type structure in which a light source is provided directly below the liquid crystal cell via a diffusion plate, or a light source is a light guide plate. The structure of the edge light system provided on the side surface is known.
In such a backlight, a light diffusing sheet is laminated on the light emitting surface of the light guide plate or the diffusing plate in order to make the light from the light source uniform, and in addition, an optical member such as a prism sheet is laminated to increase the front luminance. (Patent Document 1).
In particular, in recent years, in the fields of mobile phones, PDAs, and the like, for example, one-seg broadcasting can be viewed, and therefore, there is an environment where higher definition images can be viewed. In order to make such high-definition images visible, the liquid crystal pixels of the liquid crystal cell provided in the liquid crystal display device tend to be smaller and the transmittance of light from the light source is larger than before when the liquid crystal pixels are used. Drops drastically and the front brightness is poor.
In order to improve such a decrease in front luminance, it has been demanded to increase the luminance of the backlight, and recently, in response to such a demand, a high luminance LED has been used as a light source. A backlight designed using such a high-intensity LED as a light source is likely to cause a large deviation in luminance between a portion near the light source and other portions, and the luminance distribution on the light exit surface of the backlight is further less than that in the past. It tends to be uniform. Therefore, if the conventionally used light diffusive sheet is used as it is, the light from the high-brightness LED cannot be sufficiently diffused, and the luminance distribution remains non-uniform.
On the other hand, if the design such as simply increasing the content of the diffusing agent in the light diffusing sheet is made up to compensate for the decrease in diffusibility, the diffusibility is improved, but this time the front luminance is poor. That is, it can be said that a light diffusion film that achieves both diffusibility and front luminance in an environment where high-visibility video visibility is required as in recent years has not been sufficiently designed.
Thus, according to one aspect of the present invention, there is provided a light diffusive sheet that exhibits high diffusibility that can eliminate uneven luminance distribution due to a light source while ensuring front luminance, and a backlight using the same.
As a result of earnest research on the above-mentioned problems, the present inventor has found that high diffusibility is exhibited while ensuring the front luminance by specifying the shape of the surface of the diffusion layer. It has come.
That is, the light diffusive sheet of the present invention includes a diffusion layer, and the diffusion layer has a surface shape that satisfies at least one of the following

Condition 4: Rzjis is 12.0 μm or more when the ten-point average roughness (JIS B0601: 2001) in two-dimensional surface shape measurement is Rzjis.
In the present invention, the diffusion layer may satisfy only
The light diffusing sheet of the present invention can be used, for example, for a backlight in which a high-intensity LED light source having a luminous intensity of 1000 mcd or more is incorporated. Even when it is used for this purpose, it can be made to have an excellent balance between the front luminance and the light diffusibility as a backlight device, as compared with the case where a light diffusive sheet having a conventional configuration is used.
The backlight of the present invention includes at least a light source, an optical plate disposed adjacent to the light source, for guiding or diffusing light, and a light diffusing sheet disposed on the light emitting side of the optical plate. The provided light diffusing sheet is the light diffusing sheet of the present invention. As the light source, for example, an LED light source such as a high-intensity LED light source having a luminous intensity of 1000 mcd or more can be used.
According to the present invention, by making the surface shape of the diffusion layer specific, the luminance caused by the light source is ensured while ensuring the front luminance required as a light diffusive sheet that has been difficult to achieve conventionally. It is possible to provide a light diffusing sheet that exhibits high diffusibility that can eliminate uneven distribution.
Particularly in recent years, there has been an increasing demand for thinning of liquid crystal display devices, and when the conventional light diffusing sheet is thinned, the balance between front luminance and diffusivity tends to be further deteriorated. According to the diffusive sheet, both the front luminance and the diffusibility are remarkably exhibited even if the sheet is thinned.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the light diffusive sheet of the present invention will be described.

The diffusion layer of the present invention is adjusted so as to satisfy one or both of the

It can comprise only binder resin, without using particle | grains, such as a diffusing agent which participates in this. On the other hand, when forming with a coating solution comprising a binder resin and a diffusing agent without using a transfer shaping technique, the average particle size of the diffusing agent, the coefficient of variation of the particle size distribution, the binder resin and the diffusing agent in the diffusion layer, By setting the ratio and the thickness of the diffusion layer within an appropriate range described later, the desired surface irregularity shape of the present invention can be realized.

It is preferable to do. Furthermore, it is more preferable that the average particle diameter of the diffusing agent is 1 to 20 μm from the viewpoint of preventing glare caused by light leakage from the light diffusion layer and from the viewpoint of low cost.

The content ratio of the diffusing agent with respect to the binder resin in the diffusion layer of the present invention is not unambiguous depending on the average particle diameter of the diffusing agent used or the thickness of the light diffusing layer, but the desired surface shape of the diffusing layer of the present invention is obtained. It is preferable to contain 100 to 250 parts by weight of a diffusing agent with respect to 100 parts by weight of the binder resin from the viewpoint of facilitating the performance balance between light diffusibility and front luminance. Furthermore, it is preferable to set it as 100-200 weight part from a viewpoint which prevents the fall of transparency resulting from the refractive index difference of resin and microparticles | fine-particles, and makes it low-cost. In one aspect of the light diffusing sheet of the present invention, the diffusion layer contains 113 parts by weight or more and 204 parts by weight or less of the diffusing agent with respect to 100 parts by weight of the binder resin. Or it contains 120 parts by weight or more and less than 180 parts by weight of the diffusing agent with respect to 100 parts by weight of the binder resin.

By setting the thickness to 10 μm or more, the coating film strength can be made sufficient, and the handling property can be made good. On the other hand, when the thickness is 500 μm or less, the transparency of the diffusion layer can be improved. Moreover, when forming a diffused layer on a support body, it is preferable to set it as 5-60 micrometers from a viewpoint of making it easy to obtain the surface shape of the diffused layer of this invention, exhibiting light-diffusion performance, and 7-30 micrometers. Moreover, in order to improve adhesiveness with a light-diffusion layer, what gave the surface a corona discharge process or provided the easily bonding layer is used suitably. In addition, it is preferable that the thickness of a support body is about 10-400 micrometers normally.
In addition, the surface of the light diffusing sheet of the present invention opposite to the uneven surface is subjected to a fine matte treatment to prevent adhesion to other members, or an antireflection treatment to improve light transmittance. You may give it. Furthermore, you may provide a backcoat layer, an antistatic layer, and an adhesion layer with the following application | coating drying methods.
Here, generally, the total thickness of the light diffusion sheet is usually about 20 to 460 μm, but if the diffusion layer is adjusted so as to satisfy one or both of the
When the light diffusing sheet of the present invention is produced by coating or the like without using a transfer shaping technique, a diffusion layer coating solution in which materials such as the binder resin and the diffusing agent described above are dissolved in an appropriate solvent is used. It is prepared by applying to a support by a conventionally known method, for example, bar coater, blade coater, spin coater, roll coater, gravure coater, flow coater, die coater, spray, screen printing, etc., and drying. Can do. Moreover, the light diffusable sheet which consists of a single diffusion layer can also be produced by peeling and removing the said support body from what formed the diffusion layer on the support body.
According to the light diffusing sheet of the present invention described above, both diffusibility and front luminance can be achieved in the environment of liquid crystal display devices with high definition in recent years. It is suitably used in various fields such as a personal computer, a mobile phone, a PDA, a car navigation device, a PND, a game machine, and a portable music player.
Next, an embodiment of the backlight of the present invention provided with the light diffusing sheet of the present invention will be described. The backlight of the present invention comprises at least the light diffusing sheet of the present invention and a light source. Although the direction of the light diffusive sheet in the backlight is not particularly limited, it is preferably used so that the concavo-convex surface becomes the light exit surface. The backlight preferably employs a so-called edge light type or direct type.
An edge light type backlight device includes a light guide plate, a light source disposed at least at one end of the light guide plate, a light diffusing sheet disposed on the light exit surface side of the light guide plate, and the like. Here, the light diffusing sheet is preferably used so that the uneven surface becomes the light emitting surface. Further, a prism sheet may be used between the light guide plate and the light diffusing sheet. With such a configuration, a backlight device having an excellent balance between front luminance and viewing angle can be obtained.
The light guide plate is a substantially flat plate shaped so that at least one side surface is a light incident surface and one surface substantially orthogonal to the light incident surface is a light output surface, and is mainly highly transparent such as polymethyl methacrylate. A matrix resin selected from various resins. If necessary, resin particles having a refractive index different from that of the matrix resin may be added. Each surface of the light guide plate may have a complicated surface shape instead of a uniform plane, or may be provided with diffusion printing such as a dot pattern.
The light source is disposed at least at one end of the light guide plate, and a cold cathode tube, an LED light source, or the like is mainly used. Examples of the shape of the light source include a dot shape, a line shape, and an L shape. Among such light sources, when an LED light source, particularly a high-intensity LED light source (having a luminous intensity of about 1000 to 2000 mcd) is used, it is difficult to balance front luminance and light diffusibility as a backlight device. However, even in such a case, by combining with the light diffusive sheet of the present invention, the balance between the front luminance and the light diffusibility can be improved.
In addition to the above-described light diffusing sheet, light guide plate, and light source, the edge light type backlight device includes a reflector, a polarizing film, an electromagnetic wave shielding film, and the like depending on the purpose.
Next, the direct type backlight device includes a light diffusing sheet and a light diffusing material, a light source, and the like, which are sequentially provided on a surface opposite to the light emitting surface of the light diffusing sheet. Here, the light diffusing sheet is preferably used so that the uneven surface becomes the light emitting surface. A prism sheet may be used between the light diffusing material and the light diffusing sheet. With such a configuration, a backlight device having an excellent balance between front luminance and viewing angle can be obtained.
The light diffusing material is used to erase the pattern of the light source. In addition to a milky white resin plate, a transparent film (lighting curtain) with a dot pattern formed on the part corresponding to the light source, uneven light diffusion on the transparent substrate So-called light diffusion films having layers can be used alone or in appropriate combination.
As the light source, the same light source as that used in the above-described edge light type backlight device can be used. In addition to the above-described light diffusing sheet, light diffusing material, and light source, the direct type backlight device may include a reflecting plate, a polarizing film, an electromagnetic wave shielding film, and the like depending on the purpose.
The backlight device of the present invention comprises at least a light source, an optical plate disposed adjacent to the light source, for directing or diffusing, and a light diffusing sheet disposed on the light emitting side of the optical plate. In addition, since the above-described light diffusive sheet of the present invention is used as the light diffusive sheet, the balance between front luminance and light diffusibility can be improved.

2. Two-dimensional surface shape measurement of the diffusion layer of the light diffusing sheet About the diffusion layer surface of the light diffusing sheets of Examples 1 to 4 and Comparative Examples 1 to 3, a stylus type surface shape measuring machine (SAS-2010 SAU-II: Meishin Koki Co., Ltd.,
For the diffusion layer surfaces of the light diffusing sheets of Examples 1 to 3 and Comparative Examples 2, 4, and 5, using the same measuring machine, peak count Pc in two-dimensional surface shape measurement and ten-point average in two-dimensional surface shape measurement The roughness Rzjis was measured arbitrarily at 10 locations, and the average value of these was obtained. The measurement results are shown in Table 2.
3. Next, the light diffusive sheet obtained in each example was used in a 3.5-inch edge light type backlight (6 LED light sources with a luminous intensity of 1400 mcd, with a built-in light guide plate with a thickness of 0.6 mm). The backlight of each example was produced by incorporating so that the support body of the said light diffusable sheet might oppose the light-guide plate of the said backlight.
4). Evaluation (1) Front luminance The backlight obtained in each example was turned on, and the front luminance at point P near the center of the light exit surface of the
(2) Light diffusibility (light uniformity across the entire backlight)
With respect to the backlight obtained in each example, the front luminance at points A to C in the vicinity of the
As can be seen from the results of Tables 3 and 5, the backlights of Examples 1 to 4 using the light diffusive sheets of Examples 1 to 4 are the skewness Rsk of the roughness curve in the two-dimensional surface shape measurement of the diffusion layer. Is negative, and the average height Rc of the roughness curve element is 6.0 μm or more, so that the uniformity of light in the entire backlight is high and high diffusivity is exhibited while ensuring the front brightness. It became a thing.
On the other hand, in the backlight of Comparative Example 1 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 1, the skewness Rsk of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet is positive, and the average height Rc of the roughness curve element is Since it was less than 6.0 μm, it was poor in diffusibility as compared with Examples.
Further, in the backlight of Comparative Example 2 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 2, although the skewness Rsk of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet is negative, the average height Rc of the roughness curve element is 6 Since it was less than 0.0 μm, it was poor in diffusibility as compared with Examples.
Further, the backlight of Comparative Example 3 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 3 has an average height Rc of the roughness curve element of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet of 6.0 μm or more. Since Rsk was positive, it was poor in diffusibility compared to the examples.
As can be seen from the results of Tables 4 and 6, the backlights of Examples 1 to 3 using the light diffusing sheets of Examples 1 to 3 have a peak count Pc of 150 or more in the two-dimensional surface shape measurement of the diffusion layer. Since the 10-point average roughness Rzjis was 12.0 μm or more, the uniformity of light in the entire backlight was high and high diffusivity was exhibited while ensuring the front luminance.
In general, when the light diffusive sheet is thinned, the balance between the front luminance and the diffusibility tends to deteriorate, but the backlights of Examples 1 to 3 are compared with the light diffusable sheet of Example 4. As a result, it was confirmed that although the total thickness was less than 70 μm and the light diffusive sheet was thin, the sheet had an excellent balance between front luminance and diffusibility. This is presumably because the backlights of Examples 1 to 3 use the light diffusing sheets of Examples 1 to 3 that satisfy all of the
On the other hand, in the backlight of Comparative Example 2 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 2, the peak count Pc of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet is less than 150, and the ten-point average roughness Rzjis is 12. Since it was less than 0.0 μm, it was poor in diffusibility as compared with Examples.
The backlight of Comparative Example 4 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 4 has a 10-point average roughness Rzjis of 12. although the peak count Pc of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet is 150 or more. Since it was less than 0 μm, it was poor in diffusibility as compared with Examples.
The backlight of Comparative Example 5 using the light diffusing sheet of Comparative Example 5 has a peak count Pc of 10 points average roughness Rzjis of the light diffusing layer of the light diffusing sheet is 12.0 μm or more. Since it was less than 150, it became poor in diffusibility compared with the Example.
