A dye-sensitized solar cell generally includes a working electrode, a counter electrode, a sealing portion that connects the working electrode and the counter electrode, and an electrolyte that is filled in a cell space surrounded by the working electrode, the counter electrode, and the sealing portion. ing. The working electrode has an oxide semiconductor layer, and a photosensitizing dye is adsorbed to the oxide semiconductor layer.
In the dye-sensitized solar cell, it is important to improve the photoelectric conversion characteristics. For this reason, various proposals focusing on, for example, a photosensitizing dye have been made.
For example, in Patent Document 1 below, two types of sensitizing dyes having different absorption peak wavelengths in the absorption spectrum are used as the photosensitizing dye, and the absorption is higher than the molecular weight of the sensitizing dye having the absorption peak wavelength on the long wavelength side. It has been proposed to increase the photoelectric conversion efficiency by reducing the molecular weight of a sensitizing dye having a peak wavelength on the short wavelength side. Patent Document 1 below discloses that a co-adsorbing compound such as a steroid compound may be added in order to prevent the sensitizing dyes from meeting with each other and to provide the sensitizing dye with a certain direction. Yes.
Moreover, in the following Patent Document 2, as a photosensitizing dye, a photosensitizing dye containing a polypyridine complex and an aromatic polycyclic conjugated molecule in which an electron donating group and an electron accepting group are linearly arranged. Patent Document 2 below discloses that a coadsorbent such as chenodeoxycholic acid may be added in order to reduce association between photosensitizing dyes.
However, the dye-sensitized solar cells described in Patent Documents 1 and 2 still have room for improvement in terms of improvement in photoelectric conversion characteristics.

Rate of increase in photoelectric conversion efficiency (%) = 100 × (photoelectric conversion efficiency of each example / photoelectric conversion efficiency of comparative example 3)
From the results shown in Table 1, the dye-sensitized solar cells of Examples 1 to 4 have an increased photoelectric conversion efficiency with respect to the dye-sensitized solar cell of Comparative Example 2 as compared to the dye-sensitized solar cells of Comparative Examples 1 and 2. It turns out that the rate increases.
Further, from the results shown in Table 2, the dye-sensitized solar cells of Examples 5 to 9 have a rate of increase in photoelectric conversion efficiency with respect to the dye-sensitized solar cell of Comparative Example 3 as compared with the dye-sensitized solar cell of Comparative Example 3. It turns out that becomes large.
As mentioned above, according to the dye-sensitized solar cell of this invention, it was confirmed that a photoelectric conversion characteristic can be improved effectively.
