Description
The present invention relates to a power consumption detection circuit of an electronic device. Specifically, the present invention relates to a circuit for detecting power consumption in an electronic device using an insulated power supply circuit.
In general, electronic equipment is connected to AC commercial power supply or DC power supply line for telecommunications in the field of communication equipment. In either case, the power supply circuit is insulated from the viewpoint of safety and external surge resistance. Type power supply circuit is adopted. The isolated power supply circuit has a so-called isolated switching regulator structure, and a primary side circuit to which an input power supply is connected and a secondary side circuit that provides the operating potential of the device body are connected via an isolation transformer. It is separated.
In recent years, an electronic device that consumes a large amount of power has been required to have a power consumption monitoring function in the device body for the purpose of constantly managing power consumption.
Here, since there are a plurality of circuit devices as the device body in the secondary circuit, there are a plurality of power supply voltages. Furthermore, since the power efficiency of the device main body varies depending on the input voltage and the operating condition of the load, it is difficult to accurately determine the power consumption of the entire electronic device from the power of the secondary circuit. Therefore, in order to accurately measure the power consumption of the entire electronic device, a method of observing the input voltage and input current in the primary side circuit is adopted.
However, the arithmetic processing unit (microprocessor) that measures power consumption operates on the secondary side circuit, while the primary side circuit and the secondary side circuit are separated by the insulating transformer as described above. Therefore, even if the input voltage and the input current are observed in the primary side circuit, the information cannot be directly transmitted to the arithmetic processing unit of the secondary side circuit. Therefore, an isolation element such as a photocoupler is used as information transmission means in a state where the withstand voltage is maintained (for example, Patent Document 1).
In Patent Document 1 (Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2010-029010), a current sense resistor and a voltage sense resistor are provided in a primary circuit, and a detection value by both is multiplied by an analog multiplier (multiplier) to indicate power consumption. Generate an analog signal. Then, a pulse signal having a duty ratio corresponding to the obtained power consumption is generated. The light emitting part of the photocoupler is driven by this pulse signal, and the controller of the secondary side circuit calculates the effective power Pa from the signal information generated on the insulated light receiving side.
According to this configuration, the power consumption information obtained in the primary side circuit can be transmitted to the secondary side circuit.
In the configuration of Patent Document 1, power information is obtained by multiplying a current detection value and a voltage detection value, and the power information is transmitted to a secondary circuit by a photocoupler.
However, in this configuration, since a multiplier is used to obtain an analog signal indicating a power value, the circuit scale increases accordingly.
Therefore, for example, it can be considered as follows.
That is, the primary side circuit detects the input voltage and input current, converts the analog information of these two systems into digital signals by the analog / digital converter, and then pulse-transmits these digital signals by the photocoupler to the secondary side. This is transmitted to the arithmetic processing unit of the circuit.
However, if all the parallel signals of, for example, 8 to 16 bits after analog / digital conversion are transmitted by an isolation element such as a photocoupler, the circuit scale becomes very large.
Therefore, a configuration is conceivable in which the number of photocouplers is reduced by performing parallel / serial conversion after the analog / digital converter. For example, in FIG. 5, the voltage information detected by the
The current information detected by the
In this way, voltage information and current information can be given to the
However, in the configuration of FIG. 5, two sets of
Here, in addition to the Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), there is an Inter Integrated Circuit (I2C) format for parallel / serial conversion, and the Inter Integrated Circuit (I2C) format can be wired OR connection. .
Therefore, as shown in FIG. 6, by changing the parallel /
The configuration of FIG. 6 is effective in reducing the number of isolation elements such as photocouplers in transmitting information of two systems of input voltage and input current. However, even if such a configuration is adopted, It is inevitable that two pairs of analog / digital converters and parallel / serial converters are required for the input voltage and the input current. Therefore, the problem that the circuit scale is large still remains.
An object of the present invention is to realize a configuration for transmitting information on an input voltage and an input current detected by a primary side circuit to an arithmetic processing unit on a secondary side circuit insulated from the primary side circuit with a small circuit configuration.

The operation of the present embodiment having such a configuration will be described.
First, an operation for detecting the input voltage and the input current in the
The input voltage of the device is detected by being divided by the voltage detection
FIG. 3 is a waveform diagram in each part for explaining the operation.
The voltage detection signal is input to the
The comparator output is connected to the subsequent transistor Tr1. When the voltage of the voltage detection signal is higher than the triangular wave, the transistor Tr1 is turned on. On the other hand, when the voltage of the voltage detection signal is lower than the triangular wave, the transistor Tr1 is turned off. Then, as can be seen with reference to FIG. 3, if the voltage level of the voltage detection signal is low, the time that the voltage detection signal falls below the triangular wave level is long, and the time that the voltage detection signal exceeds the triangular wave level is short. In this case, the OFF time of the transistor Tr1 becomes long.
Conversely, if the voltage level of the voltage detection signal is high, the time during which the voltage detection signal exceeds the triangular wave level is long, and the time during which the voltage detection signal falls below the triangular wave level is short. In this case, the ON time of the transistor becomes long.
Thus, the ON / OFF state of the transistor becomes an on-duty (time ratio) proportional to the input voltage of the device, and the pulse width modulation is applied to the cathode of the

The level-adjusted current detection signal is input to the anode of the light emitting
Therefore, the

In the above embodiment, the DC power source has been described as an example. However, it is obvious that the same effect can be obtained even in a power source configuration in which an AC commercial power source is rectified and smoothed. In addition, although the example in which the smoothing
