This application is filed on Nov. 30, 2011, US Provisional Application No. 61 / 565,496 entitled “Modified Fluorescent Tombstone Cover and Fitting Connector” and filed Nov. 9, 2012. And claims the priority of US Provisional Application No. 61 / 724,803 entitled "Centering Positioner and Adjustable End Connector for Linear Solid State Light Sources and Lighting Equipment" Is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.
The present invention relates to lighting, and more particularly to lighting equipment including a solid state light source.
A typical fluorescent light bulb socket (commonly referred to in the art as a tombstone socket or simply a tombstone) is conventionally configured to receive one or more pins disposed on the end cap of a fluorescent light. . Such tombstones provide power to the lamp and provide mechanical support for the lamp. Tombstones can be removable parts of larger systems (eg, fluorescent lamp fixtures, display cases, refrigerated cases, etc.) and can be integral to larger systems.
Fixtures / luminaires, including solid state light sources (eg, but not limited to, light emitting diodes (LEDs), organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs), polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs, etc.) and the like, are more frequently It is used in place of fixtures including conventional light sources (eg, incandescent lamps, halogens, low pressure discharges (ie fluorescent lamps), high pressure discharges (ie metal halides, sodium, etc.) etc.) and / or the like. Most of the lamps based on modified light sources designed to replace typical incandescent lamps (eg, A19 lamps with screw bases or GU-24 bases) are designed with the same base so that they are the same Because it fits in the socket, it can be operated from the same power source (AC mains power). Some modified solid-state light sources (either lamps or fixtures) designed to replace fluorescent bulbs do not include the same bi-pin base of fluorescent bulbs, these are of course in tombstone sockets Designed to fit. This is due to the fact that solid state light sources generally cannot operate via ballasts that power fluorescent lamps. Rather, a solid state light source generally requires its own power supply (also called a driver), whether it is a separate unit or integral with a retrofit lamp / fixture. However, the modified solid state light source (in either the lamp or the fixture) must occupy the same space. In the same retrofit application, the solid light source lamp / fixture is fixed in the space previously occupied by the fluorescent bulb, which uses a metal snap bracket that needs to be attached to the fixed object using screws. Or by removing existing tombstone sockets and placing them with specific parts designed for that specific lamp / fixture. This is time consuming and expensive. This cost increases from a time and money standpoint in situations where the tombstone socket is not designed to be removed from the existing installation.
Embodiments of the present invention provide a typical fluorescent tombstone socket that fits into a connector that can be easily attached to a retrofit light source (either in a lamp or fixture). Embodiments provide an easy installation, tool-less and / or almost tool-less method for securing a modified lamp / fixture to a fixed object. Some embodiments include mating connectors that can be employed on a number of different objects for retrofit applications and new structural applications. Other embodiments provide a single piece that covers the tombstone socket and is mechanically attached in addition (eg, via screws) to the existing fixture.

In some embodiments, the
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
The
It should be noted that the
In some embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 3, the
In some embodiments, a portion of the upper 160 / 160A and lower 170 / 170A defining the opening 181 interacts with the plurality of
In some embodiments (see FIG. 5), the first illumination adapter is disposed on one end of the luminaire and the second illumination adapter is disposed on the other end of the luminaire. Both the second lighting adapter and rotational adjustment are possible. In some embodiments, the first lighting adapter allows the luminaire to be rotationally adjustable while the second lighting adapter allows free rotation of the luminaire, whereby the lighting of the first lighting adapter Interaction with the fixture controls the position of the luminaire. The location of the luminaire can be indicated by markings on the luminaire, such as, but not limited to, numbers as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, and in some embodiments, As shown. Such markings identify different locations for the user, which correspond to the direction of light emitted by the luminaire. Thereby, the user can use the marking to determine the desired position of the luminaire without having to supply power to the luminaire. In particular, in applications where the lumen output by the luminaire is quite high (ie in applications where the light emitted by the luminaire is very bright), this provides a significant advantage for the installer and user. In some embodiments, where only one side of the luminaire can rotate, the first proof adapter allows rotation while the second proof adapter secures and supports the other side of the luminaire. . In such embodiments, the marking can be only on the rotatable side of the verification instrument, but in some embodiments, the marking can be on both sides. This allows the luminaire to be attached with either end of the respective lighting adapter.
