Description
The present invention relates to a battery including a power generation element having a positive electrode plate including a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode current collector. More specifically, the current collector of either the positive electrode plate or the negative electrode plate is a power generation element. The present invention relates to a battery that is exposed at an end face and joins the exposed current collector and a current collecting terminal.
Between the positive electrode plate coated with the positive electrode mixture excluding one end of the strip-shaped positive electrode current collector and the negative electrode plate coated with the negative electrode mixture excluding one end of the strip-shaped negative electrode current collector Two power generation elements are provided that are formed by winding so that an uncoated portion of the positive electrode mixture and an uncoated portion of the negative electrode mixture are disposed at both ends in the winding axis direction with a separator interposed therebetween. The secondary battery has an exposed portion of the positive electrode current collector on at least one end surface in the winding axis direction of the power generation element, and an exposed portion of the negative electrode current collector on the other end surface. One in which an electrical terminal is joined and stored in an outer case is widely known.
For example, in
In the current collection structure in which the current collector exposed on the end face of the power generation element is bundled into one as shown in
In
And about the thickness of a current collecting plate, it is preferable that each such covering portion 13 and each accommodating portion 14 are formed by a press molding method. Current collecting plate 10 shown in FIGS. 2 (a) and 2 (b). In this case, if the current collector plate 10 has a thickness of 0.5 mm, it may be press-molded so as to protrude about 0.2 mm ”(paragraph [0067]). 13 and each accommodating part 14 are preferably formed by a press molding method as in the first embodiment and the first to seventh modifications, and in the case of the current collector plate 100 shown in FIG. If the current collector plate 100 has a thickness of 0.8 mm, it may be press-molded so as to protrude 1 mm or more. "(Paragraph [0121])," A 50 mm square aluminum plate having a thickness of 1 mm was pressed. This makes it possible to At the same time, uneven portions having a V-shaped cross section having a height of 1 mm and a central angle θ of 60 ° were formed concentrically at intervals of 2 mm in the radial direction of the aluminum plate. (Paragraph [0163]), “Using a similar method, a copper negative electrode current collector plate having a thickness of 0.6 mm was produced. In this negative electrode current collector plate, the height of the uneven portion having a V-shaped cross section was prepared. Was 1 mm, and its central angle θ was 120 ° ”(paragraph [0165]),“ an aluminum plate having a thickness of 0.5 mm, a width of 8 mm, and a length of 55 mm was pressed. As a result, a convex portion having a V-shaped cross section having a height of 1 mm and a central angle θ of 60 ° was formed so as to extend in the longitudinal direction of the current collector plate. (Paragraph [0174]), “in the same way, the thickness is 0.6. A copper negative electrode current collector plate of m was prepared, and in this negative electrode current collector plate, the height of the convex portion having a V-shaped cross section was 1 mm, and the central angle θ was 120 ° ”(paragraph [ [0175] In any of the embodiments (examples), the current collector plate has a constant thickness.
However, when a current collector plate (current collector terminal) having a uniform thickness as described in
Further, in

Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and has a current collecting structure that can secure a high energy density, and realizes welding that hardly generates holes and is highly reliable, It is an object to provide a battery having high bonding strength with a current collecting terminal.
The battery of the present invention (1) includes a power generation element having a positive electrode plate including a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode current collector, and the positive electrode current collector is provided on at least one end face of the power generation element. Alternatively, in the battery in which any one of the negative electrode current collectors is exposed and the exposed current collector is joined to the current collection terminal, the current collection terminal includes the power generation element. A plurality of convex portions are provided from the inner side to the outer side of the end surface, and the convex portions form a weld piece having an opening at the lower end, and the thickness of the weld piece is equal to that of the convex portion. And being welded to a weld piece of the convex portion.
Here, the configuration in which the positive electrode current collector or the negative electrode current collector is exposed is between the
And in a winding type battery, the inner side in the end surface of an electric power generation element means an inner peripheral part, and an outer side means an outer peripheral part. Further, in a laminated battery, since there is no inner peripheral portion like a wound battery, extending from the inner side to the outer side on the end surface means extending from one outer side to the other outer side including the inner side. .

Alternatively, in the battery in which any one of the negative electrode current collectors is exposed and the exposed current collector is joined to the current collection terminal, the current collection terminal includes the power generation element. A plurality of convex portions are provided from the inner side to the outer side of the end face, and the convex portions form a weld piece having an opening at the lower end, and the angle of the apex of the convex portion on the opening side is The current collector that is 28 ° or less and is exposed at the end face of the power generation element is inserted into the openings of the plurality of convex portions, and is welded to the welding pieces of the convex portions. To do.
Here, the angle on the opening side of the apex of the convex portion is an angle formed by the intersection of two extended lines on the opening side forming the apex of the convex portion. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 6, the shape on the opening side of the
The battery of the present invention (3) includes a power generation element having a positive electrode plate including a positive electrode current collector and a negative electrode plate including a negative electrode current collector, and the positive electrode current collector is provided on at least one end face of the power generation element. Alternatively, in the battery in which any one of the negative electrode current collectors is exposed and the exposed current collector is joined to the current collection terminal, the current collection terminal includes the power generation element. A plurality of convex portions are provided from the inner side to the outer side of the end surface, and the convex portions form a weld piece having an opening portion at a lower end, and the convex portion on the opening side of the weld piece. A bending point exists between the apex and the lower end, and an angle on the lower end side at the bending point is larger than an angle on the apex side at the bending point.
Here, the angle on the lower end side at the bending point is an angle formed by an intersection of two extended lines located on the lower end side from the bending point in the two welding pieces sandwiching the opening. The angle on the apex side is an angle formed by the intersection of two extended lines located on the apex side of the bending point in the two weld pieces sandwiching the opening. In this case, the angle θ on the opening side of the weld piece and the apex 512 side at the
The battery of the present invention (4) is the battery of any one of the present inventions (1) to (3), wherein the current collecting terminal further includes a plate-like portion, and the plate-like portion includes the power generation element. A plurality of convex portions are provided from the inner side to the outer side of the end surface of the first and second end surfaces.
The battery of the present invention (5) is the battery of the present invention (4), and further, the apex of the convex portion is positioned horizontally with the lower surface of the plate-like portion, or closer to the power generating element side than the lower surface of the plate-like portion. It is arranged at a position.
The battery according to the present invention (6) is the battery according to any one of the present inventions (1) to (3), wherein the thickness of the apex of the weld piece is 0.15 mm to 0.4 mm. To do. Moreover, although the thickness of the lower end of the said convex part is formed so that it may become thicker than the thickness of the vertex of the said convex part, it is preferable that it is 0.4 mm-0.8 mm.
The battery according to the present invention (7) is the battery according to any one of the present inventions (1) to (3), wherein the plurality of convex portions provided from the inner side to the outer side of the end face of the power generation element are one. A convex group is formed, and at least two or more convex groups are provided on the current collecting terminal.
According to the battery of the present invention (1), the structure in which the current collector exposed from the inner side to the outer side of the end face of the power generation element is inserted into the plurality of convex portions of the current collecting terminal is inserted. Compared with a structure in which current collectors are bundled together, the exposed part of the current collector can be made smaller, and the occupied part of the current collector that is not involved in charging / discharging of the battery can be made smaller, so that the energy density of the battery can be increased. it can. Further, the thickness of the weld piece is formed such that the thickness on the lower end side of the convex portion is thicker than the thickness on the apex side, thereby preventing the occurrence of holes during welding. Although it is not always clear about the action that can prevent the formation of a hole during welding, the thickness on the lower end side is made thicker than the thickness of the top of the convex part of the weld piece, so that the thickness increases from the top of the convex part of the weld piece to the lower end side. As the penetration space widens, the amount of molten metal in the current collector terminal can be supplied sufficiently, and there is no shortage of molten metal during welding. It is thought that the generation | occurrence | production of the hole which enters into the clearance gap between collectors and the hole which a welding center part produces | generates by surface tension was able to be prevented.
Further, by forming the thickness of the lower end side of the weld piece so as to be thicker than the thickness of the apex side, a battery having a large tensile strength (welding strength) and high reliability and a very low internal resistance can be obtained. .
According to the battery of the present invention (2), similarly to the above, since the occupied portion of the current collector that is not involved in charging / discharging of the battery can be reduced, the energy density of the battery can be increased. In addition, when the angle of the apex of the convex portion on the side of the opening is set to 28 ° or less, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of holes during welding. Although it is not always clear about the action that can prevent the formation of holes during welding, the amount of molten metal in the current collector terminal is reduced with respect to the range irradiated with welding energy by setting the angle on the opening side of the apex to 28 ° or less. Because it is sufficiently supplied, the thickness of the welded part does not become thin, and all the molten metal in the welded part enters the gap between the current collectors and the weld center part is pulled by the surface tension. It is considered that the generation of holes could be prevented.
Furthermore, by setting the angle of the apex of the convex portion on the side of the opening to 28 ° or less, a battery having high tensile strength (welding strength) and high reliability and extremely low internal resistance can be obtained.
According to the battery of the present invention (3), when the angle on the opening side of the apex of the convex portion is reduced, the opening for inserting the current collector can be enlarged, so that there is no hole at the time of welding. In addition to the effect that generation can be prevented, the current collector can be easily inserted into the opening of the convex portion, and workability is improved.
In addition, when there is no bending point, the angle of the tip of the welded piece is almost the same as the inner angle on the opening side, so if the apex angle is too small, the tip of the welded piece will crack during press forming However, by providing a bending point, it is possible to prevent the occurrence of cracks during press molding.
According to the battery of the present invention (4), by providing the current collecting terminal with a plate-like portion, the plate-like portion can be easily pressed against the end face of the power generation element (the exposed portion of the current collector). All the bundled current collectors can be inserted into the opening of the convex portion. Furthermore, by providing the plate-like portion, it is possible to prevent the spatter scattered above the current collecting terminal during welding from adhering to the power generation element, so that the defect rate can be further reduced.
According to the battery of the present invention (5), the end of the current collector is arranged by arranging the apex of the convex portion at a position parallel to the lower surface of the plate-like portion or at a position closer to the power generation element than the lower surface of the plate-like portion. The portion can be inserted to the vicinity of the apex of the convex portion, and the current collector and the welded terminal of the current collecting terminal can be joined with low welding energy for welding the welded piece near the apex.
According to the battery of the present invention (6), in addition to the effect of preventing the generation of holes during welding, the welding energy can be reduced by setting the apex wall thickness to 0.15 mm to 0.4 mm. Even if it is made small, the weld piece and the current collector can be melted, and the calorific value can be reduced. Therefore, even when the exposed portion of the current collector is small, the separator can be prevented from melting, so that a battery with high energy density can be obtained.
According to the battery of the present invention (7), in addition to the effect that it is possible to prevent the formation of holes during welding, etc., it is possible to generate electric power by providing at least two convex portions on the current collecting terminal. Since the junction point between the current collector exposed on one end face of the element and the current collector terminal can be increased, the welding strength can be increased and the resistance between the power generating element and the positive electrode current collector can be reduced. Thus, charging and discharging with a large current can be performed.
Hereinafter, as an embodiment of a battery according to the present invention, for example, a lithium ion secondary battery that can be used as a power source mounted in a vehicle such as an automobile, more specifically, a power generation element and an electrolyte formed by winding are packaged. A lithium ion secondary battery (a wound battery) housed in a case will be described with reference to the drawings.
As shown in FIG. 2, the lithium ion
The

A positive electrode current collecting
A method of joining the positive electrode current collecting
By forming the wall thickness on the
If the tip wall thickness of the apex 512 of the
By making the apex 512 of the
Moreover, it can prevent that a hole generate | occur | produces in the location which irradiated the welding energy of the positive electrode

As shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the positive electrode
As shown in FIG. 6, it is preferable that the apex 512 of the

As shown in FIG. 6, the positive electrode current collecting

When TIG welding is used as a method for melting the

In the positive electrode current collecting

In order to confirm the joining state between the current collecting terminal and the
On the other hand, in Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-4, both the positive electrode
Table 2 shows the result of observation of the current collector plate around the joint with a microscope. In Examples 1-1 to 1-6 in which the thickness of the apex is 0.15 mm to 0.5 mm and the thickness of the lower end is larger than the thickness of the apex, the positive electrode
On the other hand, in Comparative Examples 1-1 to 1-4 where the thickness of the apex and the thickness of the lower end are the same as 0.15 mm, 0.3 mm, 0.4 mm, and 0.5 mm, the positive electrode Holes were generated in both the
In Comparative Example 1-4 and Example 1-6 in which the thickness of the apex was 0.5 mm, the current was insufficient under the welding conditions of 200 A and 25 msec, and the strength did not appear (In Comparative Example 1-4, 4 kgf, which is a low value of 5 kgf in Example 1-6), so the time was increased to 30 milliseconds. Therefore, in Example 1-6, although there was no effect on the battery, melting of the separator began to occur.

(Examples 1-7 and 1-8)

The

In order to confirm the joining state between the current collecting terminal and the

The
Next, the internal resistance of the lithium ion secondary batteries of Comparative Example 2-1, Examples 2-1 to 2-3, and Example 2-6 was measured using a resistance measuring instrument with an alternating current of 1 kHz. Table 5 shows the average value of the internal resistance of each battery. The battery of Comparative Example 2-1 in which the angle on the apex opening side exceeds 28 ° was 8 mΩ, whereas the angle on the apex opening side was 28 ° or less. Examples 2-1 to 2-3 Each of the batteries of Examples 2-6 exhibited a low resistance value of 7.0 mΩ or less. It is considered that the compatible portion between the current collecting terminal and the current collector is increased by setting the angle of the apex opening side to 28 ° or less. The numerical values in parentheses in Table 5 are the widths of variation when 10 AC resistors are manufactured, and show values obtained by dividing the difference between the maximum value and the minimum value by the average value.
