Description
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile machine, a copying apparatus, a plotter, and a multi-function machine thereof, and more particularly to a liquid ejection recording type image forming apparatus using a recording head that ejects ink droplets.
As an image forming apparatus, for example, an ink jet recording apparatus is known as a liquid discharge recording type image forming apparatus using a recording head for discharging ink droplets.
This liquid discharge recording type image forming apparatus means that ink droplets are transported from a recording head (not limited to paper, including OHP, and can be attached to ink droplets and other liquids). Yes, it is also ejected onto a recording medium or a recording medium, recording paper, recording paper, etc.) to form an image (recording, printing, printing, and printing are also used synonymously). It is. Here, a serial type image forming apparatus that forms an image by ejecting droplets while the recording head moves in the main scanning direction, and a line type head that forms images by ejecting droplets without moving the recording head are provided. There is a line type image forming apparatus to be used.
In the present application, “image forming apparatus” means an apparatus that forms an image by discharging liquid onto a medium such as paper, thread, fiber, fabric, leather, metal, plastic, glass, wood, ceramics, etc. "Image formation" is not only the application of images with meanings such as characters and figures to the medium, but also the addition of images with no meaning such as patterns to the medium (simply applying droplets to the medium) Also means landing).
“Ink” is not limited to ink, but is used as a general term for all liquids capable of image formation, such as recording liquid, fixing processing liquid, and liquid. DNA samples, resists, pattern materials and the like are also included.
As the liquid ejection head, a piezoelectric actuator composed of a piezoelectric element or the like is used as pressure generating means (actuator means) for generating pressure to pressurize ink in an individual flow path (hereinafter referred to as “pressurized liquid chamber”). There are known ones that are used, those that use thermal actuators composed of heating resistors, and those that use electrostatic actuators that generate electrostatic force.
In an image forming apparatus using such a liquid discharge head as a recording head (hereinafter, also simply referred to as “inkjet recording apparatus”), a pretreatment liquid that reacts with ink to prevent bleeding can be applied by an application roller. Has been done.
However, when the pretreatment liquid is spouted with an application roller or a liquid discharge head, there is a problem in the quick drying after reacting with ink on the paper due to the liquid, and the paper is wrinkled or curled. Since it becomes easy to bend, a paper jam or the like occurs.
Therefore, a decurler is used to suppress curling. In a general decurler, when a sheet passes between a pair of rollers, the sheet is corrected in a direction opposite to the curl direction, and is curled and decurled by an appropriate amount.
However, when decurling with a general decurler, the decurler must be in direct contact with the printing surface. When the decurler contacts the printing surface, the undried ink is transferred to the decurler. In this case, when the transferred ink is retransferred to the next paper, an image defect occurs on the next paper. Therefore, a decurler that suppresses curling without directly contacting the printing surface is required.
Therefore, in Patent Document 1, a guide member having a curved portion protruding a predetermined amount is provided on the sheet conveyance path between the fixing conveyance roller pair and the conveyance roller pair on the downstream side of the fixing device, and then the fixing conveyance roller pair The sheet sandwiched between the pair of conveyance rollers is pressed against the curved portion of the conveyance guide, and the paper is bent in the reverse curl direction for decurling.
In
Further, in Patent Document 4, among at least three roller pairs arranged in the sheet width direction, the sheet conveying speed of the roller pair at both ends of the sheet is made larger than the sheet conveying speed of the roller pair at the center of the sheet. Disclosed is a paper discharge device capable of satisfactorily discharging a sheet while preventing the deformation of the sheet by seating the sheet with such a difference in conveying speed.
However, in the case of
Further, as in
Furthermore, when the sheet is seated by increasing the sheet conveyance speed at both ends of the sheet from the center of the sheet as in the cited document 4 to prevent deformation of the sheet, the conveyance path is substantially straight. However, cardboard and the like cannot be sufficiently curved and cannot be curled.
By the way, in an image forming apparatus that conveys various recording papers, it is generally desirable that the conveyance path be formed in a straight line. With this configuration, it is possible to convey thick paper such as envelopes. However, when a liquid is applied to the recording medium, curling occurs in thin paper or the like, and there is a problem that decurling cannot be performed by bending the paper in a linear conveyance path.
The present invention has been made in view of the above background, and it is desirable that the conveyance path is basically formed in a straight line due to the difference in characteristics such as the thickness of the paper. An object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of decurling by bending a sheet.
The present invention has the following configuration in order to achieve the above object.

The recording medium may further include a blowing unit for blowing air to the recording medium so as to displace the recording medium passing through the path in the direction of the support roller.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to the first aspect, the first roller pair and the second roller pair have means for changing a speed difference, and the support roller is moved backward when the support roller is moved backward. Control is performed to make the speed of the first roller pair faster than the speed of the second roller pair.
A third invention is an image forming apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the support roller is supported by an elastic member, characterized by retracted together with the recording medium by air pressure of the blowing means.
According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to any one of the first to third aspects, the applying unit that applies the liquid is a liquid discharge head that forms an image by discharging the liquid. To do.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to any one of the first to third aspects, the image recording preprocessing in which the applying unit for applying the liquid applies a treatment liquid and fixes the image on the recording medium. Alternatively, it is a means for performing post-image recording processing.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to any one of the first to fifth aspects, the supporting roller retraction amount is controlled in accordance with the amount of liquid adhering to the recording medium.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, in the image forming apparatus according to any one of the first to fifth aspects, the support roller retraction amount is controlled in accordance with the type and thickness of the recording medium.

(請求項1) According to the present invention, when the decal is necessary, the supporting roller between the pair of rollers is provided so as to be retractable with respect to the recording medium , and the blowing unit blows air so as to displace the recording medium in the supporting roller direction. Thus , decaling can be performed by bending the paper in the direction of the supporting roller. When supporting thick paper or the like by passing, the air blowing means does not blow, the support roller supports the recording medium, and the transport path is maintained straight, so that the transport performance of the thick paper is not impaired. Furthermore, since the drying of the liquid is accelerated by blowing the wind, the progress of curling can be suppressed. (Claim 1)
Further, according to the present invention, the sheet is easily bent due to the speed difference, and the recording medium can be displaced with a small load. (Claim 2).
(請求項3) Further, according to the present invention, a mechanism for retraction is not required, and the apparatus can be reduced in size and simplified. (Claim 3 )
4) Further, according to the present invention, it is possible to quickly dry immediately after image formation, and curl can be suppressed. (Claim 4 )
(請求項5) Further, according to the present invention, the pretreatment and the posttreatment are applied before or after image recording using a roller or the like, so that the amount of liquid to be applied is increased and curling is likely to occur. By rapidly drying and decuring later, it is possible to suppress a decrease in transportability of the recording medium. (Claim 5 )

Hereinafter, an example of an image forming apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to a schematic configuration diagram illustrating an overall configuration of FIG.
The image forming apparatus M is a printer having a line type image forming unit. The image forming apparatus M accommodates a

The processing

Here, as shown in FIGS. 3A and 3B, the

Next, an outline of the control means 500 of the image forming apparatus M will be described with reference to a block explanatory diagram shown in FIG.
The
As shown in FIG. 4, the main control unit 501 supplies print data to the
Here, the
Next, the operation of the image forming apparatus M in the first embodiment will be described along the print control processing routine of FIG.
First, in the conveyance (supply) of the
During this paper supply, the

Next, at a predetermined timing when the

Here, when it is determined that the
On the other hand, the control means 500 determines whether decurling is necessary from the ink adhesion amount data and the data of the paper

Then, the supporting

That is, the rotation speed N1 of the intermediate
Thereafter, when the paper discharge sensor 340 detects the trailing edge of the
As described above, according to the present embodiment, decurling can be performed by bending the

Further, by blowing the air from the
Further, according to the above-described embodiment, since the processing liquid is applied using the

Further, since the air volume control is performed so as to match the control of the support roller retraction amount, the decurling amount can be accurately controlled, and curling due to excessive curling can be prevented.
