この態様によれば、本発明に係る電気光学パネルは、例えば表示領域に入射した光を画素単位で変調した後、Al(アルミニウム)膜等の反射膜によって反射することにより画像を表示する反射型の電気光学パネルである。

まず、本実施形態に係る電気光学装置が備える反射型の液晶パネル100について、図1から図3を参照して説明する。液晶パネル100は、本発明に係る「電気光学パネル」の一例である。尚、以下の実施形態では、駆動回路内蔵型のTFT(Thin Film Transistor)アクティブマトリクス駆動方式の反射型液晶パネルを例にとる。
なお、本実施形態に係るグリス520、530は、液晶パネル100及びヒートシンク320間並びにフレーム310及びヒートシンク320間を充填するように塗布したが、それぞれ一部にのみグリス520、530を塗布してもよいし、液晶パネル100及びヒートシンク320間並びにフレーム310及びヒートシンク320間にはグリス520、530を塗布しなくてもよい。また、グリス520及びグリス530は、それぞれ熱伝導性を有する部材であればよく、例えば、グリスに代えて又は加えて熱伝導性を有するシートや接着剤等を用いることができる。
次に、上述した電気光学装置である液晶装置を各種の電子機器に適用する場合について説明する。ここでは、本発明に係る電子機器として、投射型液晶プロジェクターを例にとる。図9は、本実施形態に係る投射型液晶プロジェクターの図式的断面図である。
Claims (5)
- 素子基板及び対向基板間に電気光学物質を挟持してなる反射型の電気光学パネルと、
前記対向基板の前記素子基板との対向面とは反対側の面に透明接着剤により貼り合わされ、該対向基板とは平面的な大きさが異なる基板と、
前記基板の前記対向基板との貼り合わせ面とは反対側に該基板と接するように設けられた遮光板と、
前記電気光学パネルを保持するフレームと、を備え、
前記対向基板は正極の線膨張係数を有する材料から構成されており、
前記基板は、負極の線膨脹係数を有する材料から構成されており、
前記遮光板は、正極の線膨脹係数を有する材料から構成されており、
前記フレームは、前記対向基板の前記基板側から前記対向基板を保持する段部を備え、
前記対向基板と前記フレームは、前記段部を含めて前記対向基板の表面から側面まで設けられる接着剤により接着され、
前記対向基板と前記基板の熱による応力は相殺により軽減され、前記基板と前記遮光板の熱による応力は相殺により軽減される、
電気光学装置。 - 前記素子基板の前記対向基板との対向側とは反対側に放熱部を備え、
前記放熱部と前記フレームは互いに接合されている請求項1に記載の電気光学装置。 - 前記素子基板は、前記対向基板と同じ極性の線膨脹係数を有する材料からなることを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の電気光学装置。
- 前記素子基板は石英から構成され、前記基板はネオセラム(登録商標)から構成されてなることを特徴とする請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置。
- 請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の電気光学装置を具備する電子機器。
