Description
The present invention relates to an automatic frequency control circuit used for a radio receiver and the like , and a radio communication apparatus employing this device.
Automatic frequency control (hereinafter referred to as “AFC”) is a technique for stabilizing the reception frequency, and detects a deviation between the reception frequency and the transmission frequency and automatically adjusts the reception frequency to the transmission frequency. In AFC, a signal output from a mixer is usually converted into frequency information by a frequency detection circuit, and the frequency of the local oscillator is controlled by an output obtained by smoothing the frequency information signal.
By the way, the signal strength of the radio frequency signal may be significantly reduced due to the distance from the communication partner during communication or the influence of an obstacle or multipath fading. When the signal strength of the received radio frequency signal decreases, a noise component appears in the frequency information output from the frequency detection circuit and fluctuates. For this reason, the frequency information serving as the reference for AFC fluctuates, which fluctuates the frequency of the local transmitter, thereby hindering normal reception operation.
In order to prevent such a situation from occurring, when the strength of the received signal decreases and the AFC operation becomes unstable, it is necessary to stop the AFC operation until the strength of the received signal is restored.
As a method for stopping the AFC operation,
As disclosed in

Hereinafter, an AFC apparatus according to each embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
(Embodiment 1)
As a first embodiment, a case where the AFC device according to the present invention is applied to a superheterodyne receiver (wireless communication device) will be described. FIG. 1 shows a configuration of a receiver including an AFC device according to the present embodiment. The

When the modulation method of the radio frequency signal Sr is AM, the LPF 4 may not be provided. When the modulation method of the radio frequency signal Sr is FM or FSK, the frequency information signal Sx is obtained through the LPF 4 having a sufficiently low cutoff frequency in order to remove the modulation component of the reception signal from the frequency detection signal Sd. Even if the modulation method of the radio frequency signal Sr is FM or FSK, the LPF 4 is not necessary if a frequency detection circuit is used in which the modulation component of the received signal does not appear in the frequency detection signal Sd.

局部発振器6は、例えばPLL(Phase Lock loop)回路で構成される。
The
When the received signal is normal, the frequency detection signal Sd and the frequency information signal Sx obtained by removing the modulation component from the frequency detection signal Sd maintain a substantially constant value. However, in the case of preventing normal reception, the frequency detection signal Sd and the frequency information signal Sx will fluctuate. The frequency
When receiving the stop signal Ss from the frequency
Next, the operation of the

Next, the configuration and operation of the frequency
The signal strength of the radio frequency signal Sr may be significantly reduced due to the distance from the communication partner during communication or the influence of an obstacle or multipath fading. When the signal strength of the received radio frequency signal Sr decreases, the noise component is included in the output of the

In the present invention, the fluctuation amount of the frequency information signal Sx obtained by removing the modulation component of the radio frequency signal Sr from the frequency detection signal Sd that is the output signal of the
Next, the configuration and operation of the frequency
Of the components of the frequency

The signal Sp2 is input to the smoothing
The signal Sp3 is input to the
When the stop signal Ss is transmitted to the
The
AFC device of the present invention as described above, in other words to determine the amount of fluctuation of the output signal of the
Further, the frequency

The comparator 78 realizes the same function as that of the
As described above, in this embodiment, the function of the frequency

Further, the frequency
