Description
The present invention relates to a surface light source device. Specifically, the present invention relates to a surface light source device used for display by being incorporated in a mobile device such as a smartphone or a tablet computer.
In smartphones, tablet computers, electronic book reader devices, etc., icons glow at the switch location, and the icon indicates the position and type of the switch. For example, in the
FIG. 1B shows a display surface
When the
However, in the
When the light emitted from the
In addition, among the light incident on the
As described above, since the light Lb having the directivity Cb is added to the light La having the directivity Ca, when the intensity of the light totally reflected by the
Next, as in the surface
The present invention has been made in view of the technical problems as described above, and an object of the present invention is to provide a surface light source capable of widening the directivity angle without reducing the brightness of display of icons and the like. To provide an apparatus.
The surface light source device according to the present invention is a surface light source device including a light source and a light guide plate that emits light introduced from the light source from a display region of the light output surface, the light source surface of the light guide plate or A plurality of first deflection patterns having a deflection inclined surface and a plurality of second deflection patterns having a deflection inclined surface are formed in the display area on at least one of the opposite surfaces, When viewed from a direction perpendicular to the light exit surface of the light guide plate, the first deflection pattern is an angle formed by a normal line standing on the deflection inclined surface and a direction connecting the light source and the first deflection pattern. When the second deflection pattern is viewed from a direction perpendicular to the light exit surface of the light guide plate, the normal line set up on the tilted inclined surface of the second deflection pattern One orthogonal to the direction connecting the second deflection pattern The angle formed by the light guide plate is 25 ° or less, and when viewed from a direction perpendicular to the light output surface of the light guide plate, a part of the light emitted from the light source is reflected on the side surface side of the light guide plate. The second deflection pattern is reached.
In the surface light source device of the present invention, the first deflection pattern is arranged substantially perpendicular to the direction of light traveling straight from the light source, and the second deflection pattern is the direction of light traveling straight from the light source. Are arranged almost in parallel. The light is allowed to reach the display unit not only from the light source side but also from the side surface side. Therefore, the directivity characteristics of light that is reflected or transmitted by the first deflection pattern and emitted from the light emission surface, and the directivity characteristics of light that is reflected or transmitted by the second deflection pattern and emitted from the light emission surface are: When viewed from the direction perpendicular to the light exit surface, the angle differs by approximately 90 °. Therefore, the overall directivity spreads in two directions. For this reason, even if the viewing direction changes or the device incorporating the surface light source device is tilted, the display is not easily darkened or flickered. In addition, light that is guided to the side of the light guide plate and is not incident on the display unit is guided to the display unit and used to improve directivity. There is no risk of lowering the brightness. Therefore, in the present invention, it is possible to improve the display quality of icons and the like by increasing the light utilization efficiency.

(First embodiment)
A surface
One deflection pattern, that is, the
FIG. 9 schematically illustrates a case where the
A light beam La shown in FIG. 8A represents light that reaches the
A light beam Lb shown in FIG. 8A represents light that reaches the
Since the
In addition, the side surface of the
(Second Embodiment)
FIG. 12 is a schematic plan view of a surface
According to such an embodiment, the light Lb totally reflected by the
In the surface
(Third embodiment)
FIG. 14A is a schematic plan view of a surface
Also in this embodiment, similarly to the second embodiment, the light Lb directed to the side surface of the
(Fourth embodiment)
FIG. 16 is a diagram illustrating a surface light source device according to Embodiment 4 of the present invention. As shown in this embodiment, the
However, the
FIG. 17 shows the reason why the inclination angle θ of the second deflection pattern 32B is desirably 25 ° or less. FIG. 17 shows the result of measuring the relationship between the inclination angle θ of the
On the other hand, with respect to the
