Description

The present invention relates to a portable electronic device, and more particularly to a portable electronic device equipped with a battery pack.

2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, mobile electronic devices typified by mobile phones have become highly functional and multifunctional. For this reason, in the portable electronic device, the battery capacity of the battery pack tends to be consumed in a short time, and the period until the battery pack is recharged after being charged is shortened.

The battery pack is equipped with a battery cell. Regarding battery cells, for example, it is known that the battery capacity gradually deteriorates each time charging / discharging is repeated, and that the exterior body swells by generating gas inside.

A user of a portable electronic device may continue to use the portable electronic device without noticing the capacity deterioration of the battery pack. In this case, even if the user uses the portable electronic device as usual, recharging is required in a short time.

Patent Documents 1 to 3 describe techniques for detecting abnormality of a battery pack. Patent Document 1 describes a battery-equipped device provided with expansion detection means on the side surface of the battery outer package. The expansion detection means outputs an expansion detection signal when the battery expands beyond a predetermined size. In this battery-equipped device, abnormality of the battery is detected based on the expansion detection signal.

Patent Document 2 describes a battery pack that includes a swelling detection unit and an abnormality detection unit. The swollenness detection unit is disposed between the secondary battery housed in the casing and the inner wall of the casing, and detects the pressure applied by the inner wall of the casing and the secondary battery. The abnormality detection unit detects an abnormality of the secondary battery when the pressure detected by the swelling detection unit exceeds a predetermined value.

Patent Document 3 describes a storage battery life detection device including detection means and notification means. The detection means is arranged outside the storage battery and detects expansion of the storage battery. An alerting | reporting means alert | reports that a storage battery is a lifetime, when the detection value of a detection means exceeds predetermined value.

Patent Document 1 describes that when a battery abnormality is detected based on an expansion detection signal, the display unit displays that the battery is abnormal. However, Patent Document 1 merely displays a battery abnormality during charging / discharging, and does not consider notifying the user of the degree of capacity deterioration of the battery pack that drives the battery-equipped device.

特許文献2では、膨れ検出部として、いわゆるPTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient)素子を採用している。 In Patent Document 2, a so-called PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) element is employed as the swelling detection unit. The PTC element has a configuration in which a conductive filler is dispersed and held between two electrodes. For this reason, the pressure detected by the swell detector corresponds to the resistance value between the two electrodes that fluctuates depending on the temperature, and includes an error depending on the temperature. In order to reduce this error, the abnormality detection unit needs to set a threshold value that varies depending on the temperature. Further, although Patent Document 2 describes setting the first and second threshold values, there is no description that notification according to the first and second threshold values is performed.

Patent Document 3 is a technique for detecting the life of a storage battery, and a sealed lead storage battery is assumed as the storage battery. That is, the technique described in Patent Document 3 is not intended for portable electronic devices that are driven by a battery pack in which lithium ion battery cells are mounted. Moreover, when notifying the lifetime of a storage battery, notifying a user of the extent of capacity degradation is not considered.

An object of this invention is to provide the portable electronic device which can alert | report to a user the extent of capacity | capacitance degradation of a battery pack.

In the portable electronic device of the present invention, the user can be notified of the degree of battery pack capacity deterioration.

1 is a block diagram showing an outline of a portable electronic device of the present invention. (A) And (b) is a figure which shows a part of structure of the portable electronic device which concerns on embodiment of this invention. (a)及び(b)は、携帯電子機器のA−A断面を示す図。(A) And (b) is a figure which shows the AA cross section of a portable electronic device. The block diagram which shows the function of a portable electronic device.

FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing an outline of a portable electronic device of the present invention. The portable electronic device 1 of the present invention includes, as a minimum configuration, a battery pack on which battery cells are mounted, a housing that houses the battery pack, a pressure sensor 2, a comparison unit 3, and an alarm generation unit 4. The pressure sensor 2 is disposed at a position sandwiched between the outer box of the battery pack and the inner wall of the housing. The comparison unit 3 compares the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 2 with a plurality of threshold values. The alarm generation unit 4 generates a plurality of types of alarms based on the comparison result with the plurality of threshold values by the comparison unit 3.

Here, as for the battery cell mounted in the battery pack, it is known that an exterior body will swell gradually with capacity degradation. For this reason, a battery pack will also swell according to the swelling of a battery cell. Since the pressure sensor 2 is disposed between the outer box of the battery pack and the inner wall of the housing, the pressure sensor 2 receives a pressure corresponding to the swelling of the battery cell from the outer box of the battery pack. In the portable electronic device 1, a plurality of threshold values to be compared with the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 2 are set, and a plurality of types of alarms are generated based on the comparison result. Therefore, when a plurality of threshold values are respectively associated with a plurality of deterioration levels of the battery pack, a plurality of types of alarms are generated based on the comparison result, thereby determining the degree (degree) of capacity deterioration of the battery pack. Users can be notified.

Hereinafter, exemplary embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. 2A and 2B are a plan view and a perspective view showing a part of the configuration of the portable electronic device according to the embodiment of the present invention. The mobile electronic device 10 is, for example, a foldable mobile phone, and includes an upper housing 11, a hinge portion 12, and a lower housing 13. In the portable electronic device 10, the upper housing 11 and the lower housing 13 are coupled to each other by the hinge portion 12 so as to be rotatable with each other, and can be shifted between the folded state and the unfolded state shown in FIG. 2.

The portable electronic device 10 is driven by a battery pack on which lithium ion battery cells (hereinafter referred to as battery cells) are mounted. A space (battery housing portion) 13 a for housing the battery pack is formed on the back surface of the lower housing 13. A battery terminal portion 14 and a pressure sensor 15 are arranged on the inner wall of the battery housing portion 13a. The battery terminal part 14 is a terminal electrically connected to the battery pack accommodated in the battery accommodating part 13a. The pressure sensor 15 is composed of a piezoelectric element, and can measure an arbitrary pressure.

With reference to FIG. 3, the state which accommodated the battery pack in the battery accommodating part 13a is demonstrated. FIG. 3 is a view showing a cross section taken along line AA shown in FIG. The battery pack 17 is accommodated in the battery accommodating portion 13a as shown in FIG. The battery accommodating portion 13a has a lid member 16 attached to the opening, and holds the accommodated battery pack 17.

The pressure sensor 15 is mounted on a substrate 18 mounted inside the lower housing 13 and is disposed at a position sandwiched between an outer box (exterior body) 17a of the battery pack 17 and an inner wall of the battery housing portion 13a. . Here, when the battery pack 17 is repeatedly charged and discharged, it is known that the exterior body swells due to the bending of the electrode body inside the battery cell. In other words, when the battery pack 17 is repeatedly charged and discharged by the use of the user, the capacity deterioration progresses, and the outer dimensions of the battery pack 17 gradually increase according to the degree of the capacity deterioration (deterioration level). FIG. 3B shows a state where the battery pack 17 is swollen due to capacity deterioration. As shown in FIG. 3B, the pressure sensor 15 is in contact with the swollen portion 17b of the outer box 17a of the battery pack 17, and detects or measures the pressure received from the swollen portion 17b.

Next, the operation of the portable electronic device 10 will be described with reference to the functional blocks shown in FIG. As shown in the figure, the portable electronic device 10 includes the pressure sensor 15, a control IC unit 19, and an alarm generation unit 20.

When the pressure sensor 15 detects the pressure received from the swollen portion 17 b of the outer case 17 a of the battery pack 17, it passes the detected pressure information to the control IC unit 19. The control IC unit 19 compares the pressure information delivered from the pressure sensor 15 with a plurality of threshold values, and controls the alarm generation unit 20 based on the comparison result. The plurality of threshold values are set so as to correspond to the plurality of deterioration levels of the battery pack 17, respectively.

The alarm generation unit 20 includes, for example, a display unit 21, a speaker unit 22, and a vibrator motor unit 23. The alarm generation unit 20 is controlled by the control IC unit 19 and generates a plurality of types of alarms based on the comparison result.

Examples of the type of alarm include an alarm for notifying the capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17 and an alarm for prompting replacement of the battery pack 17. In the following, an alarm when three threshold values (first to third threshold values) are set will be exemplified. Note that the magnitude of the threshold is first threshold <second threshold <third threshold.

As an example, when the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 15 exceeds the first threshold, a message “Battery pack is degraded” is displayed on the display unit 21. Further, when the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 15 exceeds the second threshold value, a message “Battery pack has deteriorated. Please consider replacement.” Is displayed on the display unit 21. Further, when the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 15 exceeds the third threshold value, a message “Battery pack has reached the end of life. Please replace it” is displayed on the display unit 21.

Thus, by displaying the above messages on the display unit 21, the degree of capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17, that is, the battery life is approaching, or the battery is at the end of life and needs to be replaced. Can be grasped by the user. In addition, by setting a plurality of threshold values, it is possible to notify the user of the capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17 in a stepwise manner.

Further, at the same time as displaying a message on the display unit 21, a melody sound or the like may be generated from the speaker unit 22, or vibration may be generated by the vibrator motor unit 23. In this case, sound and vibration may be increased as the degree of capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17 progresses. Thus, by using not only the display unit 21 but also the speaker unit 22 and the vibrator motor unit 23, it is possible to make the user more surely understand the degree of capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17.

In the present embodiment, a plurality of threshold values corresponding to a plurality of deterioration levels of the battery pack 17 are set, and a plurality of types of alarms are issued based on a comparison result comparing these threshold values with the pressure detected by the pressure sensor 15. generate. Therefore, the deterioration level of the battery pack 17 can be notified to the user.

In the said embodiment, although the alarm which alert | reports the capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17 and the alarm which urges | exchanges the battery pack 17 were illustrated as an alarm, it is not limited to this. As an example, when the capacity deterioration of the battery pack 17 is excessively advanced, an alarm that prompts the user to stop using the mobile electronic device 10 may be generated.

Moreover, in the said embodiment, although three threshold values were set, it is not limited to this, Furthermore, after setting a plurality of threshold values and classifying the deterioration level of the battery pack 17 more finely, an alarm corresponding to the deterioration level is issued. It may be generated.

Furthermore, in the above-described embodiment, a foldable mobile phone is shown as the mobile electronic device 10. However, the mobile electronic device 10 is not limited to this, and may be a so-called integrated or slide-type mobile phone and accommodates the battery pack 17. An appropriate portable electronic device including a housing may be used.

Although the present invention has been described based on the preferred embodiment, the portable electronic device of the present invention is not limited to the configuration of the above embodiment, and various modifications and changes can be made from the configuration of the above embodiment.
