Description
The present invention relates to a horizontally-striped solid oxide fuel cell stack (hereinafter simply referred to as a cell stack), a horizontally-striped solid oxide fuel cell bundle (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as a bundle), and a fuel cell. About.
In recent years, fuel cells have attracted attention as a power generation method having high power generation efficiency in which the number of energy conversion stages is reduced and chemical energy is directly converted into electric energy. In particular, a solid oxide fuel cell has a high power generation temperature of 600 ° C. to 1000 ° C. and a low internal resistance in the fuel cell, so that it has the highest power generation efficiency among the fuel cells, and further uses residual fuel for gas. It can be used as a heat source for further power generation by a turbine or cogeneration, and has the property of converting chemical energy into electrical energy with high conversion efficiency. In particular, a horizontal stripe solid oxide fuel cell can obtain a high voltage with a small number of cell stacks.
The conventional cell stack includes a gas flow path for flowing fuel gas along the longitudinal direction, and has a fuel gas inlet for the gas flow path at one end and the gas flow path at the other end. A fuel cell having a multilayer structure in which a fuel electrode layer, a solid electrolyte layer, and an air electrode layer are sequentially laminated on an electrically insulating porous support having a fuel gas discharge port is provided in the longitudinal direction of the porous support. A plurality of adjacent fuel cells are electrically connected via an interconnector.
In such a cell stack, high power can be obtained by electrically connecting fuel cells located on the front and back surfaces of the cell stack in series. To electrically connect the fuel cells located on the front and back surfaces of the cell stack in series, electrically connect the fuel cells on the most end side or the fuel cells on the other end on the front and back surfaces of the cell stack. There is a need to.
However, in the cell stack, by repeating power generation, a part of the metal moves to the surface or inside of the outer surface (solid electrolyte layer) of the cell stack (hereinafter sometimes referred to as migration), and the solid electrolyte. However, there is a problem in durability and reliability, such as short circuit of current due to poor insulation, and a part of the metal being diffused to deteriorate electrical continuity.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a highly reliable cell stack, bundle, and fuel cell that can suppress migration and deterioration of electrical conduction during power generation.
As a result of intensive studies to solve the above-mentioned problems, the present inventors have found that the fuel is located on the most end side or the other end side of the surface of the porous support (hereinafter sometimes referred to simply as the “surface side”). In the structure of the inner electrode layer and the interconnector in the battery cell, the inner electrode layer has a T-shape having a folded portion that is folded from the front surface side to the back surface side of the porous support (hereinafter sometimes referred to simply as the back surface side). The interconnector is laminated on the upper surface of the folded portion that is folded back on the back surface side, respectively, and the interconnector and the fuel cell that is located on the most end side or the other end side on the back surface side are stacked. Highly reliable cell stack that can suppress migration and degradation of electrical continuity during power generation by using a structure in which the outer electrode layer is electrically connected It found that it is possible to provide, and have completed the present invention.

Next, the current collecting

Since the current collecting
The folded portions of the current collecting
In a cell stack having a structure in which the left and right folded portions overlap each other, a crack may occur in the overlapping portion of the current collecting

Further, since the fuel gas discharged from the fuel gas discharge port and the oxygen-containing gas are mixed and combusted on the other end side of the cell stack 1a, the influence of the combustion heat is suppressed and the outside of the cell stack 1a is suppressed.

The distance a is determined in the longitudinal direction of the
The distance x is a length in the longitudinal direction of the
The length B (see FIGS. 5A and 5B) of the current collecting
(A)=(S)−(a+b)―n(B+x)
The length (A) (see FIGS. 3 and 5A) of the current collecting
(A) = (S)-(a + b) -n (B + x)
From the above formula, the length (A) is determined in a substantially constant range depending on the length (S) in the longitudinal direction of the porous support, and the length of the current collecting

The relationship between the length (D) of the folded portion and the interval {A− (D + B)} (hereinafter sometimes referred to as C) preferably has a relationship of C ≦ (1/2) B.
As described above, the length (A) is substantially constant depending on the length (S) in the longitudinal direction of the
Therefore, when C> (1/2) B, it is necessary to shorten the length (D) of the folded portion. When a cell stack having such a relationship is manufactured, the obtained cell stack is warped. There is a possibility that deformation may occur, or the volume of the

The
The

The

For example, it is composed of ZrO 2 (stabilized zirconia) in which a rare earth element is dissolved, and Ni and / or NiO (hereinafter referred to as Ni or the like). As the stabilized zirconia in which the rare earth element is dissolved, the same one used for the solid electrolyte layers 10b and 13b described later is preferably used.
The stabilized zirconia content in the active fuel electrode layers 10a and 13a is preferably in the range of 35 to 65% by volume, and the content of Ni or the like is 65 to 35 in terms of NiO in order to exhibit good power generation performance. It may be in the range of volume%.
Further, the open porosity of the active fuel electrode layers 10a and 13a is preferably 15% or more, particularly preferably in the range of 20 to 40%.

Ni or Ni oxide (NiO is usually reduced by hydrogen gas and present as Ni during power generation) is contained in the rare earth element oxide in a range of 30 to 60% by volume in terms of NiO. Good. The current collecting fuel electrode layers 10d and 13d are required to be conductive so as not to impair the flow of current, and it is generally desirable that they have a conductivity of 400 S / cm or more. From the viewpoint of having good electrical conductivity, the content of Ni or the like is desirably 30% by volume or more.
The thickness of the current collecting fuel electrode layers 10d and 13d is preferably 80 to 200 μm from the viewpoint of improving electric conductivity.

また、固体電解質層10b、13bとして、8モル%のYが固溶している安定化ZrO2(8mol% Yttoria Stabilized Zirconia、以下、「8YSZ」という。)

Such solid electrolyte layers 10b and 13b have a function as an electrolyte for bridging electrons between the electrodes, and at the same time have a gas barrier property to prevent leakage of fuel gas or oxygen-containing gas (gas permeation). doing.

The air electrode layers 10c and 13c are made of conductive ceramics. Examples of the conductive ceramics include ABO 3 type perovskite type oxides. Examples of such perovskite type oxides include transition metal type perovskite type oxides, preferably LaMnO 3 type oxides, LaFeO. 3 based oxide, such as LaCoO 3 -based oxide, in particular can be mentioned transition metal type perovskite oxide having La at the a site. More preferably, from the viewpoint of high electrical conductivity at a relatively low temperature of about 600 to 1000 ° C., a LaCoO 3 oxide is used.
In the perovskite oxide described above, La and Sr may coexist at the A site, and Fe, Co, and Mn may coexist at the B site.
Such air electrode layers 10c and 13c can cause the electrode reaction of the above-described formula (i).
The open porosity of the air electrode layers 10c and 13c is set to, for example, 20% or more, preferably 30 to 50%. If the open porosity is in the above-described range, the air electrode layers 10c and 13c can have good gas permeability.
The thickness of the air electrode layers 10c and 13c is set in the range of 30 to 100 μm, for example. If it exists in an above-described range, the air electrode layers 10c and 13c can have favorable electric power generation performance.

Further, the inner electrode layer in each
Furthermore, from the viewpoint of efficient power generation, the

As a result, it is possible to avoid the possibility that gas leaks occur or the volume of the interconnector 32a decreases, the current density of the current flowing into the

Further, since the fuel gas discharged from the fuel gas discharge port and the oxygen-containing gas are mixed and burned on the other end side of the cell stack 1c, the influence of the combustion heat is suppressed, and the outside of the cell stack 1c is reduced.

Next, a method for manufacturing the horizontal stripe type cell stack 1a will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 8 is a longitudinal sectional view showing a porous support body molded
First, as shown in FIG. 8, a porous support body molded
Next, each molded body of the inner electrode layers (current collecting fuel electrode layers 10d and 13d, active fuel electrode layers 10a and 13a),
First, for example, NiO powder, Ni powder, and YSZ powder are mixed, a pore agent is added thereto, and an acrylic binder and toluene are mixed to prepare a paste for the active fuel electrode layer molded

The slurry is applied and dried at a current collecting fuel electrode layer having a predetermined dimension and a thickness of 80 to 200 μm, which is a base of the current collecting fuel

Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 9 (c), a porous support in which the active fuel electrode layer molded
Next, the porous support body molded
