Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a (meth) acrylate having two or more (meth) acryloyl groups [hereinafter referred to as polyfunctional (meth) acrylate], and belongs to the technical field of a method for producing (meth) acrylate.
In the present specification, an acryloyl group and / or a methacryloyl group are represented as a (meth) acryloyl group, an acrylate and / or methacrylate as a (meth) acrylate, and acrylic acid and / or methacrylic acid as (meth) acrylic acid. .
Polyfunctional (meth) acrylates are cured by irradiation with active energy rays or by heating, and by combining with other (meth) acrylates, a wide range of physical properties of cured products can be obtained, so paints, inks, adhesives, filling It is used in large quantities as a crosslinking component in formulations such as agents and molding materials or as a reactive diluent component.
In particular, polyfunctional (meth) acrylates having 3 or more (meth) acryloyl groups are used in large quantities as a compounding component in hard coat paints because their cured products exhibit high hardness and excellent wear resistance. .
As the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate, trimethylolpropane tri (meth) acrylate, pentaerythritol tri (meth) acrylate, pentaerythritol tetra (meth) acrylate, ditrimethylolpropane tetra (meth) acrylate, dipentaerythritol tetra (meth) ) Acrylate, dipentaerythritol penta (meth) acrylate, dipentaerythritol hexa (meth) acrylate and the like are known.
These polyfunctional (meth) acrylates are produced by esterification reaction or transesterification reaction between the corresponding polyhydric alcohol and (meth) acrylic acid, but the product is usually the desired polyfunctional (meth). It is not composed only of acrylate, but (meth) acrylate in which a part of hydroxyl groups derived from polyhydric alcohol remains unreacted and (meth) acrylate in which a part of (meth) acryloyl group is subjected to Michael addition reaction Contains.
In addition, the production of polyfunctional (meth) acrylates requires a higher temperature and longer time compared to the production of (meth) acrylates having one (meth) acryloyl group, and therefore catalysts and polymerization are prohibited in the final product. A substantial amount of impurities derived from the agent and the neutralizing agent are also included. However, since there is no technical means to remove these impurities without increasing the production cost, most of the polyfunctional (meth) acrylates distributed in the market as products are actually (meth) acrylate compositions containing various impurities. It is a thing.
Hereinafter, specific examples of impurities and defects caused by the inclusion of these impurities will be described.
○ By-product Since the (meth) acryloyl group is rich in reactivity, a compound produced by the side reaction, a polymer obtained by polymerizing the (meth) acryloyl group, etc. are by-produced. In particular, a large number of byproduct Michael addition reaction with a carboxyl group of (meth) acrylic acid or an alcoholic hydroxyl group.
The presence of these Michael adducts increases the viscosity of the product and makes it difficult to handle in use, so it may be necessary to incorporate a solvent or diluent. Moreover, since the (meth) acryloyl group is consumed by the Michael addition reaction and the density of the (meth) acryloyl group is reduced, the hardness of the cured product, which is an advantage of the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate, is reduced, The curing speed is reduced (for example, Patent Document 1).
○ Impurities derived from the catalyst As disclosed in
The presence of impurities derived from these catalysts deteriorates the color tone, storage stability, and thermal stability of the product, and a polymer is produced during storage, or (meth) acrylate is decomposed and an acid such as (meth) acrylic acid. Minutes (for example,
O Impurities derived from polymerization inhibitors As disclosed in
The presence of impurities derived from these polymerization inhibitors can cause the product to color. When the product is colored, the commercial value in a field where transparency of the resin is regarded as important, such as an optical electronic material application, is remarkably impaired.
○ Alkali Metal and Alkaline Earth Metal As disclosed in Patent Document 5, impurities derived from an alkali metal compound or an alkaline earth metal compound used as a catalyst or a neutralizing agent may remain in the product.
The presence of impurities derived from these alkali metal compounds and alkaline earth metal compounds may reduce the transparency of the product. When the transparency of the product is lowered, the commercial value in a field where transparency of the resin is regarded as important, such as an optical electronic material application, is remarkably impaired.
Moreover, when the (meth) acrylate composition in which these impurities remain is used in the electronics field such as a resist, various problems may be caused.
In
Further, as described above, the polyfunctional acrylate composition is required to have a high density of (meth) acryloyl groups in the composition in terms of excellent curing speed of the composition and hardness of the cured product. In order to make the density of (meth) acryloyl groups in the composition high, when the reaction is carried out at a high temperature for a long time, there is a problem that the aforementioned impurities are generated.
INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY The present invention can provide a high density of (meth) acryloyl groups containing a large amount of the desired polyfunctional (meth) acrylate, and can reduce impurities that cause the various problems described above. The purpose is to find out.
The present inventors have intensively studied to achieve the above object.
As a result, a composition containing a polyfunctional (meth) acrylate is extracted by contacting with an organic solvent, and a production method comprising a polyfunctional (meth) acrylate having a higher (meth) acryloyl group density than before extraction, And, preferably, after the organic solvent after extraction is transferred and cooled to separate the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate, the organic solvent is reused for extraction and the production method of repeating this is found to be effective. The present invention has been completed.
According to the production method of the present inventors, impurities such as inorganic substances and organic substances such as Michael adducts contained in the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate composition can be efficiently removed, and since these impurities are small, The resulting composition can be excellent in color tone, storage stability and thermal stability. Moreover, since it can be set as the composition with a high density of a (meth) acryloyl group, it becomes possible to draw out various performances inherent in polyfunctional (meth) acrylate.

By making it 50 ppm or more, the polymerization preventing effect can be made sufficient, and by making it 1000 ppm or less, coloring can be prevented or the curability of the product can be prevented from being lowered.
The degree of progress of the esterification reaction is monitored by monitoring the amount of water produced by the esterification reaction, that is, the amount of dehydration, analyzing the acid content concentration in the reaction solution, analyzing the composition of the product (meth) acrylate, Judgment is made by confirming whether the target composition is obtained.

In the transesterification reaction, it is preferable to use a polymerization inhibitor in order to suppress the polymerization during the transesterification reaction, since alkyl (meth) acrylate having high radical polymerizability is used as a raw material.
As the polymerization inhibitor, the same ones as described above can be used, and it is preferable to use them at the same ratio as described above.
As another effective method for suppressing polymerization, there are a method of reacting in an atmosphere of an oxygen-containing gas or a method of reacting while introducing an oxygen-containing gas into a reaction solution. A typical oxygen-containing gas is air, but industrially, a gas having an oxygen concentration reduced to 3 to 15% is preferably used in consideration of the danger of flammable explosion. The oxygen-containing gas can be prepared by mixing oxygen or air with an inert gas. Nitrogen or argon is commonly used as the inert gas.
The transesterification reaction can be performed without using a reaction solvent by using an excessive amount of alkyl (meth) acrylate as a raw material.
However, a solvent may be used for the purpose of efficiently removing the generated alcohol out of the system or for uniformly dissolving the raw materials and products. In this case, it is preferable to use a reaction solvent that can azeotrope with the generated alcohol and dissolve the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate as the product. Examples of reaction solvents include aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene, toluene and xylene, alicyclic hydrocarbons such as cyclohexane, aliphatic hydrocarbons such as n-hexane and n-heptane, and methyl ethyl ethone and methyl isobutyl. Ketones such as ketones may be mentioned.
The transesterification reaction is preferably carried out while distilling the produced alcohol out of the system under reflux.
The reaction temperature depends on the generated alcohol, the raw material alkyl (meth) acrylate, the reaction solvent, and the like, but is preferably adjusted to the boiling point or higher of the generated alcohol. The reaction temperature can be adjusted to some extent by selection of alkyl (meth) acrylate as a raw material and reaction solvent, and pressure control (pressurization or decompression). A preferable reaction temperature is 60 to 160 ° C, and 80 to 150 ° C is more preferable. When the reaction temperature is less than 60 ° C, the reaction rate is slow, and when it exceeds 160 ° C, coloring and gelation are likely to occur.
2. Organic Solvent The polyfunctional (meth) acrylate composition obtained by the esterification reaction or transesterification reaction described above contains a large amount of impurities and has an insufficient (meth) acryloyl group density.
In the production method of the present invention, the crude (meth) acrylate composition and an organic solvent are brought into contact with each other for the purpose of reducing the impurities of the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate composition and increasing the (meth) acryloyl group density. Perform extraction.
As the organic solvent, the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate has high solubility at high temperatures and can dissolve the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate, and the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate has low solubility at low temperatures and the organic polyfunctional (meth) acrylate is organic. the organic solvent having the ability to separate from the solvent, i.e. polyfunctional (meth) an organic solvent having a temperature dependence of the solubility of the acrylate is not preferable.
As an organic solvent, it is an organic solvent which consists only of C6-C9 aliphatic hydrocarbon or alicyclic hydrocarbon, As a specific example of the said compound, n-hexane, a cyclohexane, iso-hexane, n-heptane N-octane and iso-octane are preferred.
An organic solvent may be used individually by 1 type, or may be used in combination of 2 or more types arbitrarily.
When the reaction solvent used in the above esterification reaction or transesterification reaction has a large difference in solubility between the target polyfunctional (meth) acrylate at high and low temperatures, the organic solvent for extracting the same compound as the reaction solvent It can also be used as In this case, after completion of the reaction, the reaction solution can be used as it is as an organic solvent after purification such as alkali washing and water washing, and after the completion of the reaction, after removal of the solvent after purification such as alkali washing, the same kind of reaction solvent is used. Organic solvents can also be used.
The use ratio of the organic solvent is preferably 10 to 3,000% by weight, more preferably 100 to 2,000% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition containing polyfunctional (meth) acrylate. By setting the content to 10% by weight or more, it is possible to prevent the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate mixture and the organic solvent from being completely mixed in
3. Production method of polyfunctional (meth) acrylate In the present invention, a composition containing polyfunctional (meth) acrylate obtained by the above esterification reaction or transesterification reaction is contacted with an organic solvent to perform extraction. Hereinafter, the first invention and the second invention will be described.
3-1. 1st invention In 1st invention, the composition containing polyfunctional (meth) acrylate is made to contact with an organic solvent, extraction is performed, and the composition containing polyfunctional (meth) acrylate with higher (meth) acryloyl group density than before extraction And Specifically, it is preferably 0.05 mmol / g or more, more preferably 0.1 mmol / g or more, than the (meth) acryloyl group density before extraction.
In the present invention, the (meth) acryloyl group density represents the ratio (number of moles) of (meth) acryloyl groups contained in 1 g of the composition. A specific measurement method is a value calculated from a peak area derived from a (meth) acryloyl group by measuring 1 H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum (NMR) of the composition.
As the composition containing the polyfunctional acrylate used in the first invention, it is possible to obtain a polyfunctional acrylate with less impurities by using a purified product obtained by the above esterification reaction or transesterification reaction. This is preferable.
Examples of the purification method include washing with an aqueous alkali solution, washing with water, filtration, and solvent removal. A polyfunctional (meth) acrylate obtained by combining these purification methods is used according to the purpose.
In the first invention, extraction is performed by bringing a composition containing a polyfunctional acrylate into contact with an organic solvent.
The extraction method is not particularly limited, and can be carried out by single extraction, multiple extraction, continuous multistage extraction, countercurrent multistage extraction, or the like. The extraction apparatus is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include a stirring tank, a mixer setler, an RDC (rotated disk contactor) tower, a reciprocating vibration extraction tower, a perforated plate tray tower, and the like.
The extraction temperature may be appropriately set according to the boiling point of the organic solvent to be used and the solubility of the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate to be obtained. If vaporization occurs from the inside of the liquid due to boiling, the liquid-liquid separation property of the extraction It is preferable to make it below the boiling point of the organic solvent to be used because it is necessary to provide a condensation facility for the vaporized organic solvent. Specifically, -40-140 degreeC is preferable, -20-120 degreeC is more preferable, and 0-100 degreeC is further more preferable. By carrying out
Further, by performing the extraction in the presence of water, the extraction efficiency can be improved and the time required for implementing the present invention can be shortened.
The liquid containing the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate extracted in the organic solvent as described above is a composition containing a polyfunctional (meth) acrylate having a higher (meth) acryloyl group density than before extraction.
The liquid after extraction contains a large amount of an organic solvent, and it is preferable to separate the organic solvent.
The organic solvent is preferably separated by distillation. In distillation, it is preferable to perform distillation under reduced pressure in order to prevent polymerization or coloring of the resulting polyfunctional (meth) acrylate. The distillation temperature may be set according to the organic solvent to be used and the degree of vacuum, but is preferably 40 to 120 ° C., and the degree of vacuum is preferably 0.001 to 90 kPa.
When the product using the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate contains a solvent, it is not necessary to completely separate the organic solvent, and a part of the organic solvent can be left.
When the target polyfunctional (meth) acrylate is obtained as a crystal, crystallization can be performed to separate the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate.
3-2. 2nd invention 2nd invention is a manufacturing method including the following process 1-
Process 1: The process of extracting by contacting the composition containing polyfunctional (meth) acrylate with the organic solvent.

According to the second invention, the (meth) acryloyl group density of the polyfunctional (meth) acrylate composition can be made higher, and the organic solvent is repeatedly used, so that the amount of the organic solvent used can be reduced.
