Description
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for fluidly contacting a catalyst with a hydrocarbon. More particularly, the present invention relates to an apparatus and method for stripping entrained or adsorbed hydrocarbons from catalyst particles.
A variety of methods contact finely divided particulate material with a feed containing hydrocarbons under conditions where the fluid maintains the particles in a fluidized state and carries out transport to different stages of the solid particle process. Let Fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) is a prime example of such a process in which a hydrocarbon comprising finely divided particulate material in a reaction zone is contacted with a hydrocarbon.
The FCC process equipment consists of a reaction zone and a catalyst regeneration zone. Within the reaction zone, the feed stream is contacted with finely divided fluidized powder particles or catalyst maintained at a high temperature and a slight positive pressure. Contact with the feed and catalyst is usually done in the ascending conduit, but can be done in any effective device, such as a known device for short contact time contacts. In the case of the riser, the primarily vertical conduit has a main reaction site and the effluent of the conduit is discharged into a large volume process vessel, which can be referred to as a reaction vessel or a separation vessel. The residence time of catalyst and hydrocarbons in the riser required to substantially complete the cracking reaction is only a few seconds or less. The flowing steam / catalyst stream leaving the riser can enter the separation vessel directly without passing through the solid-vapor separation device or intermediate separation device located in the separation vessel from the riser. When no intermediate device is provided, most of the catalyst falls from the flowing steam / catalyst stream as the stream leaves the riser and enters the separation vessel. Nearly invariant, one or more additional solid / vapor separators, which are cyclone separators, are usually placed in and on top of a large separator. The reaction product is still separated from the portion of the catalyst that is carried by the vapor stream by one or more cyclones, and the vapor is vented from the cyclone and the separation zone. The spent catalyst falls down to a lower position in the separation vessel.
The catalyst is continuously circulated from the reaction zone to the regeneration zone and then again to the reaction zone. Thus, the catalyst functions as a support that heats from region to region and provides the necessary catalytic activity. Any FCC catalyst can be used for this process. The particles typically have dimensions of 100 μm or less. The catalyst drawn from the regeneration zone is referred to as a “regeneration” contact. The catalyst packed in the regeneration zone is contacted with a gas containing oxygen, such as air or air rich in oxygen, under conditions that result in the coke burning. As a result, the temperature of the catalyst rises, and a large amount of hot gas that is removed from the regeneration region as a gas flow called an exhaust gas flow is generated. The regeneration zone typically operates at temperatures of 600 ° C. (1112 ° F.) to 800 ° C. (1472 ° F.). Additional information regarding the operation of the FCC reaction and regeneration zone can be found in US Pat. No. 4,541,922, US Pat. No. 4,541,923, US Pat. No. 4,431,749. No. 4,419,221, US Pat. No. 4,220,623.
The conversion of raw materials within the reaction zone is controlled by adjusting the temperature, the activity of the catalyst and the amount of catalyst maintained in the reaction zone (ie, the catalyst to oil ratio). The most common method of adjusting the temperature in the reaction zone is by adjusting the amount of catalyst circulating from the regeneration zone to the reaction zone, which simultaneously changes the catalyst to oil ratio. That is, when it is desired to increase the conversion rate in the reaction zone, the flow rate of catalyst from the regeneration zone to the reaction zone increases. As a result, more catalyst is present in the reaction zone for the same amount of oil to be filled. Since the temperature in the regeneration zone under normal operating conditions is significantly higher than the temperature in the reaction zone, the amount of catalyst circulation from the regeneration zone to the reaction zone increases, resulting in an increase in the temperature in the reaction zone.
The chemical composition and structure of the feed to the FCC unit will affect the amount of coke deposited on the catalyst in the reaction zone. In general, the higher the ratio of molecular weight, Conradson carbon, heptane insolubles and raw material carbon to hydrogen, the more coke will be in the spent catalyst. The higher the conversion rate, the greater the amount of coke in the spent catalyst. Also, high levels of bound nitrogen, such as found in shale derived oils, increase the amount of coke in the spent catalyst. As a result of the processing of heavier raw materials, such as desulfurized oil or atmospheric effluent from a crude oil fractionator (bottom (commonly referred to as reduced crude oil)), some or all of these factors This increases the amount of coke in the spent catalyst. As used herein, the term “spent catalyst” is intended to indicate a catalyst employed in the reaction zone that is transported to the regeneration zone to remove coke deposits. . This term is not intended to indicate a complete lack of catalytic activity by the catalyst particles. The term “spent catalyst” is intended to have the same meaning as the term “spent catalyst”.
The majority of the hydrocarbon vapor that contacts the catalyst in the reaction zone is separated from the solid particles in the reaction zone by acceleration separation and / or centrifugation. However, the catalyst particles employed in the FCC process have a large surface area due to the very large number of pores present in the particles. As a result, the catalyst material retains hydrocarbons in the pores on the outer surface of the catalyst and in the spaces between the individual catalyst particles as the catalyst particles enter the exfoliation region. Although the amount of hydrocarbons retained on each individual catalyst particle is very small, modern FCC processes typically use a large amount of catalyst and a large amount of catalyst circulation, resulting in the following: A significant amount of hydrocarbon is withdrawn from the reaction zone.
For this reason, it is common practice to remove or strip hydrocarbons from the spent catalyst before passing the spent catalyst through the regeneration zone. The high concentration of hydrocarbons on the spent catalyst entering the regenerator increases its relative carbon combustion load, resulting in a higher regenerator temperature. Avoiding unnecessary combustion of hydrocarbons is particularly important during processing of heavy (relatively high molecular weight) raw materials, which is that processing these raw materials is a light raw material during the reaction. This is because the amount of coke deposited on the catalyst is increased and the temperature in the regeneration region is increased as compared with the amount of coking in the above case. As a result of the improved stripping, the temperature of the regenerator is lower and the conversion rate is higher.
The most common method of stripping spent catalyst usually involves advancing stripping gas, which is water vapor, through a flow stream of catalyst that is countercurrent to its flow direction. Such a water vapor stripping process with different efficiencies removes the carbon hydrogen vapor that is brought in with the catalyst and adsorbed on the catalyst. Contact of the catalyst with the stripping medium can be carried out in a simple open container, as demonstrated by US Pat. No. 4,481,103.
When the catalyst moves down along the stripping device and the countercurrent comes into contact with the stripping medium, the vertically separated baffles (warping plates, regulating plates) are used to move the catalyst in a cascade toward the side. By using it, the stripping efficiency of the catalyst is increased. Moving the catalyst in the horizontal direction increases contact between the catalyst and the stripping medium, thus removing more hydrocarbons from the catalyst. In these arrangements, the catalyst is provided with a labyrinth path through a series of baffles arranged at different heights. With this arrangement, contact between the catalyst and the gas is increased, leaving no substantially open vertical path of significant cross section through the stripper. Further examples of these stripping devices for FCC devices are US Pat. No. 2,440,620, US Pat. No. 2,612,438, US Pat. No. 3,894,932, US Pat. No. 4,414,100, U.S. Pat. No. 4,364,905. These documents show a typical stripping vessel arrangement having a stripping vessel and a series of outer baffles in the form of a frustoconical cross-section leading the catalyst to a series of inner baffles. The inner baffle is a centrally located conical or frustoconical portion supported on the reactor riser that rises through the stripping vessel. The inner baffle facilitates horizontal movement with the catalyst directed outwardly to the outer baffle or vice versa. The stripping medium enters the lower baffle from below and continues to rise upward from the bottom of one baffle to the bottom of the next subsequent baffle. A modification of the baffle is shown in FIG. 3 of US Pat. No. 4,500,423, as shown in US Pat. No. 2,994,659, with a skirt located at the trailing edge of the baffle. As such, it involves the use of multiple linear baffle portions at different baffle heights. A variation that introduces a stripping medium is described in US Pat. No. 2,541,801, where an amount of fluidizing gas is introduced at a number of discrete locations. U.S. Pat. No. 5,531,884 includes one or more large vertical conduits in the baffle to provide additional catalyst and to provide a gas circulation path through the baffle. One modification of a baffle-type stripping vessel is shown. It is also known to concentrate the opening in the truly centered part of the stripping baffle.
The baffle in the stripping vessel for the FCC apparatus is typically oriented to have an angle of 45 ° to the horizon. The inclined baffle ensures that the catalyst moves away from the tray and down to another height in the stripping vessel and moves relative to the horizontal components. However, because each of the inclined trays has a significant bevel, these trays limit the number of trays that can be placed at a given height of the stripping container. The greater the number of trays in the stripping container, the better the overall performance. On the other hand, if the baffle is mounted with a smaller gradient, the catalyst will accumulate at the top of the baffle unless fluidization above the baffle is increased, which requires increasing the flow rate of the stripping medium. US 2002/0008052 A1 discloses a fully fluidized release baffle.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,910,240 discloses a frustoconical stripping baffle that includes a vane configured to provide a pivoting action for a descending catalyst. US Pat. No. 5,549,814 discloses a stripping vessel having a layer of inverted U-shaped grids extending radially from an inner riser. The holes in the “U” shaped leg allow the stripping medium to pass through.
International application 91/00899 discloses a peeling container having a perforated horizontal tray. Fluidization in the stripping vessel allows the catalyst to descend substantially from one tray to another only through the downcomer portion of each tray. The catalyst material forms a dense bed on the top surface of each tray without significant amounts of catalyst leaching through the tray holes. This document also teaches the use of a deflector plate above an annular tray and a downcomer vertically aligned at the center of the tray consisting of a wire mesh or bar array. US 2001/0027938 A1 also teaches horizontal baffles.
Presently, providing a stripping vessel having a baffle with a downcomer extending radially from the center of the baffle or from an inner conduit generally catalyzes several angled directions beyond the surface of the baffle. It has been found to cause horizontal movement of the. Thus, the catalyst spreads horizontally across each surface of the baffle to provide greater contact with the upwardly flowing stripping medium.

First, describing in more detail the FCC process in which the present invention can be used, a typical feed to the FCC unit is a gas oil such as light oil or vacuum light oil. The other petroleum-based feed stream to the FCC unit can be a heavier hydrocarbon diesel boiling range mixture, such as hydrocarbons or reduced crude oil. The feed stream consists of a mixture of hydrocarbons having a boiling point determined by appropriate ASTM test methods, ie, 230 ° C. (446 ° F.) or higher, more preferably 290 ° C. (554 ° F.) or higher. Preferably it is. It is becoming more and more common to refer to FCC type equipment that processes heavy raw materials, such as steam distillation residue, as residual crude oil cracking equipment or residual cracking equipment. The method and apparatus of the present invention can be used for either FCC or residual cracking processes. For convenience, the rest of this document will only describe the FCC process.
Typically, because of the wide use of vertical tubular conduits or pipes, the reaction zone of the FCC process, referred to as the “rising tube”, is maintained at a high temperature state, including a temperature of 425 ° C. (797 ° F.) or higher overall. . Preferably, the reaction zone has a temperature of 480 ° to 590 ° C. (896 ° to 1094 ° F.) and 65 to 500 kPa (9.4 to 72.5 psia), but preferably no more than 275 kPa (39.9 psia). It shall be maintained in a decomposed state including pressure. The ratio of catalyst to oil based on the weight of catalyst and hydrocarbon entering the bottom of the riser can reach the range of 20: 1, but is preferably 4: 1 and 10: 1. Hydrogen is not normally added to the riser, but adding hydrogen is known in the art. In some cases, steam can pass into the riser. The average residence time of the catalyst in the riser is preferably less than 5 seconds. The catalyst type employed in this process can be selected from a wide variety of commercially available catalysts. Catalysts made of zeolitic materials are preferred, but older amorphous catalysts may be used if desired.
触媒の再生領域は、35から500kPa(5.1から72.5psia)の圧力にて作動させることが好ましい。 The regeneration zone of the catalyst is preferably operated at a pressure of 35 to 500 kPa (5.1 to 72.5 psia). The spent catalyst charged to the regeneration zone can contain 0.2 to 15 wt% coke. This coke is mainly composed of carbon and can contain 3 to 12 wt% hydrogen, sulfur, and other elements. Coke oxidation generates common combustion products such as water, carbon oxides, sulfur oxides and nitrous oxide. As is known to those skilled in the art, the playback region can take several forms, and playback can be performed in one or more stages. Since regeneration can be realized with a fluidized catalyst that exists in either the lean phase or the dense phase within the regeneration region, further modifications are possible. The term “lean phase” is intended to indicate a catalyst / gas mixture having a density of 300 kg / m 3 (18.7 lb / ft 3 ) or less. In a similar manner, the term “dense phase” is intended to mean that the catalyst / gas mixture has a density of 300 kg / m 3 (18.7 lb / ft 3 ) or higher. Typical dilute phase operating conditions often include a catalyst / gas mixture having a density of 15 to 150 kg / m 3 (0.9 to 9.4 lb / ft 3 ).

In one embodiment, the separation height between each subsequent tray is in the range of 31 to 76 cm (12 to 30 inches). In another embodiment, the separation height between subsequent trays is 61 cm (24 inches), but the height is lowered to 46 cm (18 inches) so that more baffles can be packed into the peeled

The
1.0から1.3cm(0.375から0.5インチ)の開口部の寸法が適当であろう。
In one embodiment, the

In one embodiment, the cross section of the stripped

In one embodiment, the baffle is typically made of alloy steel that withstands high temperature conditions in the reaction zone. Such steel is often eroded and the baffle defines an opening and uses inserts or nozzles to provide resistance to erosion conditions when added by catalyst circulation above the top of the baffle. Can benefit from In addition, the baffle is normally covered with a refractory material that provides additional erosion resistance. Details of abrasion resistant nozzles and refractory linings are well known to those skilled in the art of particle transport.
