Description
The present invention relates to a bipolar battery, a battery pack using the bipolar battery, and a vehicle, and more particularly, a bipolar battery having improved reliability and safety when the temperature of the bipolar battery rises, and the bipolar battery The present invention relates to an assembled battery using a battery and a vehicle.
In recent years, reduction of carbon dioxide emissions has become an important issue in each industry due to increasing interest in global environmental problems. In the automobile industry, as hybrid cars and electric cars that emit less carbon dioxide than gasoline cars are actively developed, expectations for batteries having high energy density and high output density are increasing.
A bipolar battery is configured by stacking a plurality of single cells in series. Therefore, the bipolar battery can charge and discharge the battery with a plurality of single cells connected in series, and has a high output density.
By the way, in such a bipolar battery, if the cells have a variation in capacity, the overcharged cells may generate heat. Moreover, when the current value at the time of discharge is large, a difference occurs in the current value between the stacked unit cells, and there is a possibility that a specific unit cell in which an overcurrent flows generates heat.
However, in the above-described conventional technology, it is possible to protect the secondary battery by detecting heat generation due to overcharging of the secondary battery and disconnecting from the external device, but it has a complicated circuit. It is necessary to provide a circuit outside the secondary battery.
Therefore, if this conventional technique is applied to finely protect each battery cell against heat generated by overcharging the bipolar battery, a large number of protection circuits must be provided. Accordingly, the cost is very high, and it is difficult to provide a bipolar battery having high reliability and safety.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems. Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a bipolar battery that can prevent heat generation due to an overcharged state of a single cell and ensure the reliability of the battery with a simple configuration.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an assembled battery formed by electrically connecting a plurality of bipolar batteries.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a vehicle equipped with a bipolar battery or an assembled battery thereof.
The above object of the present invention is achieved by the following means.
The bipolar battery of the present invention includes a power generation element, a resistance value lowering member, and a conductive wire. The power generation element is configured by alternately laminating a plurality of bipolar electrodes each having a positive electrode active material layer formed on one surface of a current collector and a negative electrode active material layer formed on the other surface, and an electrolyte layer. The The resistance value lowering member is formed on at least one of the current collectors constituting the power generation element, and has a resistance value ranging from a resistance value that exhibits insulation to a resistance value that exhibits electrical conductivity due to an increase in temperature of the current collector. Has a characteristic of lowering. The conducting wire supplies a current from the power generation element to the external loader via the resistance value reducing member.
The assembled battery of the present invention is formed by connecting a plurality of bipolar batteries in series or in parallel, or combining a plurality of series and parallel connections to electrically connect a plurality.
The vehicle of the present invention is equipped with a bipolar battery or an assembled battery as a driving power source.
According to the bipolar battery of the present invention, by incorporating the resistance value lowering member in the bipolar battery, when the temperature rises to a temperature at which the battery function is stopped when the battery is charged, the resistance value of the resistance value lowering member is reduced. It suddenly drops and the charging current flows out to the external loader via the conductor. Therefore, it is prevented by a simple device configuration that no further charging is performed and the unit cell is overcharged and generates heat. Therefore, the safety and reliability of the battery are ensured without installing a device having a complicated configuration outside.
According to the assembled battery according to the present invention, an assembled battery having high reliability and safety can be provided.
The vehicle according to the present invention can provide a vehicle with stable running performance.

First, the overall configuration of the bipolar battery in this embodiment will be described.
The
The

In the bipolar battery of the present invention, the
A liquid electrolyte or a gel electrolyte can be used as the electrolyte. The liquid electrolyte has a form in which a lithium salt as a supporting salt is dissolved in an organic solvent as a plasticizer. Examples of the organic solvent that can be used as the plasticizer include carbonates such as ethylene carbonate (EC) and propylene carbonate (PC). Further, as the supporting salt (lithium salt), a compound that can be added to the active material layer of the electrode, such as LiBETI, can be similarly employed.
On the other hand, the gel electrolyte is a polymer electrolyte containing an electrolytic solution, and specifically has a configuration in which the liquid electrolyte is injected into a matrix polymer made of an ion conductive polymer. Examples of the ion conductive polymer used as the matrix polymer include polyethylene oxide (PEO), polypropylene oxide (PPO), and copolymers thereof. In such polyalkylene oxide polymers, electrolyte salts such as lithium salts can be well dissolved. The matrix polymer of gel electrolyte can express excellent mechanical strength by forming a crosslinked structure. In order to form a crosslinked structure, thermal polymerization, ultraviolet polymerization, radiation polymerization, electron beam polymerization, etc. are performed on a polymerizable polymer (for example, PEO or PPO) for forming a polymer electrolyte using an appropriate polymerization initiator. A polymerization treatment may be performed.

The
It is most preferable that the
In addition, the

The
The
Next, a bipolar battery according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG.
FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line II of FIG. As described above, in the present embodiment, the resistance value of the CTR thermistor changes as the temperature of the cell 11 rises, and the charging current flows to the
As shown in FIG. 2, the
When the
Next, the operating principle of the bipolar battery of this embodiment will be described.
In the present embodiment, when the
Further, if the unit cell 11 is not heated, the resistance value of the
According to the
Next, with reference to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, the assembled battery and vehicle in this Embodiment are demonstrated. FIG. 3 is a diagram showing an assembled battery in which a plurality of bipolar batteries of the present embodiment are connected in series or in parallel.
The

FIG. 4 is a diagram showing an electric vehicle on which the assembled battery according to the present embodiment is mounted as a driving power source. The
As shown in FIG. 4, in the
(Modification)
Next, with reference to FIGS. 5 to 8, a modification of the bipolar battery in the present embodiment will be described. 5-8 is a figure which shows the modification of the formation position of the CTR thermistor in the bipolar battery shown in FIG.
As shown in FIG. 5, in this modification, the
In addition, as shown in FIG. 6, in this modification, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 7, in this modification, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 8, in the present modification, a plurality of
As described above, the described embodiment has the following effects.
(A) The bipolar battery of the present embodiment includes a power generation element, a CTR thermistor, and a conductive wire. The power generation element is configured by alternately laminating a plurality of bipolar electrodes each having a positive electrode active material layer formed on one surface of a current collector and a negative electrode active material layer formed on the other surface, and an electrolyte layer. The The CTR thermistor is formed on at least one current collector among the plurality of current collectors of the power generation element. The conducting wire is provided outside and supplies current through an CTR thermistor to an external loader that is thermally isolated from the power generation element. Therefore, when any one of the plurality of cells constituting the power generation element is overcharged and the temperature rises, the resistance value of the CTR thermistor rapidly decreases and the charging current flows out to the external loader. This prevents the unit cell from further generating heat. As a result, the safety and reliability of the battery can be ensured without installing a device having a complicated configuration outside.
(B) The CTR thermistor is in contact with the current collector disposed at the top of the power generation element. Therefore, when any one of the plurality of unit cells constituting the power generation element is overcharged and the temperature rises, heat generation is prevented in all the unit cells.
(C) The CTR thermistor is disposed outside the sealing material that seals the electrolyte layer from the outside between the current collectors adjacent in the stacking direction. Therefore, the electrolyte solution in the electrolyte layer is prevented from being deteriorated by the CTR thermistor which is an oxide.
(D) The conducting wire is provided inside or in contact with the surface of the CTR thermistor, and connects a plurality of CTR thermistors. Therefore, by having the conducting wire, even when the CTR thermistor is formed only at a part of the outer edge of the current collector, the charging current can be guided to the external loader due to the decrease in the resistance value accompanying the temperature rise. Further, even if only a part of the resistance value of the CTR thermistor decreases with the temperature rise of the unit cell, the charging current can be guided to the external loader through the conductive wire.
(E) The CTR thermistor is provided over the entire circumference of the outer peripheral portion of the current collector, and the conducting wire is provided in contact with the inside or the surface of the CTR thermistor. Therefore, the CTR thermistor can efficiently detect the temperature rise of the unit cell.
(F) The assembled battery of the present embodiment is configured by electrically connecting a plurality of bipolar batteries. Therefore, the safety and reliability of the assembled battery are improved.
(G) The vehicle of this embodiment is equipped with a bipolar battery or an assembled battery as a driving power source. Therefore, the safety and reliability of the vehicle are improved, and stable running performance can be obtained.
As described above, the bipolar battery of the present invention has been described in the embodiment. However, it goes without saying that the present invention can be appropriately added, modified, and omitted by those skilled in the art within the scope of the technical idea.
For example, in the embodiment of the present invention, the CTR thermistor is formed on one current collector. However, the CTR thermistor may be formed on a plurality of current collectors in consideration of the thermal conductivity of the unit cell, the electrode area, and the like.
Further, in the modification of the embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of CTR thermistors are connected by one conductor and connected to a load resistor. However, it may be connected to the load resistor by a plurality of conductive wires.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the lithium ion secondary battery has been described as an example.
