ここにおいて、
v(sub):浮動物体の流体中に沈んだ容積
ρ(fluid):物体が浮かぶ流体の密度
v(obj):浮動物体の全容積
ρ(obj):浮動物体の密度
従って、全容積に対する沈んだ容積の割合は、流体の以下の関係式のように流体の密度に対する物体の密度に比例する。
v(sub)/v(obj)=ρ(obj)/ρ(fluid)
上記の関係から、いずれの物体についても、浮動物体の沈んだ容積は、該物体が浮かぶ流体の密度の関数である。上記の理由により、流体の密度を制御し得ない本発明の場合、赤血球内に沈んだ分離部材10の容積部分は制御し得ない。
ρ(rbc)−ρ(sc)/ρ(sc)−ρ(plasma)=m(plasma)/m(rbc)
ここにおいて、
ρ(rbc):赤血球層の密度
ρ(sc):分離部材の密度
ρ(plasma):血漿層の密度
m(plasma):血漿層内における分離部材の質量
m(rbc):赤血球層内における分離部材の質量
上記関係式から前述したと同様の結論が導き出されるが、更には以下の基本的結論が導き出される。すなわち、分離部材の血漿層内の割合及び赤血球層内の割合が、分離部材及びこれら層の密度の関数である。
Claims (19)
- 生理的流体の成分を分離するための装置であって、
前記生理的流体を受け入れるための空洞を形成するチューブ状チャンバと、
該チャンバはその内部に分離部材を有することと、
該分離部材は前記生理的流体内で浮かぶように構成されるとともに該生理的流体の分離された成分のそれぞれの密度に従って該チャンバ内の位置を占めるように構成され、
該分離部材は、血漿との境界領域において前記生理的流体の内のより軽い第1の成分内で浮かぶように構成された位置付け部と、
該位置付け部から所定距離だけ離間するとともに該生理的流体の内のより密度が大きい第2の成分内で浮かぶように構成されるとともに該第1の成分を該第2の成分から物理的に分離するために前記チャンバを少なくとも部分的に横切るように延出して構成された分離部とより成り、
前記位置付け部の質量は、該分離部材の全質量の少なくとも約65%であることを特徴とする装置。 - 前記位置付け部の質量は、前記分離部材の全質量の65%から80%の範囲にある請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部の質量は、前記分離部材の全質量の約68%である請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部は、肉薄ディスクよりなるとともに前記分離部材が前記チャンバ内で浮かぶときに安定性を付与する複数の安定化用脚を備えてなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記分離部は、肉薄平坦ディスクよりなる請求項4に記載の装置。
- 前記分離部は、一連の半径方向に延出した山部と谷部とを形成した肉薄ディスクよりなる請求項4に記載の装置。
- 前記分離部は、一連の半径方向に延出した山部と谷部とを形成した肉薄ディスクよりなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部及び分離部は、連結されてなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部は、前記分離部材が前記チャンバ内で浮かぶときに安定性を付与する複数の安定化用脚を周辺に備えてなる請求項8に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部は、外壁と該外壁に向かってテーパ状をなす内壁を有する請求項8を記載する装置。
- 前記外壁は円筒状を呈し、前記内壁は円錐形状を呈してなる請求項10に記載の装置。
- 前記位置付け部及び分離部は、前記血漿の密度が一定であり、前記のより軽い成分の密度が約2%だけ変化するとき、該血漿と該より軽い成分の間の境界領域に対する該分離部材の位置の相違が約0.10インチ(2.54mm)より小さいように構成されてなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記生理的流体は血液であり、前記第2の成分は赤血球を含んでなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記第1の成分は血小板を含んでなる請求項13に記載の装置。
- 前記生理的流体は骨髄吸出物質であり、前記第2の成分は赤血球を含んでなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記第1の成分は幹細胞を含んでなる請求項15に記載の装置。
- 前記分離部材は、該分離部材の外縁と該チューブ状チャンバの内縁との間に空気の流通を許容するために前記第1の成分のデカント操作の間に前記第2の成分によって該分離部材の一側部に付与される圧力に応じて傾斜するように構成されてなる請求項1に記載の装置。
- 生理的流体を受け入れるための空洞を形成するチューブ状チャンバと、該チャンバはその内部に分離部材を有することと、該分離部材は前記生理的流体内で浮かぶように構成されるとともに該生理的流体の分離された成分のそれぞれの密度に従って該チャンバ内の位置を占めるように構成され、該分離部材は、血漿との境界領域において前記生理的流体の内のより軽い第1の成分内で浮かぶように構成された位置付け部と、該位置付け部から所定距離だけ離間するとともに該生理的流体の内のより密度が大きい第2の成分内で浮かぶように構成されるとともに該第1の成分を該第2の成分から物理的に分離するために前記チャンバを少なくとも部分的に横切るように延出して構成された分離部とより成り、前記位置付け部の質量は、該分離部材の全質量の少なくとも約65%である構成の遠心分離装置によって上澄み液を分離する方法において、
前記生理的流体を前記チューブ状チャンバに加え、
該チャンバ及び該生理的流体に遠心分離操作を施してなる
方法。 - 前記上澄み液をデカント操作する工程を含み、該デカント操作の工程において該デカント操作の間に、前記より重い成分との接触により該上澄み液に向かって前記チューブ状チャンバに沿い直線的な該分離部材の移動を許容してなる請求項18に記載の方法。
