Description
ここで、パラレックスバリアを、映像を表示するイメージパネルの前におくか、後におくかによって、前面バリア方式と後面バリア方式とに区分することができる。
図面符号“330”は、パラレックスバリア310の上側と下側とに各々形成される透明板である。
また、本発明の他の目的は、モジュール化したコレステリック液晶パネル及び位相差板によって光透過率を向上させ、パラレックスバリア方式において頻繁に発生する、輝度の低下を防止することができる自動立体映像表示装置を提供することにある。
図2は、本発明の一実施形態に係る自動立体映像表示装置の断面図であり、図3は、図2の自動立体映像表示装置におけるコレステリック液晶パネルの一実施形態の断面図であり、図4は、図2の自動立体映像表示装置におけるコレステリック液晶パネルの他の実施形態の断面図である。
図5及び図6は、図2の自動立体映像表示装置の動作状態を示した断面図であって、図5は、3次元の立体映像を実現する場合を示し、図6は、2次元の平面映像を実現する場合を示す。

Claims (4)
- 第1の液晶パネルと、当該第1の液晶パネルの下側に設けられる第2の液晶パネルと、当該第2の液晶パネルの下側に設けられて、光を発散するバックライトとを備える自動立体映像表示装置において、
前記第1の液晶パネルが、映像を実現する液晶パネルと、当該液晶パネルの上側に設けられる第1の偏光板と、当該液晶パネルの下側に設けられる第2の偏光板とを備え、
前記第2の液晶パネルが、入力される電界に応じてバリア領域とスリット領域とが交互に配列されるコレステリック液晶パネルと、当該コレステリック液晶パネルの上側に設けられる第1の位相差板と、当該コレステリック液晶パネルの下側に設けられる第2の位相差板とを備え、
前記バックライトが、光を反射させる反射板を備え、前記第1の位相差板及び前記第2の位相差板が、λ/4の位相遅延値を有し、
前記第2の偏光板の偏光軸が、前記スリット領域の第1の位相差板を透過した光の振動方向と並んだ方向を有することを特徴とする自動立体映像表示装置。 - 前記コレステリック液晶パネルが、
上板と、下板と、前記上板の下面に形成される第1の電極と、当該第1の電極と対向して前記下板の上面に形成される第2の電極と、前記上板と前記下板との間に設けられるコレステリック液晶層とを備えることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の自動立体映像表示装置。 - 前記第1の電極及び前記第2の電極のうち、少なくともいずれか1つの電極が、前記バリア領域に対応するバリア電極と、前記スリット領域に対応するスリット電極とを備え、
前記バリア電極及び前記スリット電極が互いに離隔した状態で交互に配列されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の自動立体映像表示装置。 - 前記第1の位相差板及び前記第2の位相差板のうち、少なくともいずれか1つの位相差板の遅軸が、直線偏光の振動方向に対し各々+45°と−45°とのうち、いずれかの方向に形成されることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の自動立体映像表示装置。
