Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a coin identifying method and a coin identifying apparatus that irradiates light to a coin to be conveyed and images reflected light from the coin, and particularly, a characteristic change accompanying a temperature change like a plastic lens. The present invention relates to a coin discriminating method and a coin discriminating apparatus that can perform stable coin discrimination against temperature changes even when a large lens is used.
A coin discriminating apparatus that shoots a coin image by irradiating light on a coin and introducing reflected light from the coin into a light receiving unit such as a CCD (Charge Coupled Devices) camera, and discriminating the denomination and authenticity of the coin Are known. In such a coin identification device, it is generally performed that a coin is transported by a transport mechanism and a coin image is captured when it reaches an imaging position.
Here, in order to introduce the reflected light described above into the light receiving portion of the CCD camera, a lens unit combined with a convex lens is used. Glass may be used as the material of such a convex lens. However, since the lens unit becomes expensive if the material is made of glass, an inexpensive plastic lens such as an acrylic resin (PMMA) lens or a polycarbonate resin (PC) lens is used. Often used.
However, the plastic lens has the advantage of being easy to process in addition to the advantage of being inexpensive, but has the disadvantage that the lens characteristics are likely to change due to changes in refractive index and volume due to temperature changes (for example, patents). Reference 1). For this reason, attempts have been made to alleviate such drawbacks by combining a plurality of lenses.
For example,
However, using the technique of
Specifically, even when the technique of
The reason is that, since the diameter of the coin acquired through the image is used as the identification element, it is difficult to perform proper coin identification when the diameter of the coin based on the image varies. In addition, when the template image prepared in advance and the coin image are compared, if the size of the coin image varies depending on the temperature, the comparison process with the template is adversely affected.
From these things, even if it is a case where a lens with a large characteristic change accompanying a temperature change like a plastic lens is used, a coin discriminating method or a coin discriminating device which can perform stable coin discrimination against a temperature change is provided. How to achieve it is a big issue.
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems caused by the prior art. Even when a lens having a large characteristic change accompanying a temperature change such as a plastic lens is used, the present invention is resistant to the temperature change. An object of the present invention is to provide a coin identifying method and a coin identifying apparatus capable of performing stable coin identification.
In order to solve the above-described problems and achieve the object, the present invention is a coin identification method for identifying a coin by irradiating light to a conveyed coin and imaging reflected light from the coin, which is a magnetic sensor. Further, in the present invention, in the above invention, based on the temperature at the time of acquisition detected by the temperature detection step, the coin is not offset when being transported while being offset to one end of a transport path for transporting the coin. The detection range of the coin end on the side is changed .
Further, the present invention is the above-described invention, wherein in the above invention, a cut boundary determination is performed in which a cut boundary in the case where a predetermined partial image is cut out from the coin image is determined based on the temperature at the time of acquisition and the magnification information detected by the temperature detection step. The method further includes a step.
Further, the present invention is characterized in that, in the above invention, the cut boundary determination step determines the cut boundary while performing magnification correction on a polar coordinate conversion plane.
Further, the present invention is a coin identifying device for identifying the coin by irradiating light to the coin to be conveyed and imaging the reflected light from the coin, and using a magnetic sensor, the temporary denomination of the coin denomination Temporary denomination denomination means for performing determination, coin image acquisition means for acquiring a coin image by condensing the reflected light by a lens unit, and the temperature at which the coin image is acquired by the coin image acquisition means A temperature detecting means for detecting a temperature at the time of acquisition, and magnification information indicating a relationship between the temperature at the time of acquisition and a magnification with respect to a reference temperature with respect to a change in magnification of the coin image caused by a temperature characteristic of the lens unit; a storage means for storing in advance Te, the coin in the coin image acquired by the image acquiring unit, detected by said temperature detecting means is said acquisition time temperature, the storage Based on the diameter of the provisionally determined denomination at a magnification information and the denomination tentatively determining means is stored in stages, that a coin detection range correcting means for correcting the coin detection range in the coin image Features.
According to the present invention, a denomination of the denomination of the coin is performed using a magnetic sensor, a coin image is acquired by condensing the reflected light by the lens unit, and the temperature when the coin image is acquired is shown. Magnification information indicating the relationship between the temperature at the time of acquisition and the magnification with respect to the reference temperature is stored in advance in the storage unit for the magnification fluctuation of the coin image caused by the temperature characteristics of the lens unit by detecting the temperature at the time of acquisition In the coin image, since the coin detection range in the coin image is corrected based on the temperature at the time of acquisition, magnification information, and the diameter of the tentatively determined denomination , the characteristic change accompanying the temperature change is large like a plastic lens. Even when a lens is used, there is an effect that it is possible to perform stable coin identification with respect to a temperature change.
Further, according to the present invention, since the cut-out boundary in the case of cutting out a predetermined partial image from a coin image is determined based on the detected acquisition temperature and magnification information, temperature correction is performed for the magnification of the image image. Thus, even if there is a temperature change, there is an effect that image matching can be performed stably and with high accuracy.
Exemplary embodiments of a coin identifying method and a coin identifying apparatus according to the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following, a coin identifying device using an acrylic resin (PMMA) or polycarbonate resin (PC) lens as a lens unit lens for forming a coin image on the imaging unit will be described.
First, the outline | summary of the coin identification device based on a present Example is demonstrated using FIG. FIG. 1 is a diagram illustrating the lens characteristics and processing outline of the coin identifying device according to the present embodiment. In addition, (A) of the figure shows a graph showing the relationship between the change in magnification of the image image of the coin imaged by the imaging unit and the temperature, and (B) of the figure shows an image performed according to the temperature change. Each outline of the correction is shown.
In the graph shown in FIG. 6A, the horizontal axis represents the temperature, and the vertical axis represents the magnification of the image image. The magnification represents the image image when the reference temperature (25 ° C.) is 1. Magnification. Here, the image image is obtained by causing an LED (Light Emitting Diode) to emit light to the coin that has reached the imaging position and capturing the image with a CCD camera. Also, the reflected light from the coin is condensed on the light receiving surface of the CCD camera by a lens unit in which a plurality of plastic convex lenses are combined, and an image image of the coin is formed on the light receiving surface.
The graph shown in FIG. 6A is an actual measurement result of the relationship between temperature / magnification in a predetermined lens unit. The white circle indicates the maximum value (MAX), the black square indicates the minimum value (MIN), Each is shown.
Thus, the relationship between temperature / magnification is generally proportional, and the magnification of an image tends to increase linearly with increasing temperature. Specifically, each time the temperature increases by 10 ° C., the magnification increases by 0.5%, and every time the temperature decreases by 10 ° C., the magnification decreases by 0.5%. It has been found from actual measurements that the amount of variation in magnification does not depend on the initial magnification of the lens unit itself and does not depend on the distance from the imaging center position. Moreover, local magnification fluctuations and distortions were not observed.
Therefore, in the coin identifying device according to the present embodiment, the relationship between the temperature and the magnification of the image image is acquired in advance, and the image image is corrected based on the relationship between the temperature / magnification. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 5B, when the magnification of the
The coin discriminating apparatus according to the present embodiment stores the relationship between the temperature and the magnification (magnification information) (see (1) in the figure), and stores the magnification corresponding to the detected temperature at the time of image image acquisition. It was decided to obtain based on the magnification information (see (2) in the figure). Then, the coin image is corrected based on the acquired magnification (see (3) in the figure). Here, in the correction of the coin image, for example, a process of converting the size of the image image at each temperature into the size of the
In this way, by correcting the size of the image image that changes depending on the temperature based on the magnification information, the image image can be appropriately converted to the size at the reference temperature even when a temperature change occurs. it can. Therefore, according to the coin discriminating apparatus according to the present embodiment, even when a lens having a large characteristic change accompanying a temperature change, such as a plastic lens, is used, it is possible to perform stable coin discrimination against the temperature change. it can.
FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating an arrangement example of the coin identifying device according to the present embodiment. As shown in the figure, the coins to be conveyed are subjected to temporary denomination determination by passing through a magnetic sensor. And the image image about both surfaces of a coin is each acquired by passing the imaging part A provided in the upper surface of the conveyance path, and the imaging part B provided in the lower surface of the conveyance path.
Here, each imaging unit (imaging unit A and imaging unit B) has a transparent glass on the side of the coin to be conveyed, and emits a light-emitting body (for example, LED) (not shown) when the coin reaches the imaging position. At the same time, the reflected light from the coin is collected by the lens unit and imaged on the light receiving unit. In addition, although the result of temporary denomination determination by a magnetic sensor is used for denomination discrimination based on the image image imaged by each imaging part, this point shall be mentioned later.
FIG. 3 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of the
The
The
The
The
Here, a detailed configuration of the
Specifically, the
Irradiation light from the Low Angle LED is reflected by a mirror provided above the LED substrate, and reaches the coin at a small incident angle with respect to the coin surface, as shown by “Low Angle Optical Axis” shown in FIG. On the other hand, the light irradiated by the high angle LED is reflected by a mirror provided below the LED substrate, and reaches the coin at a large incident angle with respect to the coin surface as shown in the “High angle optical axis” shown in FIG.
In this way, by using Low Angle LED and High Angle LED, coins with a patterned edge like a domestic currency and coins with an unclear pattern edge like a gentle portrait in the euro currency, Each can be distinguished.
For example, in the case of a coin with an edge, it is possible to obtain an image reflecting a pattern with an edge by causing only the Low angle LED to emit light. Further, in the case of a coin with an unclear edge, it is possible to obtain an image that reflects a pattern with an unclear edge by causing only the high angle LED or both of the LEDs to emit light.
Thus, the irradiation light by each LED passes through the
On the camera substrate, the above-described
Here, the timing sensor is composed of a phototransistor, and detects that irradiation light from an LED (not shown) provided on the conveyance path surface opposite to the
Although FIG. 4 shows the case where the
For this reason, the temperature at the time of coin imaging is acquired by the
Returning to the description of FIG. 3, the
The
Here, an example of the
As shown in (1) of FIG. 5, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is ± 0 ° C., the magnification variation value is 0.0%. Further, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is + 10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. higher than the reference temperature, the magnification fluctuation value becomes + 0.5%. The magnification fluctuation value increases by 0.5%.
On the other hand, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is −10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. lower than the reference temperature, the magnification fluctuation value is −0.5%, and hereinafter, the temperature is 10 ° C. lower. Each time, the magnification fluctuation value decreases by 0.5%.
Note that (1) in FIG. 5 shows the case where the magnification fluctuation value for each temperature is included in the
As shown in (2) of FIG. 5, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is ± 0 ° C., the correction value (number of pixels) is zero. When the temperature difference from the reference temperature is + 10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. higher than the reference temperature, the correction value is +1 pixel. Increases by one pixel.
On the other hand, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is −10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. lower than the reference temperature, the correction value (number of pixels) is −1 pixel. As a result, the correction value decreases by one pixel.
For example, in the case of a 500 yen coin, if the diameter of the image image at the reference temperature is 200 pixels, the diameter of the image image is 201 pixels if the temperature is 10 ° C. higher than the reference temperature. When the temperature is 30 ° C. lower than the reference temperature, the diameter of the image is 197 pixels. In this way, when the correction value (number of pixels) is provided for each temperature, the table shown in (2) of FIG. 5 is prepared for each coin.

Returning to the description of FIG. 3, the description of the
The

Here, the detailed contents of the image diameter calculating process performed by the image
As shown in FIG. 6, it is assumed that a 500-yen coin is imaged in a state of being justified by the justifying mechanism. In addition, the figure shows an
Subsequently, the image
The
Next, FIG. 7 will be described. The “reference temperature (adjustment temperature)” in FIG. 7 shows the same diagram as FIG. 6 for comparison. FIG. 7A shows the case where the temperature is 30 ° C. lower than the reference temperature. (B) of the figure shows cases where the temperature is 30 ° C. higher than the reference temperature. In FIGS. 4A and 4B, the size of the coin image 7 at the reference temperature is indicated by a broken line for reference.
As shown in FIG. 5A, when the temperature is 30 ° C. lower than the reference temperature, according to FIG. 5A, the magnification of the image is 1.5% compared to the reference temperature. It will be low. For this reason, the image
Further, the coin right end detection start point Rs (A) and the coin right end detection end point Re (A) are also directed to the center position by 0.75% (1.5% / 2) from Rs and Re at the reference temperature. To move. And the distance of the detected coin right end R (A) and conveyance path end L (A) is calculated as an image diameter (A). Subsequently, the final image diameter is calculated by multiplying the calculated image diameter (A) by 100% / (100% -1.5%).
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 5B, when the temperature is 30 ° C. higher than the reference temperature, according to FIG. 5% higher. For this reason, the image
Further, the coin right end detection start point Rs (B) and the coin right end detection end point Re (B) are also separated from the center position by 0.75% (1.5% / 2) from Rs and Re at the reference temperature. Move in the direction. And the distance of the detected coin right end R (B) and conveyance path end L (B) is calculated as an image diameter (B). Subsequently, the final image diameter is calculated by multiplying the calculated image diameter (B) by 100% / (100% + 1.5%).
Returning to the description of FIG. 3, the determination
The
Here, polar coordinate conversion and image cutout processing performed by the
The circle shown in (1) of FIG. 8 represents a coin in the image image. As shown in the figure, with the coin center as the origin, the distance between the predetermined point in the coin and the origin is ρ, and the angle between the straight line connecting the origin and the predetermined point and the x axis is θ. When the polar coordinate conversion is performed, a rectangular region (see a rectangle with hatching in the figure) composed of the ρ axis / θ axis shown on the right side of the figure is obtained.
Here, the
Here, the
Here, an example of
Specifically, ρo at each temperature is obtained by rounding off a value calculated by “80 pixels (extraction outer diameter at temperature difference ± 0 ° C.)” × (100 + magnification fluctuation value / 2). As shown in the figure, the cut-out inner diameter (ρi) is fixed at 16 pixels regardless of the temperature change. In this manner, the
Returning to the description of FIG. 3, the
Here, the
The
Next, the processing procedure of the magnification determination process performed by the
Next, the processing procedure of the image diameter calculation process and the determination frame comparison process performed by the image
Then, the right end search start position and the right end search end position are determined based on the temporary denomination received from the denomination temporary determination unit 14c and the magnification received from the
Then, the image
Next, the processing procedure of the image cutout process and the determination process performed by the

Heretofore, the case of correcting the magnification of the image that fluctuates based on the temperature difference from the reference temperature has been described. However, the light emission time of the LEDs (Low Angle LED and High Angle LED) shown in FIG. The correction may be made based on the temperature difference.
FIG. 13 is a diagram illustrating an example of
As shown in the figure, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is ± 0 ° C., the LED light emission time correction value is zero. In addition, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is + 10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. higher than the reference temperature, the LED light emission time correction value is +5. The LED light emission time correction value increases by 5.
On the other hand, when the temperature difference from the reference temperature is −10 ° C., that is, when the temperature is 10 ° C. lower than the reference temperature, the LED light emission time correction value becomes −5. In addition, the LED light emission time correction value decreases by five.
As described above, by correcting the light emission time of the LED according to the temperature variation, it is possible to compensate for the characteristic of the LED in which the light emission amount decreases as the temperature rises by increasing the light emission time. Therefore, even if there is a temperature variation, the irradiation light to the coin can be kept stable and constant.
As described above, in this embodiment, the imaging unit acquires a coin image by condensing the reflected light by the lens unit, and the temperature sensor indicates the temperature at the time when the coin image is acquired. Magnification information indicating the relationship between the temperature at the time of acquisition and the magnification relative to the reference temperature is stored in the storage unit in advance for the magnification fluctuation of the coin image caused by the temperature characteristics of the lens unit, and the image diameter calculation unit and the image Since the cutout unit is configured to correct the coin image based on the detected temperature and magnification information at the time of acquisition, the case where a lens having a large characteristic change accompanying a temperature change such as a plastic lens is used. Even if it exists, the coin identification stable with respect to a temperature change can be performed.
As described above, the coin identification method and the coin identification device according to the present invention are useful when it is desired to perform stable coin identification with respect to a temperature change, and in particular, the lens characteristics change due to the temperature change like a plastic lens.
