Description
BACKGROUND OF THE
Conventionally, a plurality of LED array chips are arranged in the direction of the LED array, and enlarged and projected onto a photosensitive member with a positive lens in which the LED arrays of the respective LED array chips are arranged correspondingly, and the ends of adjacent LED array chips on the photosensitive member. An optical writing line head that forms images adjacent to each other at the same pitch as the pitch between the light emitting dots of the same LED array chip, and an optical reading line head with the optical path reversed. This is proposed in Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. H10-228707.
Further,
In these prior arts, when the angle of view of each positive lens is increased, the peripheral light amount decrease is increased according to the
In addition, when a plurality of light emitting dot arrays are arranged in parallel in the sub-scanning direction, the width of the optical writing line head in the sub-scanning direction increases as the lens diameter of the optical system increases, making it difficult to reduce the size of the image forming apparatus.
The present invention has been made in view of such problems of the prior art, and an object of the present invention is to provide a plurality of light emitting elements in a row corresponding to each lens system of a plurality of positive lens systems arranged in an array. In the optical writing line head in which is arranged, the lens diameter of each lens system is made as small as possible to reduce the size of the line head and the image forming apparatus using the same.
Another object of the present invention is to prevent unevenness based on the positional deviation of the light emitting dot image from occurring even if the writing surface varies in the optical axis direction.

Before describing the optical system of the line head of the present invention in detail, the arrangement of the light emitting elements and the light emission timing will be briefly described.

The memory table 10 in FIG. 5 is stored with being inverted in the main scanning direction with respect to the light emitting element numbers in FIG. 4. In FIG. 5, among the image data stored in the memory table 10 of the line buffer, first image data (1, 3, 5, 5) corresponding to the light emitting elements on the upstream side (first row) of the

By the way, in the present invention, it is assumed that the
Now, in order to reduce the diameter of the
Hereinafter, the conditions under which the aperture stop diameter constituting each
Here, terms are defined. FIG. 13 corresponds to a group of imaging spots 8 (corresponding to the image of the light emitter block 4) 80, which is an image of the
The
Based on a paraxial expression before and after the second lens L2, a condition is obtained in which the diameter of the
Before consideration, the signs of the parameters are defined as shown in FIG. That is, the angle θ measured from the optical axis OO ′ is positive in the clockwise direction, the image height h measured from the optical axis OO ′ is positive up, and the distance on the optical axis OO ′ is from left to right ( The direction in which the light travels is positive, and the lower case letter “in” after the sign means the parameter on the object side, and the lower case letter “out” after the sign means the parameter on the image plane side.
θ2out=θ2in +h2 /f2 ・・・(12)
θi =θ2in +h2 /f2 ・・・(13)
θi =0+(D2 /2)/f2 ・・・(14)
f2 =D2 /(2θi ) ・・・(15)
First, referring to FIG. 15, when the effective diameter of the lens is considered as the maximum light ray passing height on the lens, in order for the diameter of the
θ 2out = θ 2in + h 2 / f 2 (12)
Since the lens system (microlens) 5 is image side telecentric (the
θ i = θ 2in + h 2 / f 2 (13)
Here, since the incident light is parallel to the optical axis OO ′, θ 2in = 0. The lens passes through the height of the outermost rays so effective diameter (radius) of the lens, the second lens L2 the effective diameter as D 2, the formula (13),
θ i = 0 + (D 2 /2) /
Solving for f 2 ,
f 2 = D 2 / (2θ i ) (15)
Expression (15) is a conditional expression in which the incident light beam on the second lens L2 is parallel to the optical axis OO ′, that is, a condition in which the diameter of the
When f 2 is smaller than the right side of the equation (15), the angle θ 2in formed by the optical axis of the incident light beam from the equation (13) to the second lens L2 is negative. This means that the light beam travels away from the optical axis OO ′, and the diameter of the

2θi f2 ≦D2 ・・・(19)
f2 ≦(mWi −α)/(2θi ) ・・・(21)
D2 /2≧Wi /2+Si θi ・・・(22)
D2 ≧Wi +2Si θi ・・・(23)
Although the lens pitch in the lens array is expressed as (mW i ) (FIG. 13), the lens array (lens array) cannot be arranged unless this is larger than the effective diameter of the second lens L2.
mW i ≧ D 2 (17)
In manufacturing the lens array, a clearance may be required for the effective diameter of the
mW i ≧ D 2 + α (18)
Solving Equation (16) and Equation (18) for D 2 respectively,

D 2 ≦ mW i −α (20)
When Expression (19) and Expression (20) are connected via D 2 and arranged for f 2 ,
f 2 ≦ (mW i −α) / (2θ i ) (21)
Next, the second lens effective diameter D 2 will be considered. The lens effective radius must be larger than the light ray height on the lens of the light beam that converges on the end pixel of the image
D 2/2 ≧ W i / 2 + S i θ i ··· (22)
Double both sides of equation (22)
D 2 ≧ W i + 2S i θ i (23)
When the equation (23) and the equation (20) derived earlier are plotted as the horizontal axis W i and the vertical axis D 2 , the result is as shown in FIG. .
Wi ≧2Si θi /(m−1)+α/(m−1) ・・・(24)
When the intersection of the two straight lines in FIG. 16 represented by Expression (20) and Expression (23) is obtained, and the range of W i corresponding to the shaded portion is obtained,
W i ≧ 2S i θ i / (m−1) + α / (m−1) (24)
Formula (24) is a condition for arranging the second lenses L2 in a row, and if this is not satisfied, the effective ranges of adjacent lenses interfere with each other.
By satisfying Expression (24) and determining the second lens focal length f 2 according to Expression (21), the diameter of the
As is apparent from the optical path diagram of FIG. 17, regarding the arrangement of the first lens L1, the effective diameter of the first lens L1 becomes larger than the diameter of the
If the arrangement of the first lens L1 is determined, the focal length of the first lens L1 and the light source surface (light emitter array, object surface) 1 to the first are adjusted so that the magnification β of the optical system (microlens) 5 becomes a desired value. The distance to the lens L1 is uniquely determined.
Furthermore, it can be seen from FIG. 16 that the image plane pixel group width W i may be reduced in order to make the second lens effective diameter D 2 as small as possible. The W i in the range of formula (24), and, with respect to D 2 obtained from the actual ray tracing by setting the minimum value that satisfies the formula (20), it is possible to suppress the second lens effective diameter D 2 . Ideally, the second lens effective diameter D 2 is the smallest when W i is determined by the following equation obtained by connecting equation (24) with an equal sign.
Wi =2Si θi /(m−1)+α/(m−1) ・・・(24)’
W i = 2S i θ i / (m−1) + α / (m−1) (24) ′
Next, as shown in FIG. 18, when the second lens L2 constituting the
As shown in FIG. 19, the outermost ray passing height h 2 of the light beam that converges on the end pixel of the image

=Wi /2+d2'θi +et2θb /n2
=Wi /2+d2'θi +et2θi /n2
=Wi /2+(d2'+et2/n2 )θi ・・・(25)
h 2 = W i / 2 + d 2 'θ i + et 2 θ a
= W i / 2 + d 2 'θ i + et 2 θ b / n 2
= W i / 2 + d 2 'θ i + et 2 θ i / n 2
= W i / 2 + (d 2 '+ et 2 / n 2 ) θ i (25)
Here, d 2 'is the object of the second lens the distance from the image side of the plane to the
D2 ≧Wi +2(d2'+et2/n2 )θi ・・・(26)
Wi ≧2(d2'+et2/n2 )θi /(m−1)+α/(m−1)・・・(27)
From D 2 ≧ 2h 2

Comparing equation (26) and equation (23), it can be seen that S i corresponds to (d 2 '+ et 2 / n 2 ). Applying this to equation (24) and organizing it,
W i ≧ 2 (d 2 ′ + et 2 / n 2 ) θ i / (m−1) + α / (m−1) (27)
It becomes. When the second lens L2 is convex-plano thick lens, the conditions for the diameter of the

Next, an embodiment of an optical writing line head to which the above principle of the present invention is applied will be described.
20 is a partially cutaway perspective view showing the configuration of the optical writing line head of this embodiment, and FIG. 21 is a sectional view taken along the sub-scanning direction. FIG. 22 is a plan view showing the arrangement of the light emitter array and the microlens array in this case. Further, FIG. 23 is a diagram showing a correspondence relationship between one microlens and a corresponding light emitter block.
In this embodiment, as in the case of FIGS. 4 and 7, four light emitting

The positive lens L1 is arranged on the surface side of the
As described above, the lens array of the

The above embodiment is an optical
By the way, in the above description, as shown in FIGS. 7 and 22, the
