Description
実施例1として、本実施例で用いられる遮光領域7の詳細を図5、図6に示す。図5は、図4のSA1(中心側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7の拡大図、図6は、図4のSA2(エッジ側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7の拡大図である。図5、図6の(A)は上面図、(B)は断面図である。本実施例の遮光領域7は、拡散板3を複数の山形形状が連なるプリズム形状に加工したものであり、中心部と周辺部で山の大きさ(幅)の異なる。また、各山の左右の直線(稜線)は等しい長さで形成されている。
次に、実施例2として、遮光領域7の他の例を示す。図7は、図4のSA1(中心側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7の拡大図、図8は、図4のSA2(エッジ側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7の拡大図である。本実施例では、各山の左右の稜線の長さが異なるように形成されている。中心側が長く、周辺側が短い。
次に、実施例3として、遮光領域7の他の例を図9に示す。上記実施例1,2では、蛍光管に鉛直方向の断面のみが山形のプリズムであったが、本実施例では、蛍光管の鉛直方向と平行方向の2方向の断面で山形形状を持つプリズムである。
次に、実施例4として、遮光領域7の他の例を図10、図11に示す。上記実施例1〜3では、プリズム状に加工する例を示したが、本実施例では、アルミなどの反射パターン8を拡散板3上に蒸着で形成し、反射パターン8の面積階調により透過率の位置分布を制御するものである。ここで、反射パターン8は、反射率の高いものであれば、その材質は問わない。図10は、SA1(中心側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7、図11は、SA2(エッジ側蛍光管上)の遮光領域7である。SA1(中心側蛍光管上)で幅の広い反射パターン8が多く形成され、SA2(エッジ側蛍光管上)で幅の狭い反射パターン8が多く形成することで、中心側蛍光管上SA1とエッジ側蛍光管上SA2で透過率を変えることができる。
本実施例の構成を図12に示す。本実施例では、拡散板3と光源5の間に、新規に中間板9を形成し、この中間板9上に遮光領域7を形成した。中間板9自体は、透明度の高い材質(アクリル板や、全光線透過率の高い拡散板など)で形成され、且つ、拡散板3と光源5からは離間して配置される。拡散板3の全光線透過率T1と中間板9の遮光領域7以外の全光線透過率T2の関係は、T2>T1の関係となるようにする。具体的には、T1は50〜60%、T2は70%程度である。これは、光源と光源の中間において、筐体4内の反射シート6で反射する光を出来るだけ中間板9から出射するためである。遮光領域7の形状は、上記実施例1〜4で示した構成が適用可能である。また、中間板9を光源5に近接出来れば出来るほど、遮光領域7が光源5に近いため、光源5に近いところである程度の均一化が行われ、且つ、中間板9と拡散板3間で更なる均一化が行われる。例えば、直径16mmのHCFLの場合、蛍光管と中間板9の間隔が3mmまで近接できれば、各遮光領域7の透過率分布は等しくても良い。ただし、本実施例では、中間板9と拡散板3の間に、中間板9である程度均一化された光を広げるため(遠方出射させるため)、ある程度の間隔を開けることが必要である。具体的は、直径16mmのHCFLの場合、10mm以上の間隔が必要である。

Claims (2)
- 液晶パネルと、
前記液晶パネルの表示面と反対の側に配置されるバックライトユニットとを備える液晶表示装置であって、
前記バックライトユニットは、
筐体と、
前記筐体内に配置される複数の長尺状の光源と、
前記複数の光源と前記液晶パネル間に配置される拡散板を備え、
前記拡散板は、前記複数の光源の各光源上に相当する位置に複数の山形形状が連なる凹凸を有し、
それぞれの前記山形形状は、前記光源の長手軸に直交する断面および前記光源の長手軸に平行な断面が山形になり、
前記光源の長手軸に直交する断面において、前記複数の山形形状のうち、中央部に位置する前記山形形状は、周辺部に位置する前記山形形状よりも、前記山形の幅が小さくなるように形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 前記光源は、熱陰極蛍光管(HCFL)であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
