Description
The present invention relates to an optical element fixing device, and more particularly, to an optical element fixing device capable of holding an optical element at a predetermined position of a housing for an optical module with high accuracy and a method for manufacturing the same.
Conventionally, in the field of optoelectronics such as optical communication and optical measurement, a light source such as a semiconductor laser, an electro-optical element having an optical waveguide formed on a dielectric crystal such as lithium niobate, and an optical fiber are mutually connected using a lens. Optical coupling is performed.
However, in such a
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and it is difficult for the pedestal to be displaced or distorted due to the stress caused by the adhesive, and the optical element placed on the housing is held at a predetermined position with high accuracy. An object of the present invention is to provide an optical element fixing device and a method for manufacturing the same.

The optical element fixing device according to a third aspect of the present invention is the optical element fixing device according to the second aspect, wherein the means is a part of the bottom surface of the pedestal that is partially missing from the side along the side where the adhesive is disposed. It is the recessed part made to be characterized by the above-mentioned.
The optical element fixing device according to a fourth aspect of the present invention is the optical element fixing device according to the second aspect, wherein the means is a convex portion arranged on a side where the adhesive is arranged on the bottom surface of the pedestal. To do.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the optical element fixing device according to the first to fourth aspects, the inclined surface is a flat surface.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the optical element fixing device according to the first to fifth aspects, the optical element fixing device has at least two pedestals.
According to a seventh aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method for manufacturing an optical element fixing device comprising at least an optical element holder for holding an optical element, a pedestal having an inclined surface in contact with the optical element holder, and a housing for mounting the pedestal. A bottom surface of the pedestal in contact with the housing has a rectangular shape, and an adhesive is disposed substantially evenly in a region in which two opposing sides are respectively included on the bottom surface. The optical element holder is held by a positioning device and placed at a predetermined position, the inclined surface of the pedestal is brought into contact with the optical element holder, the pedestal, the optical element holder, the pedestal, and the housing A step of temporarily fixing the optical element holder with an adhesive, a step of releasing the holding of the optical element holder by the positioning device, and in the region, the base, the optical element holder, and Characterized by comprising the step of applying to the fixed substantially symmetrically with adhesive and the said base housing.
An optical element fixing device according to the present invention includes at least an optical element holder for holding an optical element, a pedestal having an inclined surface that comes into contact with the optical element holder, and a housing for mounting the pedestal, and the pedestal is in contact with the housing. The bottom surface has a square shape, and the pedestal is fixed to the housing by arranging the adhesive substantially symmetrically only on a pair of two opposing sides of the bottom surface.
According to such a configuration, the adhesive is in a state where it is divided into a pair of two opposing sides on the bottom surface of the pedestal and is arranged independently. Therefore, drying proceeds in an independent state on the two sides, and the stress generated when the base and the casing are bonded on each side works in a direction to cancel each other. Therefore, the stress that actually affects the pedestal is minimized. Therefore, according to the present invention, the problem that the pedestal is displaced or distorted due to the stress caused by bonding the pedestal and the casing through the adhesive is remarkably suppressed, so that the optical element can be obtained as desired. It is possible to provide an optical element fixing device that can be held in position with high accuracy and a method for manufacturing the same.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. However, the present invention is not limited thereto, and various modifications can be made without departing from the gist of the present invention.
FIG. 1 is a perspective view schematically showing a first embodiment of an optical

Each will be described in detail below.
Examples of the optical element 1 include a lens and a mirror. The lens is, for example, a condensing lens, and a spherical lens, an aspheric lens, a gradient index lens (GRIN lens), or the like can be used.
The optical element holder 2 holds the optical element 1 and holds the optical element 1 in a predetermined position by being bonded and fixed to the base 3.
When there are two pedestals 3, the shape of the optical element holder 2 is not particularly limited. Moreover, it is preferable to provide so that it may be located in the middle between the bases 3 so that the stress by an optical element holder may apply to the bases 3 equally.
When there is one pedestal 3, the optical element holder 2 is preferably cylindrical. In the present invention, after the optical element holder 2 is positioned, the optical element holder 2 is temporarily fixed with an instantaneous adhesive, and then finally fixed with, for example, an epoxy resin adhesive. It is possible to bond the holder 2 with high positional accuracy.

Thus, in order to apply the same amount of the adhesive 5, it is preferable to use a dispenser or the like because it can be easily performed with good reproducibility.
Further, if the applied adhesive 5 moves from the applied portion, the adhesive 5 enters the inside or other side from the region including the two

The pedestal preferably has a flat inclined surface. If the inclined surface of the pedestal is flat, it is easy to fix with an adhesive or a YAG laser on the adhesive surface with the optical element holder. That is, when the inclined surface of the pedestal is a curved surface, the opening area above the bonding surface between the pedestal and the optical element holder is reduced. For this reason, there is no problem in fixing the pedestal and the optical element holder with an adhesive, but when fixing with a YAG laser, it is difficult to irradiate the fixing surface with the YAG laser because the opening area is small.
When the inclined surface of the pedestal is a flat surface, the shape of the pedestal is, for example, a triangular prism as shown in FIGS. When the shape of the pedestal is a triangular prism, it is preferable that the long side portion of the triangle is the bottom surface of the pedestal and is bonded and fixed to the housing. Since a large bonding area with the housing can be obtained, the pedestal can be more stably fixed to the housing, and the stress caused by the optical element holder 2 can be dispersed over a wide range. Further, the angle formed by the hypotenuse of the triangular prism can be appropriately adjusted in consideration of the fixing position of the optical element holder.
When the inclined surface is a plane, the shape of the pedestal is not limited to the triangular prism shape, and may be a trapezoidal shape, for example.

When a light (ultraviolet) curable adhesive is used as an adhesive for temporary fixing, positioning the equipment after applying the adhesive, curing the adhesive by irradiating curing light (ultraviolet light) It is preferable to carry out.
Thereafter, the arm α of the positioning device is removed from the optical element holder 2.
