Description
The present invention relates to a quantum arithmetic circuit mainly applied to a quantum computer (quantum computer) composed of a Josephson coupling system, a quantum repeater, or the like.
Although there are several candidates for the quantum two-level system, solid-state devices are promising from the viewpoint of qubit integration. In particular, a qubit device using a superconducting device leads other solid devices greatly due to its coherence and the like.
As an example of a superconducting qubit device for realizing quantum computation, for example, a basic configuration of a superconducting flux qubit device as shown in FIG. 2 (see Non-Patent Document 1) can be cited. In this superconducting flux qubit device, when an external magnetic flux in the vicinity of ½ of the quantized magnetic flux is applied to the
By the way, in a quantum calculation, a logical operation using 2 bits is indispensable. Therefore, in order to realize a quantum computer, it is necessary to provide an interaction between qubit elements by some method. In order to construct a qubit arithmetic circuit (quantum arithmetic circuit) by integrating qubit elements, a conditional operation gate between two qubit elements is required by introducing an interaction between the qubit elements. Become.
For example, in a qubit arithmetic circuit (see Non-Patent Document 2) in which the superconducting magnetic flux qubit elements of Non-Patent Document 1 are coupled, as shown in FIG. By sharing a part of the loop, the magnetic coupling between the qubit elements is realized.
Several other couplings between such qubit devices have been proposed. In another qubit arithmetic circuit (see Non-Patent Document 3), as shown in FIG. 4, two superconducting flux qubits are used. A large Josephson
Further, as shown in FIG. 5, the above-mentioned Non-Patent Document 1 includes a superconducting transformer including a superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element (SQUID) 504 between superconducting magnetic
In a qubit arithmetic circuit (see Non-Patent Document 4) according to still another technique related to this, as shown in FIG. 6, two superconducting loops including a superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element (SQUID) 604 are symmetrical. And a
In other qubit arithmetic circuits (see Non-Patent Document 6), as shown in FIG. 8, a superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element (SQUID) 803 that is current-biased is provided between the superconducting magnetic
Here, in any qubit arithmetic circuit, it is necessary to maintain coherence for a long time for each qubit element. Specifically, it is known that the coherence of a qubit device greatly depends on the bias condition, and a long coherence time can be obtained at an optimum operating point at which 1/2 of the quantized magnetic flux is applied. (See Non-Patent Document 7).
Further, a qubit arithmetic circuit similar to Non-Patent Document 6 is also proposed in Non-Patent Document 8. Specifically, Non-Patent Document 8 describes a superconducting magnetic flux quantum biased by a direct current between two qubit devices having different characteristic frequencies in order to induce a coupling between the two qubit devices parametrically. A qubit arithmetic circuit provided with an interference element (SQUID) is clarified. In this case, the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device (SQUID) is dc-biased with a bias current selected in relation to the critical current, and when the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device (SQUID) is biased by a current bias. The nonlinear inductance obtained is used. Further, in the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device (SQUID), a microwave magnetic field pulse having a frequency equal to the difference frequency between the characteristic frequencies of the two superconducting magnetic flux qubit devices is applied to the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device (SQUID). By applying, coupling between the two qubit elements is induced.
In the case of the qubit arithmetic circuits according to Non-Patent Documents 1 to 8 described above, there are technical problems in coupling between qubit elements.
Specifically, in the case of the qubit arithmetic circuits according to
Of Patent Documents 1 and 5 showing the qubit arithmetic circuit shown in FIG. 5 and FIG. 7, Non-Patent Document 1 describes a superconducting flux quantum interference element for turning off the interaction between qubit elements. When a magnetic flux that is half of the quantized magnetic flux is applied to the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element, the critical current of the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element becomes zero, and the Josephson junction is switched to a finite voltage state, resulting in dissipation and coherent magnetic coupling. Disappear. As a result, the critical current of the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device becomes too small. On the other hand, in Non-Patent Document 5, due to the fact that the superconducting flux quantum interference element is arranged in parallel with the superconducting transformer loop, the inductance inside the superconducting flux quantum interference element is changed by changing the magnetic flux inside the superconducting flux quantum interference element. Even if it is changed, the coupling inductance between the qubit elements cannot be completely reduced to zero, and in any of these cases, the coupling (interaction) between the qubit elements cannot be completely turned off (second problem) Problem).
Furthermore, in the case of the qubit arithmetic circuit according to
On the other hand, in the case of the qubit arithmetic circuit according to Non-Patent Document 6 shown in FIG. 8, in order to completely turn off the coupling (interaction) between qubit elements, direct magnetic coupling between adjacent qubit elements is performed. It utilizes the coupling and the canceling phenomenon of magnetic coupling via a superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device sandwiched between them. Due to this, in order to utilize direct magnetic coupling between adjacent qubit elements, the distance between qubit elements must be reduced, and as a result, between control signals. Crosstalk cannot be suppressed. For this reason, when controlling the state of individual qubit devices or controlling the interaction between qubit devices, the control current that flows is cross-coupled to other qubit devices and superconducting flux quantum interference devices. There is a problem (fourth problem) that it cannot be prevented.
In addition, when the technique of Non-Patent Document 7 related to the qubit arithmetic circuit shown in FIG. 8 is introduced, it is caused by the current that flows in the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element in order to control the coupling (interaction). Since the change of the current flowing there changes the magnetic flux applied to the qubit devices on both sides, the bias point of the qubit device changes when controlling the coupling (interaction) between the qubit devices, and the qubit device There is a problem (fifth problem) that the coherence time of the qubit element is shortened by the deviation of the operating point from the optimum condition.
Furthermore, when the technique of Non-Patent Document 8 is introduced, if a current related to the critical current is passed through the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference element (SQUID) to control the coupling (interaction), the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference is performed. Since the noise current entering the element (SQUID) flows asymmetrically in the left and right branches, it is magnetically coupled to the qubit element and disturbs the coherence. As a result, the coherence of the qubit device is impaired by the strong coupling between the noise entering from the outside through the control line for controlling the coupling (interaction) between the qubit devices and the qubit device. There is a problem (sixth problem).
An object of the present invention is to solve such problems, and the technical problem is that a qubit coupling method, a quantum operation circuit, and a qubit coupling method for variably coupling qubit elements having different characteristic frequencies, and It is to provide a variable coupler.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a qubit variable coupling method capable of appropriately variably controlling the coupling interaction between qubit elements while maintaining a long coherence time, a quantum operation circuit using the same, and a variable coupler. It is to provide.

In addition, according to the present invention, in the above quantum operation circuit, the first qubit device and the second qubit device are arranged adjacent to each other and biased by ½ of the quantization magnetic flux, and the characteristic frequency is Different superconducting flux qubit devices, the coupling qubit device having a predetermined number of Josephson couplings to form a superconducting loop and a microwave magnetic field as a microwave pulse to turn the coupling on and off A quantum arithmetic circuit that is a coupling superconducting flux qubit device having a characteristic frequency different from that of the superconducting flux qubit device that induces coupling between two superconducting flux qubit devices by applying a pulse is obtained.

According to the qubit variable coupling method of the present invention, the first qubit element and the second qubit element arranged adjacent to each other are coupled by a coupling qubit element (each qubit element has a characteristic frequency). The interaction between the qubit devices is variably controlled parametrically by applying a microwave pulse to the coupling qubit device (coupling is turned on and off), so that each qubit device maintains a long coherence time and maintains a long coherence time. It becomes possible to accurately and variably control the coupling interaction between the bit elements. Also in the quantum operation circuit to which the qubit coupling method of the present invention is applied, a variable coupler having a coupling qubit element (having a predetermined number of Josephson couplings to form a superconducting loop) is provided.
The qubit coupling method of the present invention will be described in principle. When the first qubit element and the second qubit element are coupled, the first qubit element and the second qubit element are coupled. A control step of variably controlling the interaction when coupled by the qubit device for use in a parametric manner by applying a microwave pulse to the qubit device for coupling. In this control stage, the coupling between the first qubit element and the second qubit element is turned on and off by the coupling qubit element.
That is, the present invention is characterized in that the coupling qubit element is variably controlled between the first and second qubit elements in a parametric manner without causing a current bias current to flow to the DC enemy.
The first qubit device and the second qubit device are composed of superconducting magnetic flux qubit devices having mutually different characteristic frequencies and arranged adjacent to each other. The first and second qubit devices have a predetermined number of Josephson junctions, and are each biased with ½ of the quantized magnetic flux.
On the other hand, the coupling qubit element has a predetermined number of Josephson couplings, forms a superconducting loop, and has a characteristic frequency different from that of the first and second qubit elements. In addition, a microwave magnetic field pulse is applied to the coupling qubit device as a microwave pulse in order to turn on and off the coupling between the first and second qubit devices, whereby two superconducting flux qubits The elements are coupled. In this case, it is desirable that the frequency of the microwave magnetic field pulse applied to the coupling qubit device has a frequency equal to the difference between the characteristic frequencies of the first and second qubit devices.
Hereinafter, the above-described superconducting flux qubit variable coupling method will be described in more detail. The first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device are biased at ½ of the quantized magnetic flux, which is an optimum bias point for maintaining coherence by a static magnetic field applied from the outside. The control of the 1-bit state is performed by applying a microwave magnetic field pulse that resonates with the characteristic frequencies Δ1 and Δ2 of the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device, respectively. The The characteristic frequencies Δ1 and Δ2 of the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device arranged adjacent to each other are differently detuned from each other. On the other hand, the characteristic frequency Δ3 of the coupling superconducting flux qubit device provided between the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit is also far from the characteristic frequencies Δ1 and Δ2. ing. This coupling superconducting flux qubit element is sufficiently larger than the thermal energy corresponding to the ambient temperature and always in the ground state, and is biased with a magnetic flux slightly deviating from 1/2 of the quantized magnetic flux, Unlike the superconducting magnetic flux quantum interference device (SQUID) shown in Non-Patent Documents 6 and 8, it is not biased in a direct current by a bias current.
Here, the basic operation when the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device having different characteristic frequencies are coupled by the coupling superconducting flux qubit device will be described. There is a magnetic coupling between the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device even when no microwave magnetic field pulse is applied from the outside. It has a frequency difference of | Δ1−Δ2 | indicating a large detuning. Therefore, energy is not transferred between the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device, and the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device are not transferred. The coupling interaction between the elements (qubit elements) is effectively turned off. In addition, since no bias current is applied to the coupling superconducting magnetic flux qubit element, there is no adverse effect due to intrusion of noise current associated with the bias current.
Next, in order to turn on the coupling between the first superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device (qubit device), a microwave magnetic field pulse having a frequency difference | Δ1−Δ2 | May be applied to the superconducting flux qubit device for coupling. At this time, the inductance of the coupling superconducting magnetic flux qubit element is a function of the magnetic flux, and changes in vibration by the applied microwave magnetic field pulse, so that the first is proportional to the intensity of the microwave magnetic field pulse. The coupling between the superconducting flux qubit device and the second superconducting flux qubit device is induced parametrically.
Hereinafter, embodiments of a quantum operation circuit including a variable coupler to which the qubit coupling method of the present invention is applied will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 shows a basic configuration and characteristics of a quantum arithmetic circuit including a variable coupler according to an embodiment to which the qubit variable coupling method of the present invention is applied.
