Description
The present invention relates to a degassing hollow fiber membrane module and a degassing device for removing dissolved gas in a liquid, and is particularly suitable for improving the printing stability of an ink jet printer.
Gas is usually dissolved in the liquid, and bubbles are generated in the liquid when the liquid is heated or decompressed. This bubble may cause harmful effects in various situations, and a method for positively removing dissolved gas in a liquid has been proposed.
For example, in an ink used for an ink jet printer or the like, it is necessary to remove the dissolved gas from the ink because the dissolved gas contained in the ink adversely affects the resolution and clarity of the printed matter. It is known that a hollow fiber membrane is used (Patent Document 1).
In the deaeration method using these hollow fiber membranes, the ink is poured into the hollow portions of a plurality of gas permeable hollow fiber membranes, and the outer peripheral portion of the hollow fiber membranes is kept at a reduced pressure, so that dissolved gas is discharged from the ink. Has been removed.
The ink degassing method using a film is very excellent because it can remove dissolved gas with high efficiency without deteriorating the ink.
Inkjet printers are available in various types and sizes from general households to industrial use. In particular, industrial inkjet printers that print on large-format recording media require a large amount of ink supply during printing, so an ink supply source is installed separately from the printer and ink is supplied to the print head via a tube. The technique to take is taken. Even in such a large ink jet printer, it is important to remove dissolved gas in the ink for printing stability, and installation of a deaeration mechanism in front of the print head has been proposed (Patent Document 2).
It is conceivable to apply the above-described method using a membrane to the ink deaeration of this large inkjet printer and incorporate an existing hollow fiber membrane module into the printer device. However, the ink degassing hollow fiber membrane module described in
In addition, the conventional hollow fiber membrane module for degassing ink is relatively large because it is used in the ink manufacturing process with few restrictions on the module size, and is not necessarily suitable for incorporation as part of a printer. It wasn't.
The present invention has been made in view of such a situation, and an object of the present invention is to provide a degassing hollow fiber membrane module and a degassing apparatus using the same, which can be suitably incorporated in an ink supply line of an ink jet printer. It is what.

That is, the gist of the present invention is that a plurality of gas permeable hollow fiber membranes are housed in a cylindrical module case, and both ends of the hollow fiber membranes are bonded and fixed with an adhesive, and are attached to one end of the cylindrical module case. The cylindrical module case has a liquid inlet that communicates with the hollow portion of the hollow fiber membrane, and a liquid outlet that communicates with the hollow portion of the hollow fiber membrane at the other end . A hollow fiber membrane module for degassing having a length L ratio (L / R) of 2 or less, and water having a water temperature of 25 ° C. and a dissolved oxygen concentration of 8 mg / L is passed through the liquid inlet at 50 ml / min. And the pressure between the liquid inlet and the liquid outlet when the dissolved oxygen concentration of the water flowing out from the liquid outlet is 1 mg / L or less when the outer periphery of the hollow fiber membrane is kept under reduced pressure. loss 40mmH 2 O It is a hollow fiber membrane module for degassing that is under.
The gist of the present invention is a degassing device having the degassing hollow fiber membrane module, a liquid feeding mechanism for feeding a liquid to be degassed, and a pressure reducing mechanism for removing dissolved gas in the liquid. is there.
According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a degassing hollow fiber membrane module and a degassing device that have sufficient degassing performance, low pressure loss, good bubble removal, and can be downsized.
Hereinafter, the degassing hollow fiber membrane module of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 shows a schematic cross-sectional view of a degassing hollow fiber membrane module as an example of the present invention. A plurality of gas permeable
FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view of a degassing hollow fiber membrane module showing another example of the present invention. A plurality of gas permeable
Here, in order to remove the gas dissolved in the liquid, in the case of the degassing hollow fiber membrane module shown in FIG. 2, the liquid introduced from the
On the other hand, in the example of the degassing hollow fiber membrane module shown in FIG. 1, as shown in FIG. 4, the module is installed in the
The
The gas permeable
As the gas permeable
Examples of the polymer material constituting the non-porous layer include a silicon rubber polymer having excellent gas permeability, a silicon rubber polymer such as polydimethylsiloxane, a copolymer of silicon and polycarbonate, and poly-4-methyl. Pentene-1, polyolefin polymers such as low density polyethylene, fluorine-containing polymers such as perfluoroalkyl polymers, cellulose polymers such as ethyl cellulose, polyphenylene oxide, poly-4-vinylpyridine, urethane polymers, and copolymers of these polymer materials Alternatively, a blend polymer or the like can be used.
Moreover, as a polymer material which comprises the above-mentioned porous layer, fluorine-type polymers, such as polyethylene, a polypropylene, poly 3-methylbutene-1, poly 4-methylpentene-1, poly vinylidene fluoride, polytetrafluoroethylene, etc. Polymers such as polymer, polystyrene, polyetheretherketone, polyetherketone can be used.
When a composite hollow fiber membrane is used as the gas permeable
The adhesive 3 functions as a member that hermetically partitions the liquid flow channel side and the exhausted gas flow channel side while fixing both ends of the hollow fiber membrane while maintaining the open state of the plurality of hollow fiber membranes. As the adhesive 3, one obtained by curing a liquid resin such as an epoxy resin, an unsaturated epoxy resin, or a polyurethane resin, or one obtained by melting and cooling and solidifying a polyolefin or the like can be used.
Further, the hollow fiber membrane is preferably filled into the
As described above, for example, when considering incorporating a degassing hollow fiber membrane module into an ink supply line of an ink jet printer, it is necessary to suppress pressure loss while suppressing the module size. Here, the pressure loss generally increases in proportion to the length of the flow path and the square of the flow velocity, and is inversely proportional to the tube diameter when the hollow fiber membrane is regarded as a tube.
Although the inner diameter of the hollow fiber membrane has been described above, it is conceivable to increase the filling amount of the yarn in order to reduce the flow rate when the liquid flows at a constant flow rate. Furthermore, pressure loss can be suppressed by shortening the flow path. On the other hand, in order to reduce the module size, it is necessary to optimize these combinations.
As a result of intensive studies, the inventors have made the ratio (L / R) of the length L of the cylindrical module case to the inner diameter R of the cylindrical module case 2 (L / R) as shown in FIG. It has been found that a hollow fiber membrane module for deaeration having sufficient deaeration performance, a low pressure loss and a reduced size can be obtained. L / R is preferably 1.5 or less, and more preferably 1.3 or less.
On the other hand, if the L / R is too low, it is difficult to secure an area of an effective film portion that is not fixed with an adhesive for securing the deaeration performance of the liquid. For this reason, L / R is preferably 0.5 or more.
Further, in order to mount the degassing hollow fiber membrane module of the present invention on an ink jet printer, it is preferable to suppress the total length of the module. Specifically, the length L of the cylindrical module case is set to 150 mm or less. Is preferred. More preferably, it is 100 mm or less, More preferably, it is 80 mm or less.
Furthermore, as illustrated in FIG. 2, the diameter of the hollow fiber membrane module can be suppressed by suppressing the diameter of the O-ring 8 that seals the
The hollow fiber membrane module for degassing of the present invention can efficiently degas a low flow rate liquid with a low pressure loss. Specifically, a water temperature of 25 ° C., dissolved oxygen from the liquid inlet When water with a concentration of 8 mg / L is passed at 50 ml / min and the outer periphery of the hollow fiber membrane is kept under reduced pressure, the dissolved oxygen concentration of water flowing out from the liquid outlet is 1 mg / L or less. The pressure loss between the liquid inlet and the liquid outlet can be 40 mmH 2 O or less. By achieving this performance, the degassing hollow fiber membrane module of the present invention can be suitably incorporated into an ink supply line of an ink jet printer.
When the dissolved oxygen concentration of the water flowing out from the liquid outlet is further set to 0.5 mg / L or less, more preferably 0.2 mg / L or less, printing performance with higher resolution tends to be imparted to the inkjet printer.
Further, by further reducing the pressure loss between the liquid inlet and the liquid outlet to 20 mmH 2 0 or less, more preferably 10 mmH 2 0 or less, it is possible to efficiently perform deaeration at a lower flow rate. When the degassing hollow fiber membrane module is incorporated in an ink jet printer, the ink flow rate tends to be controlled more precisely.
The cap 4 having a liquid inlet and / or a liquid outlet connected to at least one end of the
This is because the inner surface of the cap 4 has a taper so that the gas such as air that originally existed in the module does not remain in the module at the start of the liquid deaeration process (water flow). This is because they can be easily removed as bubbles.
By setting the taper angle to 5 degrees or more, it is preferable that bubbles are easily removed even in deaeration of a highly viscous liquid. More preferably, it is 10 degrees or more. Further, it is preferable to set the taper angle to 20 degrees or less because the size of the module tends to be suppressed.

In this way, treated water that has passed through the inside of the module is obtained from the upper outlet. A degassing hollow fiber membrane module equivalent to that in Example 1 is prepared except that a cap having an angle α of 0 degrees and having no taper inside is used as shown in FIG. Table 1 shows the results of examining the pressure loss, treated aqueous oxygen concentration, and bubble escape when water was passed under the same conditions as in Example 1.
[Comparative Example 1]
The inner diameter (R) of the module case is 38 mm, the length (L) is 160 mm, and both ends of the gas permeable hollow fiber membrane as in Example 1 are filled so that the filling rate is 35% and the membrane area is 0.49 m 2. A hollow fiber membrane module for deaeration using the same cap inner structure as that of Example 1 is prepared by fixing with urethane resin. Table 1 shows the results of examining the pressure loss, treated aqueous oxygen concentration, and bubble escape when water was passed under the same conditions as in Example 1.
From Table 1, in Examples 1 and 2 in which L / R was less than 2 and the taper angle α inside the cap was 12 degrees, the pressure loss was less than 10 mmH 2 O, and the bubbles were well removed. The dissolved oxygen concentration of the treated water is slightly higher in Example 2 where the membrane area is small, but sufficient deaeration performance is obtained. On the other hand, in Example 3 in which a cap without a taper was used as the internal structure of the cap, good deaeration performance was obtained, but bubbles did not escape even if water flow was continued. The pressure loss was slightly higher than that of Example 1. Further, in Comparative Example 1 in which L was 160 mm and L / R was 4, although the deaeration performance and bubble removal were good, the pressure loss was high and the result exceeded 40 mmH 2 O.
According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain a degassing hollow fiber membrane module and a degassing device that have sufficient degassing performance, low pressure loss, good bubble escape, and can be downsized. In particular, it is useful for improving the printing stability of an ink jet printer.
