Description
本発明は、横へ選択的に屈折できるように節付遠位尖端を持つカテーテルチューブ、並びに、このようなカテーテルで用いられる管材料の縦の強化、並びに、このようなカテーテルチューブを作製及び使用するための手段及び方法に関係する。より具体的には、本発明は、硬膜外カテーテル等の相対的に自立した構造の、縦に強化されたカテーテル中の節付遠位尖端に関する。
本出願は、この参照により本明細書にその内容が組み入れられる、2005年11月8日に出願された、「節付遠位尖端を持つ強化カテーテル」についての米国仮特許出願第60/734,706号の出願日についての恩典を主張する。
図1は、開いた遠位末端12及び近位末端14を有し、そして本発明の教示を組み込んだ、可撓性のカテーテル10の第一の態様を描写する。カテーテル10は、その遠位末端12に、図1に示される遠位尖端16の縦に整列された位置へと、または位置から外れて選択的に横に屈折させることが出来る、節付遠位尖端16を有する、強化されたカテーテルである。この屈折は、カテーテル10の近位末端14が取り付けられた使用者ハンドル18の機構により作動される、カテーテル10の内部の構造の選択的転位により達成される。遠位尖端16の節は、意図する治療的活動が行われる、患者の体の予定された位置への、遠位尖端16の末端20の適切な配置を容易にするために有利である。カテーテル10の適用が意図される用途に依存し、このような治療的活動は、薬物の注入、若しくは体液の吸引、患者の体の内部の領域の可視化、体内部の状態の測定、または、患者の体の内部の領域の、焼灼術、若しくは高周波(RF)加熱、RFパルス及び電気的神経刺激への隷属を含み得る。
Claims (19)
- 節付遠位尖端を持つカテーテルであって、
開いた遠位及び近位末端を有し、並びに、その間に伸びる縦の通路を囲む、細長い螺旋状コイルバネであって、該コイルバネの末端部分中のコイルバネの連続するループが縦方向に分離されている、コイルバネ;
開いた遠位及び近位末端を持ち、コイルバネの外側とかみ合う、細長い可撓性チューブであって、該可撓性チューブとコイルバネの組合せにより、カテーテル中を縦に伸びる作用内腔の側面を囲む、チューブ;
可撓性チューブとコイルバネの組合せを縦に剛性にするための、可撓性チューブによってコイルバネの外側に対し留められた縦に伸びる強化ケーブルであって、該強化ケーブルの遠位末端が、コイルバネの遠位末端の近くに配置される、強化ケーブル;並びに
カテーテルの遠位尖端を選択的に横へ屈折させるための、コイルバネと作動可能に相互連結された遠位末端を有する操縦ケーブルであって、コイルバネから作用内腔を遊離して通って、カテーテルの近位末端まで伸びる、操縦ケーブル
を含むカテーテル。 - 操縦ケーブルの遠位末端がコイルバネの遠位末端と作動可能に相互連結されている、請求項1記載のカテーテル。
- 可撓性チューブの遠位末端に剛性末端ピースをさらに含む、請求項1記載のカテーテル。
- 末端ピースが、作用内腔に関して同軸で配置されるリングを含む、請求項3記載のカテーテル。
- 末端ピースが、作用内腔のための閉じられた遠位末端を含む、請求項3記載のカテーテル。
- 末端ピースが半球状の外郭を有する、請求項5記載のカテーテル。
- 末端ピースに収容される電気変換機をさらに含み、該変換機が患者または対象の体内で治療的な医療機能を選択的に行うことができる、請求項3記載のカテーテル。
- 強化ケーブル及び操縦ケーブルが、連続した細長い構造を含む、請求項1記載のカテーテル。
- 可撓性チューブの近位末端に取り付けられたハンドル;並びに
操縦ケーブルの近位末端を引いてカテーテルの遠位尖端を選択的に横へ屈折させるための、操縦ケーブルの近位末端と作動可能に相互連結された、ハンドル中の制御手段
をさらに含む、請求項1記載のカテーテル。 - 外壁の遠位末端に、作用内腔に対して同軸に配置された剛性のリングをさらに含む、請求項9記載のカテーテル。
- 作用内腔のための閉じられた遠位末端をさらに含み、該遠位末端が半球状の外郭を有する、請求項9記載のカテーテル。
- 強化ケーブルの遠位末端に操縦ケーブルの遠位末端が固定されている、請求項1、2、または9記載のカテーテル。
- コイルバネの末端部分におけるコイルバネの各ループがコイルバネの隣接するループに接触している、請求項1記載のカテーテル。
- 可撓性チューブが、
コイルバネの外側と直接接触するよう配置された内層;及び
該内層の外側にかみ合う外層であって、該内層よりも柔軟な外層
を含む、請求項1記載のカテーテル。 - 可撓性チューブの外層の遠位部分が、該外層の近位部分よりも柔軟である、請求項14記載のカテーテル。
- 節付遠位尖端を持つカテーテルを製造するための方法であって、
開いた遠位及び近位末端を有し、その間に伸びる縦の通路を囲む、細長い螺旋状コイルバネを提供する工程であって、該コイルバネの遠位末端に隣接するコイルバネの遠位部分中の、コイルバネの連続するループが縦方向に分離されている、工程;
繊維の第二部分がコイルバネの遠位末端を超えて遠くに伸びている状態で、繊維の第一部分をコイルバネの外側に沿って配置する工程;
該第一部分から遠くにある該繊維の第二部分の末端を、コイルバネ中の通路中に、コイルバネの遠位末端から近位末端へと通す工程;並びに
コイルバネの外側及び繊維の第一部分の周りに、可撓性チューブをかみ合わせる工程
を含む方法。 - 可撓性チューブの遠位末端に剛性末端ピースを取り付ける工程をさらに含む、請求項16記載の方法。
- 剛性末端ピース上に電気的に活性化された変換機を装備する工程をさらに含む、請求項17記載の方法。
- 可撓性チューブの近位末端にハンドルを固定する工程をさらに含む、請求項16記載の方法。
