Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell, and more particularly to a technique for discharging water generated during power generation.
BACKGROUND ART A solid polymer electrolyte fuel cell (hereinafter simply referred to as a fuel cell) includes a membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) having an electrode on the surface of an electrolyte membrane made of an ion exchange membrane. The MEA has a fuel electrode (anode electrode) that reacts with fuel gas (hydrogen) on one side and an oxidation electrode (cathode electrode) that reacts with oxidizing gas (oxygen) on the other side. Prepare.
As this type of fuel cell, there is a configuration comprising an MEA, a pair of resin frames that sandwich and fix the MEA from the front and back surfaces, and a pair of separators that are disposed on the front and back surfaces of the MEA that are sandwiched and fixed by the resin frames. Are known. The resin frame is composed of a cathode-side resin frame disposed on the cathode side of the MEA and an anode-side resin frame disposed on the anode side of the MEA, and the separator is disposed on the cathode side to supply an oxidizing gas to the MEA. The cathode side separator provided with the oxidizing gas flow path and the anode side separator provided on the anode side and provided with the fuel gas flow path for supplying fuel gas to the MEA (see Patent Document 1).
The fuel cell having the above configuration further includes a manifold (introduction side) for supplying oxidizing gas into the fuel cell from the outside, and a manifold (exhaust side) for discharging unreacted oxidizing gas and the like out of the fuel cell. Is provided. The cathode-side resin frame has an oxidizing gas supply path through which an oxidizing gas is supplied from the manifold (introduction side) and an oxidizing gas discharge path through which unreacted oxidizing gas and the like are discharged to the manifold (exhaust side). Prepare.
The oxidizing gas supplied from the manifold (introduction side) first passes through the oxidizing gas supply path of the cathode side resin frame, and then passes through the oxidizing gas flow path of the cathode side separator and is supplied to the cathode electrode of the MEA. Is done. Most of the supplied oxidizing gas is consumed by a predetermined chemical reaction at the cathode electrode, but a part of the oxidizing gas remains unreacted. Unreacted oxidizing gas passes from the oxidizing gas flow path of the separator through the oxidizing gas discharge path of the resin frame and is discharged from the manifold (discharge side) to the outside of the fuel cell. Further, since water is generated at the cathode electrode with the chemical reaction, the generated water (generated water) is also discharged outside the fuel cell through the same route as the unreacted oxidizing gas. If the generated water is not discharged to the outside of the fuel cell, it stays in the gas flow path and closes the gas flow path. As a result, gas does not reach the electrodes, causing problems such as a reduction in power generation efficiency of the fuel cell.
In view of this, the above-mentioned Patent Document 1 forms a gradient in the gas flow path of the separator by making the cross-sectional area of the downstream gas flow path in the gas flow direction smaller than the cross-sectional area of the upstream side. A fuel cell having a configuration in which the generated gas flow rate is maintained high and the generated water in the gas flow path is blown off by the gas to be easily discharged is disclosed. According to the said structure, the produced water in the gas flow path of a separator can be discharged | emitted efficiently.
The generated water discharged from the gas flow path of the separator passes through the flow path on the resin frame and is discharged to the manifold (discharge side). The resin frame (resin) has a predetermined amount with respect to the generated water (water). In order to exhibit water repellency, the generated water exhibits a so-called “hardness to wet” on the resin frame, and tends to clump. For this reason, the generated water may stay in the flow path (oxidation gas discharge path) on the resin frame, which is a problem.

FIG. 6 is an enlarged perspective view showing the oxidizing
Examples of a method of performing water repellency treatment on the surface of the oxidizing
When the surface of the oxidizing
As a method for performing hydrophilic treatment on the oxidizing
If the oxidizing
In this embodiment, the waste water treatment is performed only on the oxidizing
When performing the wastewater treatment, for example, the oxidizing
