Description
本発明は、光学素子及び光学装置に関する。 The present invention relates to an optical element and an optical device.
近年、サブマイクロスケールの周期構造体(規則構造体)を利用した『構造色』による発色機構を用いた表示・調色システムが提案されている。現在までにシリカやポリマーの単分散粒子を用いたコロイド結晶、ブロック共重合体のミクロドメイン構造、界面活性剤のラメラ構造等による周期構造体を利用した構造色の発色が報告されている。 In recent years, a display / toning system using a coloring mechanism based on “structural colors” using a sub-microscale periodic structure (regular structure) has been proposed. To date, the development of structural colors using periodic structures such as colloidal crystals using monodisperse particles of silica or polymer, microdomain structure of block copolymers, lamellar structure of surfactants, etc. has been reported.
特に、コロイド結晶による周期構造体は多くの報告がなされており、粒子同士の斥力を利用した非最密充填型、及び粒子を密にパッキングした最密充填型の2種に分類することができる。 In particular, many reports have been made on periodic structures made of colloidal crystals, and can be classified into two types, a non-close-packed type using repulsive force between particles and a close-packed type in which particles are packed closely. .
The structural colors in these proposals use multiple colors with a single element because they use the dielectric properties of the materials used and the reflection of specific wavelengths derived from the structure of the mesoscale order without using dyes or pigments. It seems to be the most effective method for this purpose.
As described above, a technique for multicolor display using a periodic structure has been studied.

The first optical element of the present invention is (A) a periodic structure having a void structure that communicates with the outside inside, (A) a movable particle, and the movable particles are moved inside or outside the void structure of the periodic structure. A dimming layer including moving means (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as “(A) dimming layer”), and (B) a dimming layer representing at least white and black (hereinafter simply referred to as “(B) dimming”). It may be referred to as a “layer”).
The second optical element of the present invention includes (a) a periodic structure having a void structure communicating with the outside inside, a mobile particle, and the mobile particle inside or outside the void structure of the periodic structure. A light control layer including a moving means to be moved (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as “(a) light control layer”); and (b) a light control layer representing at least white and transparent (hereinafter simply referred to as “(b)”.

As shown in FIG. 1A, the
As described above, the first optical element of the present invention is capable of forming a transparent state and multicolor display by the relationship between the periodic structure and the movable particles (A) a light control layer, and at least white display and black display. And (B) a light control layer that can be laminated. For this reason, (A) the color (including the transparent state) displayed by the light control layer and (B) the color displayed by the light control layer are appropriately combined, and for example, as shown in FIG. By determining the light control layer disposed on the viewing side, multicolor display including white display with high contrast and excellent brightness is possible.
In addition, the 1st optical element of this invention may have the structure containing arbitrary layers other than (A) light control layer and (B) light control layer in the range which does not impair an effect, for example, A transparent layer may be included between (A) the light control layer and (B) the light control layer.

It is formed by stacking (b) a light control layer and (c) a black layer that can be formed. For this reason, (a) the color (including the transparent state) displayed by the light control layer, (b) the color displayed by the light control layer, and (c) the black color of the black layer are appropriately combined, and FIG. As shown in (b), by determining the layer structure of the three members (a) to (c) on the observation side, multi-color display including white display with high contrast and excellent brightness is possible. It becomes.
In addition, the 2nd optical element of this invention has the structure containing arbitrary layers other than (a) light control layer, (b) light control layer, and (c) black layer in the range which does not impair an effect. For example, a transparent layer may be included between (b) the light control layer and (a) the light control layer.
Hereinafter, the display mechanism in the first optical element and the second display element of the present invention will be described in detail.

As described above, both the first optical element and the second optical element of the present invention are capable of multicolor display including white display with excellent contrast and lightness (high reflectance).
Here, in the present invention, “white display with excellent brightness” means white display with high reflectivity, and specifically, an average reflectivity of 30% or more in the visible light region. (A)及び(a)調光層は、内部に外部と通じる空隙構造を有する周期構造体、移動性粒子、及び該移動性粒子を前記周期構造体の空隙構造の内部又は外部に移動させる移動手段を含む構成を有し、必要に応じて、他の構成成分を含んでいてもよい。
Hereafter, each member which comprises the optical element of this invention is demonstrated in detail.
First, with reference to the drawings, (A) the light control layer and (a) the light control layer constituting the optical element of the present invention will be described. In addition, since the structure of (A) light control layer and (a) light control layer is the same, it demonstrates below collectively as (A) and (a) light control layer.
(A) and (a) The light control layer includes a periodic structure having a void structure communicating with the outside inside, a movable particle, and a movement for moving the movable particle to the inside or outside of the void structure of the periodic structure. It has a configuration including means, and may include other components as necessary.

In the case of a positive structure, unit structures (for example, particles) are regularly arranged, and a void structure (porous structure) is formed using gaps between the unit structures.
On the other hand, the negative structure has a void structure (porous structure) by filling a template material into a gap between unit structures (for example, particles) of a positive structure and then removing the unit structure. Structure).
When the charge-moving particles (mobile particles) 20A enter or exit the void structure of these structures, the structural color derived from the structures can be changed.

For this reason, the major axis of the hole constituting the void structure (the diameter is the diameter when the hole is spherical, and the distance between adjacent upper and lower rod-shaped bodies in the case of a woodpile structure) is 10 nm or more and 1000 nm. It is desirable to be within the following range. When the major axis of the pores constituting the void structure is less than 10 nm or larger than 1000 nm, the wavelength of the reflected light from the

A colloidal crystal structure, which is one type of periodic structure, is a non-close-packed structure filled using repulsive force between colloidal particles or a close-packed structure filled with colloidal particles. Examples of the colloidal particles include particles having a volume average particle diameter of 10 nm to 1000 nm, silica particles, polymer particles (polystyrene, polyester, polyimide, polyolefin, poly (meth) methyl acrylate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyethersulfone). , Nylon, polyurethane, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, etc.) and other inorganic particles such as titanium oxide).
Such colloidal particles include, for example, emulsion polymerization, suspension polymerization, two-stage template polymerization, chemical gas phase reaction method, electric furnace heating method, thermal plasma method, laser heating method, gas evaporation method, coprecipitation method, It can be prepared by a uniform precipitation method, a compound precipitation method, a metal alkoxide method, a hydrothermal synthesis method, a sol-gel method, a spray method, a freezing freezing method, and a nitrate decomposition method.
The colloidal crystal structure is a method in which colloidal particles are deposited on a substrate using a colloidal particle dispersion by self-organization by gravity sedimentation method or coating drying method, or a method in which the colloidal crystal structure is deposited on a substrate by the action of an electric field or magnetic field. Furthermore, the substrate can be produced by a method of immersing the substrate in a dispersion of colloidal particles, pulling it up and forming it on the substrate.
コロイド結晶構造体は厚さが100nm〜5mm、好ましくは500nm〜1mmであることがよい。 The colloidal crystal structure has a thickness of 100 nm to 5 mm, preferably 500 nm to 1 mm.
In addition, the microdomain structure, which is one type of periodic structure, uses, for example, a block copolymer in which different types of polymers are connected by chemical bonds, and due to repulsion between the different types of polymers, a nanometer to submicrometer structure is obtained. It has a periodic structure of meters.
Examples of the block copolymer include poly (styrene-co-isoprene) block copolymer, poly (styrene-co-butadiene) block copolymer poly (styrene-co-vinylpyridine) block copolymer, poly ( (Styrene-co-ethylenepropylene) block copolymer and the like, and a plurality of repeating units may be used.
このようなミクロドメイン構造体は、例えば、流動温度以上に上昇させたのちに冷却して固化させたり、溶媒に溶解させた後に溶媒を蒸散させて固化させることで作製することができる。 Such a microdomain structure can be produced, for example, by raising the temperature to a temperature higher than the flow temperature and then cooling to solidify, or by dissolving in a solvent and evaporating the solvent to solidify.
ミクロドメイン構造体は、それぞれのドメインの屈折率差が0.1〜10であって、ドメインの特長距離が10nm〜1000nmであることがよい。 In the microdomain structure, the difference in refractive index between the domains is preferably 0.1 to 10, and the feature distance of the domains is preferably 10 nm to 1000 nm.
また、周期構造体の1種であるラメラ構造体は、液晶構造の一つであり、分子膜が層状にスタックし、分子膜間相互の斥力により安定化されているものである。分子膜を構成する材料としては、界面活性剤等がある。 A lamellar structure, which is one type of periodic structure, is one of liquid crystal structures, in which molecular films are stacked in layers and stabilized by repulsive forces between the molecular films. Examples of the material constituting the molecular film include a surfactant.
このようなラメラ構造体は、例えば、界面活性剤を用いた多層二分子膜によるラメラ層間を反応場としてアルコキシシランのゾル−ゲル合成より作製することができる。更にこの手法は界面活性剤が形成するヘキサゴナル相、逆ヘキサゴナル相を反応場に用いても周期構造体を得ることができる。 Such a lamellar structure can be produced, for example, by sol-gel synthesis of alkoxysilane using a lamellar layer formed by a multilayer bimolecular film using a surfactant as a reaction field. Furthermore, this method can also obtain a periodic structure even when a hexagonal phase or a reverse hexagonal phase formed by a surfactant is used in the reaction field.
ラメラ構造体は、それぞれの層の屈折率差が0.1〜10であって、層間距離が10nm〜1000nmであることがよい。 The lamellar structure preferably has a difference in refractive index of each layer of 0.1 to 10 and an interlayer distance of 10 nm to 1000 nm.
また、蒸着法、スパッタ法、塗布法、引き上げ法など薄膜作製法により異なる屈折率を有する素材を積層することでも周期構造体を得ることができる。 In addition, the periodic structure can be obtained by laminating materials having different refractive indexes by thin film manufacturing methods such as vapor deposition, sputtering, coating, and pulling.

Here, as a method for measuring the volume average particle diameter, a laser diffraction scattering method is employed in which a particle group is irradiated with laser light and the average particle diameter is measured from the intensity distribution pattern of diffraction and scattered light emitted therefrom. In addition, the measurement was performed at 25 ° C. using a dynamic light scattering type particle size distribution measuring device (LB-550, Horiba, Ltd.). In the case of metal nanoparticles, the measurement was performed with a transmission electron microscope (HD-2300, Hitachi High-Technologies Corporation).
The

Moreover, you may form a core-shell structure with another raw material.
また、移動性粒子として磁気移動性粒子を適用する場合、移動手段としては磁気発生手段(例えば、電磁石、フェライト磁石、ネオジウム磁石、サマコバ磁石、アルニコ磁石、ラバー磁石、キャップ磁石等)が適用される。 In addition, when magnetically mobile particles are applied as mobile particles, magnetism generating means (for example, electromagnet, ferrite magnet, neodymium magnet, sumakoba magnet, alnico magnet, rubber magnet, cap magnet, etc.) is applied as the moving means. .

Next, the electrode will be described. Constituent materials of the
The moving means (electric field applying means) is not limited to an electrode, and may be made of a conductive material. For example, titanium, vanadium, chromium, manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, gallium, Conductive polymer such as germanium, silver, cadmium, indium, etc., conductive polymer such as polyacetylene, polyparaphenylene, polymethylthiophene, polypyrrole, polyaniline, polyphenylene vinylene, etc. Resin, carbon material and the like.
Constituent materials of the
The
スペーサー22としては、例えば、樹脂、金属酸化物、ガラスなどで構成することができる。また、スペーサー22は、特に制限はないが、基板間の間隙が、電気絶縁性液体と、周期構造体18及び分散媒20の配置領域が確保するために十分に均一な間隙が確保されるように配置する。
The
スペーサー22の形状は安定して間隙を維持できるものであれば特に限定されないが、例えば、球、立方体、柱状のものなどの独立した形状のものが好ましく用いられる。
The shape of the
なお、各構成要素は、電界を付与する電圧においても、分解しない材料や不活性な材料で構成することがよい。 Each component is preferably made of a material that does not decompose or an inert material even at a voltage that applies an electric field.
このような構成の本実施形態に係る(A)及び(a)調光層では、電界付与手段としての一対の第1電極14及び第2電極16に電圧を印加することで、周期構造体18へ電界を付与する。この電界により、周期構造体18の空隙構造18Aに電荷移動性粒子20Aが入り込む(図6(a)参照)。そして、この入り込んだ電荷移動性粒子20Aにより平均屈折率が変化し、周期構造体18に由来する構造色から色が変化する。
In the (A) and (a) dimming layers according to the present embodiment having such a configuration, the
一方、上記電圧とは逆の電圧を一対の第1電極14及び第2電極16に印加すると、上記電界とは逆の電界が周期構造体18に付与される。この逆の電界により、周期構造体18の空隙構造18Aから電荷移動性粒子20Aが出て行く(図6(b)参照)。周期構造体18の空隙構造18Aから電荷移動性粒子20Aが無くなることで、平均屈折率が変化し、周期構造体に由来する構造色へ色が変化する。
On the other hand, when a voltage opposite to the voltage is applied to the pair of
このように、電荷移動性粒子20Aにより平均屈折率を変化させることで、色を変化させることができるが、この電荷移動性粒子20Aの存在率によっても平均屈折率変化量が異なるため、当該存在率によって調色することができる。この存在率の調整は、付与する電界強度(印加電圧、電流量)や時間により適宜行うことができる。
As described above, the color can be changed by changing the average refractive index by the
なお、電荷移動性粒子20A(移動性粒子)の存在率とは、周期構造体18の空隙構造の単位体積当りに、当該空隙構造に電荷移動性粒子20Aが存在する割合(空隙構造単位体積当りに存在する粒子体積)である。
The abundance ratio of the
Further, multi-color display can be performed by allowing the charge-moving
ここで、周期構造体18が構造色を呈するメカニズム、及び周期構造体の空隙構造に電荷移動性粒子20A(移動性粒子)が入り込むことによる調色のメカニズムを、コロイド結晶構造体を例にして説明する。
Here, the mechanism of the
まず、図8に示すように、コロイド結晶構造体による可視光の干渉のメカニズムはX線回折による結晶構造解析に用いられるブラッグの法則(下記式(1))を適用することができる。 First, as shown in FIG. 8, Bragg's law (formula (1) below) used for crystal structure analysis by X-ray diffraction can be applied to the mechanism of interference of visible light by a colloidal crystal structure.
式(1)中、mは定数、λは光の波長、lは格子定数、θは入射角である。ここではしかしX線回折による手法コロイド結晶構造体の干渉は波長と対象物のスケールの比率が大きく異なるためそのままは用いることはできない。つまり、コロイド結晶構造体は可視光の波長と同程度であるので屈折率の影響を考慮しなければならない。 In equation (1), m is a constant, λ is the wavelength of light, l is a lattice constant, and θ is an incident angle. Here, however, the interference of the colloidal crystal structure by X-ray diffraction cannot be used as it is because the ratio of the wavelength and the scale of the object is greatly different. That is, since the colloidal crystal structure has the same wavelength as that of visible light, the influence of the refractive index must be considered.
そこで、図9に示すように、αの角度で進入した光の波長(λair)とコロイド結晶構造体によりθの角度に屈折した光の波長(λcry)との関係は、nair、ncryをそれぞれ空気及びコロイド結晶構造体の屈折率としたとき、下記式(2)で表される(スネルの法則)。 Therefore, as shown in FIG. 9, the relationship between the wavelength of light entering at an angle (λ air ) and the wavelength of light refracted at an angle of θ by the colloidal crystal structure (λ cry ) is expressed as n air , n When cry is the refractive index of air and the colloidal crystal structure, respectively, it is expressed by the following formula (2) (Snell's law).
更に、図10に示すように、コロイド結晶構造体はエネルギー的に最も安定な面心立方結晶の(111)面を表層にしていることから(図10中ACF面、hfda面)、コロイド粒子の粒径(体積平均粒径)をDで表すと格子定数は下記式(2’)となり、式(1)、式(2)をまとめることで、下記式(3)を得る。 Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 10, the colloidal crystal structure has the (111) plane of the most stable face-centered cubic crystal as the surface layer (the ACF plane and the hfda plane in FIG. 10). When the particle diameter (volume average particle diameter) is represented by D, the lattice constant becomes the following expression (2 ′), and the following expression (3) is obtained by combining the expressions (1) and (2).
ここで、式(3)nair、ncryはそれぞれ空気、コロイド粒子の屈折率、φair、φcolloidはそれぞれ空気、コロイド粒子の体積分率である。このλが可視光領域(400nm〜800nm)に収まったとき構造色として認識できることになる。 Here, an equation (3) n air, n cry each air, the refractive index of the colloidal particles, phi air, phi colloid respectively air, the volume fraction of colloidal particles. When λ falls within the visible light region (400 nm to 800 nm), it can be recognized as a structural color.
このようなコロイド結晶構造体にナノオーダーの構造を制御し、光の波長程度の周期構造を創り込むことで構造色を操ることができる。そして、最密充填型コロイド結晶構造体から得られる反射波長は式(3)に移動性粒子の屈折率を加え、下記式(4)で表される。 By controlling the nano-order structure in such a colloidal crystal structure and creating a periodic structure of the order of the wavelength of light, the structural color can be manipulated. The reflection wavelength obtained from the close-packed colloidal crystal structure is represented by the following formula (4) by adding the refractive index of the mobile particles to the formula (3).
式(4)中、nsolution、nPC、nparticleはそれぞれ分散媒、コロイド結晶構造体及び移動性粒子の屈折率、φparticleは移動性粒子の体積分率である。また、φcry=φcolloidである。ここで、コロイド結晶構造体の視野角を無視した場合(例えば、上記手法で視野角依存性を改善すると視野角を無視することができる)、式(4)は下記式(5)と書き直すことができる。 In formula (4), n solution , n PC , and n particle are the refractive index of the dispersion medium, colloidal crystal structure, and mobile particle, respectively, and φ particle is the volume fraction of the mobile particle. Also, φ cry = φ colloid . Here, when the viewing angle of the colloidal crystal structure is ignored (for example, if the viewing angle dependency is improved by the above method, the viewing angle can be ignored), the formula (4) can be rewritten as the following formula (5). Can do.
つまり、式(5)から、移動性粒子によりコロイド結晶構造体の構造色が変化することが示される。また、移動性粒子の量(存在率)によって調色されることも示される。 That is, the formula (5) shows that the structural color of the colloidal crystal structure is changed by the mobile particles. It is also shown that the color is adjusted by the amount (abundance) of the mobile particles.
このように、本実施形態に係る(A)及び(a)調光層は、多色表示が可能となると共に、メモリ性を有する表示が可能となる。また、多色表示の際、(A)及び(a)調光層を構成する成分の大きさの変化は伴わないので、1画素ごとの表示が簡易に行える。また、カラーフィルターのような第3手段を必要とすることもない。 As described above, the light control layers (A) and (a) according to the present embodiment enable multicolor display and display with memory properties. Further, in the case of multicolor display, the size of the components constituting the light control layers (A) and (a) is not changed, so that display for each pixel can be easily performed. Further, the third means such as a color filter is not required.
なお、本実施形態に係る(A)及び(a)調光層では、電界付与手段としての第1電極14及び第2電極16を、周期構造体18及び分散媒20に接触配置させた形態を説明したが、第1電極14及び第2電極16は周期構造体18に電界を付与できれば、非接触配置してもよく、例えば、図11に示すように、第1電極14及び第2電極16を透明基板10及び背面基板12の外面(非対向面)に配置した形態であってもよい。
In the light control layer (A) and (a) according to the present embodiment, the
また、本実施形態に係る(A)及び(a)調光層では、電界付与手段としての第1電極14を別途設けた形態を説明したが、図12に示すように、第1電極14を周期構造体18が兼ねることもできる。これにより、省スペース化が図れる。
Further, in the (A) and (a) dimming layers according to the present embodiment, the

Example 1
An optical element having the configuration shown in FIG. 1 (a) (first optical element of the present invention) was produced as follows.
First, a smooth glass substrate with an ITO electrode (3 cm × 5 cm, thickness 2 mm) is added to an ethanol suspension containing a predetermined amount of monodispersed polystyrene particles (trade name: Estapol ES, Merck) having a volume average primary particle size of 260 nm. Close-packed colloidal crystal in which about 20 layers of polystyrene particles are regularly layered on a substrate (on an ITO electrode) using a dip coating method by immersing a part masked (exposed part of the substrate surface is 2 cm x 2 cm) Was formed in an area of 2 cm × 2 cm. Here, the substrate pulling rate was 0.5 μm / s, and a close-packed colloidal crystal was produced with a thickness of 5 μm. It was confirmed that the obtained close-packed periodic structure had a face-centered cubic lattice with (1,1,1) surface as the surface layer by scanning electron microscope (SEM) observation. It was colorless (transparent).
Next, using this colloidal crystal structure as a template, an ultraviolet curable resin precursor (manufactured by Toagosei Co., Ltd .: Aronix UV) was dropped and impregnated into the interstices of the structure, and then cured by irradiation with ultraviolet rays. (The refractive index of the cured resin is about 1.5). After curing, the surface is polished to expose the polystyrene particles, and then the polystyrene particles are eluted by etching using an organic solvent (toluene, manufactured by Wako Pure Chemical Industries, Ltd.) to form a void structure formed using the polystyrene particles as a template. A porous structure (periodic structure) was obtained. The obtained periodic structure (porous structure) had a thickness of 5 μm (in air) and was colorless.
When the obtained periodic structure (porous structure) was observed by SEM, it was a porous structure (corresponding to the periodic structure of the present invention) having a structure in which the periodic structure made of polystyrene particles was almost inverted. Was confirmed. The void diameter was 250 nm. Furthermore, it was observed that the pores were connected to each other and had a continuous phase due to the pores. As a result of the measurement, the volume of the void structure accounted for 75% of the periodic structure.
On the other hand, an ethanol dispersion in which titanium oxide particles having a volume average primary particle size of 30 nm in a dispersed state (specific gravity of titanium oxide: about 4, refractive index: about 2.7) are dispersed in ethanol as a dispersion medium at a concentration of 10% by mass. A medium was prepared (refractive index of ethanol: 1.36). The dispersion medium was transparent.
A resin spacer layer having a height of 100 μm is formed along the outer periphery of the porous substrate (2 cm × 2 cm) of the glass substrate on which the obtained porous structure (periodic structure) is formed. The glass substrate with an ITO electrode was overlapped with the electrode surface so as to face each other, and the ethanol dispersion medium of the titanium oxide particles was injected from a partially provided opening.
The (A) light control layer in Example 1 was produced by the above.
