【課題】・フォームカバー自体が旧態化している。
・ソフトスポンジ製であることから、すぐに破れたり、ズボンに穴も空きやすく、見た目も悪いものになってしまう。
・人の姿をまねていても、所詮は本物ではないという心理的ストレスがあり、幻視痛などの要因にもなる。
【解決手段】効果：膝継手のデザインの美しさも演出の要素として取り入れることで、長く愛用でき、かつ、見せる喜びを感じることが出来る。
効果：「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を付けている時、外している時、ともに、膝継手の動きを阻害することが無いため、ストレスフリーな動きを実現。
効果：長ズボンを履くときは「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を装着することで、見た目の違和感もなく、ズボンの破れなどの緩和にも役立つ。
効果：製品自体が、美しさを備えた機械という発想で成り立っており、機能美を積極的に表に出すことで、精神的にもポジティブなり、幻視痛の軽減にも効果がある。

義肢のパーツ Prosthetic parts

フォームカバーとは、
もともと、失った体の一部に、本来あった姿のデザインさいれたカバーを
施すことである。
私の扱う義足について説明すると、骨格部分は本来義足としての
「歩く」機能部位であり
この出願対象は、あくまでその骨格に被せる「フォームカバー」の
新たな提案と位置づけする。 What is a foam cover?

・ 従来の義足の切断部位をいくら似せても
国の補助対象の額では、一目で見破られる素材でできている。
・ 膝継手の歩行性能は日々、向上しているにもかかわらず
その膝継手を包み込むカバーは、数十年前から素材
造形とも進化していない。
・ 半年程度しか持たないソフトスポンジであることから
破れたままで、使用することで、ズボンに穴も空きやすく
見た目も悪いものになってしまう。
・ 人の姿をまねていても、所詮は本物ではないという

手段を 「大腿義足」を例にとり説明する。
従来のフォームカバーは
事故、病気などで失った足の形を
例えば、右足を大腿部から無くした場合は、
残された 左足を参考に「型」を大きい紙に足の外周に沿って
トレースし、ソフトスポンジの肌色のもので
加工して、オーダーメイドとして作成し
骨格の義足の外側に被せる。
この手法だと ソフトスポンジが激しい動きで破れることが
多く、ほとんどのユーザーが破れたまま装着。
又は、フォームカバーそのものを使わない
といった問題点があった。
他にも ソフトスポンジを大腿部まで一体成型するため
本来の骨格義足の膝が曲がる動きに抵抗が
生じて、骨格義足の膝継手本来の機能を
阻害していた。
私の提案する「義肢トランスフォームカバー」は
普段、会社などで、スーツ等の仕事の際には
長ズボンに隠された義足が、自然な姿に見えるよう、
脱着可能な
従来のフォームカバーに
類似した専用「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を
装着する。
本来の骨格義足にデザインを施し、その上に分割された
パーツを被せることで、膝継手の機能も阻害することはない。
ここでのポイントは、簡単に着脱できる工夫をしている点で
慣れれば1分もかからずに着脱可能。
週末のスポーツなどの際に
あえて「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を外すことで

短パンなどで見せることで、オシャレとして
義肢の既成概念を変えることを意図する。
具体的効果として
以下に箇条書きする。
・ 従来の義足の切断部位をいくら似せても
国の補助対象の額では、一目で見破られる素材でできている。
→効果：本製品（以下、義肢トランスフォームカバーを指す）は
ひざ下部分、大腿部分を分割して、膝継手のデザインの
美しさも演出の要素として取り入れることで
義足の機能美を生かすことで、長く愛用でき
かつ、見せる喜びを感じることが出来る。
・ 膝継手の歩行性能は日々、向上しているにもかかわらず
その膝継手を包み込むカバーは、数十年前から素材
造形とも進化していない。
→効果：本製品は、上記、2分割でデザインされているので
「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を付けている時、外している時
ともに、膝継手の動きを阻害することが無いため
従来のものでは体感したことのないストレスフリーな
動きを実現。

骨格義足は、既製品の組み合わせの構成である。
大腿義足を例にとると
数十点のパーツの塊であるが簡潔に言うと下から順に
・足部パーツ

・ソケット で出来ている。
この既製品の構成はユーザーの使用条件に合わせ
医師、義肢装具士が処方する。
この構成が確定したら
そのパーツを包む、本製品のイメージスケッチを
デザイナー（私自身）が作成。
このスケッチに合わせて、義肢装具士が各パーツの
素材、構成をデザイナーと相談しながら
オリジナルのワンオフで作成。
最後に、「長ズボン用フォームパーツ」を本製品の
形に合わせて、こちらもワンオフで作成。
上記のうち、国の補助対象から外れる表面処理は
自己負担となるが、FRPの加工代、塗装代など

今までのフォームカバーのように
本来の失った足に一見は似ているものの
じっくり見れば偽物と分かってしまうことや
すぐに破れてしまうという、もろい素材など
進歩のなかった構成パーツを
根本的な発想から見直しをしている。
また 「偽物」というイメージは多くがこのフォームカバーに
よるところがあり、隠すという日本特有の
文化が生み出したネガティブなパーツであった。
これからは
自己主張など、個人を尊重するものであり
障害者、というカテゴリーの暗いイメージを打破するためにも
本製品は国の補助対象として取り扱いする価値は
十分あると考える。
ユニバーサルデザインの観点からも
