Description

The present invention relates to a wheel bearing device that rotatably supports a wheel of an automobile or the like with respect to a suspension device, and more particularly, to a wheel bearing device that achieves a reduction in cost while reducing the weight and size of the device.

In recent years, demands for improving fuel efficiency have been severe from the viewpoint of resource saving or pollution. In automobile parts, the weight reduction of wheel bearing devices has been attracting attention as a factor to meet such demands and has been strongly desired for a long time. In particular, light vehicles such as light four-wheel vehicles or small cars among vehicles such as automobiles have been increasingly demanded for weight reduction. There have been various proposals related to wheel bearing devices that have been reduced in weight, and at the same time, cost reduction is also an important factor.

FIG. 7 shows an example of a wheel bearing device that is used in an automobile and is reduced in weight. This wheel bearing device has a typical structure used on the drive wheel side, and includes a hub wheel 51 and a double row rolling bearing 52 formed as a unit.

The hub wheel 51 of the wheel bearing device is formed by forging to form a hollow structure, and integrally has a wheel mounting flange 53 for mounting a wheel (not shown), and one inward rolling of the double row rolling bearing 52 on the outer periphery thereof. A running surface 51a and a cylindrical small diameter step portion 51b extending in the axial direction from the inner rolling surface 51a are formed, and a torque transmission spline 54 is formed on the inner periphery.

A separate inner ring 55 in which the other inner rolling surface 55a of the double row rolling bearing 52 is formed on the outer periphery is press-fitted into the small diameter step portion 51b. The end portion of the small diameter step portion 51 b is plastically deformed radially outward to form a crimped portion 56, and the inner ring 55 is fixed to the hub wheel 51 in the axial direction by the crimped portion 56.

On the other hand, the outer member 57 constituting the double-row rolling bearing 52 integrally has a vehicle body mounting flange 57b for fixing to the knuckle 58 constituting the suspension device, and the inner rolling surfaces 51a, 55a are arranged on the inner periphery. Double row outer rolling surfaces 57a and 57a are formed opposite to each other. As described above, the double row rolling bearing 52 includes the hub wheel 51, the inner ring 55, the outer member 57, and the double row balls 59 accommodated so as to roll between the rolling surfaces 51a, 57a, 55a, 57a. , 59.

In the hub wheel 51, hub bolts 53a are implanted at four equal locations around the wheel mounting flange 53, and the brake rotor 60 and the wheel are fastened. As shown in FIG. 8, the hub wheel 51 has a bolt insertion hole 61 in which a hub bolt 53 a is fixed to the wheel mounting flange 53, and avoids the periphery of the bolt insertion hole 61. , An R-shaped notch 62 is formed on the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange 53.

The notch 62 is formed so that the deepest portion 62 a is close to the string B connecting the center of the adjacent bolt insertion hole 61 on the inner diameter side of the pitch circle diameter A of the bolt insertion hole 61. Further, the wheel mounting flange 53 is formed with a thin portion 63 in which the thickness in the vicinity of the outer periphery of each bolt insertion hole 61 is reduced, and the inner peripheral side including the bolt insertion holes 61 is not reduced in thickness. The normal thick portion 64 is used so that sufficient bending rigidity can be obtained. This prevents a reduction in the bending rigidity of the wheel mounting flange 53 while reducing the weight.
JP 2003-94905 A

In such a conventional wheel bearing device, the outer peripheral portion between the hub bolts 53a of the wheel mounting flange 53 is eliminated to reduce the weight, and the wheel mounting is performed while the hub wheel 51 is slimmed. The bending rigidity of the flange 53 is prevented from being lowered. Moreover, as shown to Fig.9 (a), in the forge process of the hub wheel 51, it has a metal mold | die structure which can form the wheel mounting flange 53 flatly. That is, the upper die 65 and the lower die 66 are configured to abut each other through a slight cavity at the side surface 67 of the wheel mounting flange 53 so that the forging material easily flows to the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange 53. Has been. As a result, as shown in (b), burrs 68 are generated on the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange 53. Then, as shown in (c), the burrs 68 are removed by die cutting in the final process of forging.

However, when turning the side surface 67 of the wheel mounting flange 53, it is necessary to separately remove the burr on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface 67 so that a burr is generated on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface 67 and does not creep into the side surface 67 side. there were. Further, since the wheel mounting flange 53 has a flower shape, the turning process for removing the burr 68 is an intermittent process, which increases the cycle time and increases the manufacturing cost.

The present invention has been made in view of such a conventional problem, and an object thereof is to provide a wheel bearing device that achieves light weight and compactness while ensuring strength and rigidity and at the same time lowers the cost. To do.

In order to achieve such an object, the invention described in claim 1 of the present invention includes an outer member having a double row outer raceway formed on the inner periphery, and a wheel mounting flange at an end on the outboard side. A hub wheel integrally formed and having a small-diameter step portion extending in the axial direction on the outer periphery, and at least one inner ring press-fitted into the small-diameter step portion of the hub wheel, and outer rolling of the double row on the outer periphery. In a wheel bearing device comprising: an inner member in which a double-row inner rolling surface facing the surface is formed; and a double-row rolling element that is slidably accommodated between the both rolling surfaces; A predetermined chamfered portion is formed on the outer peripheral edge of the wheel mounting flange by forging, and the chamfered portions are formed at both ends of the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange .

Thus, in the wheel bearing apparatus provided with a hub wheel integrally having a wheel mounting flange for mounting a wheel at one end, the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange, a predetermined chamfered portion is formed by forging, the Since the chamfered parts are formed at both ends of the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange, even if the outer side surface of the wheel mounting flange is formed into the desired shape and dimensions in the turning process, burrs are generated on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface. As a result, no burrs are removed in the turning process. Therefore, while ensuring strength and rigidity, it is possible to reduce the cost by reducing the number of steps while reducing the weight and size.

Preferably, as in the invention described in claim 2, if the axial dimension of the chamfered portion is set in the range of 1 to 5 mm, the chamfered portion remains on the outer peripheral edge even if the side surface is scraped off by turning. In addition to preventing the occurrence of burrs, a flat portion can be secured without the outer peripheral surface becoming an edge.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the hub bolt insertion hole, the wheel mounting flange is disposed between the hub bolt insertion holes while avoiding the periphery of the hub bolt insertion hole formed on the outer side surface at a uniform circumference. If it is formed in a flower shape having a notch from the pitch circle diameter to the inner diameter side, weight reduction can be achieved without impairing the strength and rigidity of the hub wheel.

According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, the wheel mounting flange is formed in a disc shape, and is provided with hub bolt insertion holes into which hub bolts are press-fitted in a circumferentially uniform manner, including these hub bolt insertion holes. Thus, if a rib portion extending radially from the flange base portion and being thickened is formed by forging and a predetermined chamfered portion is formed at the end portion of the rib portion, the side surface of the rib portion is turned. Even if it is formed in a desired shape and size in the process, burrs are not generated on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface and are not curled up on the side surface side, and burrs need not be removed in the turning process. Therefore, while ensuring the strength and rigidity of the hub wheel, the weight and size can be reduced, and the cost can be reduced by reducing the number of steps.

According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, the outer member integrally has a vehicle body mounting flange attached to the suspension device on the outer periphery, and the vehicle body mounting flange has a plurality of bolt insertion holes formed in the outer peripheral portion. The part except for the vicinity of the bolt insertion hole is notched by forging, and only the formation part of each bolt insertion hole is formed in a shape projecting radially to the outer diameter side. If a predetermined chamfered portion is formed on the periphery, weight reduction can be achieved without impairing the strength and rigidity of the outer member, and the side surface of the vehicle body mounting flange can be made into a desired shape and size by a turning process. When forming, burrs are not generated on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface and are not curled up on the side surface, and burrs are not removed in the turning process. Therefore, while ensuring strength and rigidity, it is possible to reduce the cost by reducing the number of steps while reducing the weight and size.

The wheel bearing device according to the present invention has an outer member in which a double row outer rolling surface is formed on the inner periphery, and a wheel mounting flange at the end on the outboard side, and the outer periphery in the axial direction. A hub ring formed with a small-diameter step that extends, and at least one inner ring press-fitted into the small-diameter step of the hub ring. In a wheel bearing device comprising an inner member having a surface formed therein and a double row rolling element that is slidably accommodated between both rolling surfaces, a forging process is performed on an outer peripheral edge of the wheel mounting flange. A predetermined chamfered part is formed by this, and this chamfered part is formed at both ends of the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange. , Burrs occur on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface and creep into the side surface Never, burr removal is unnecessary in the turning process. Therefore, while ensuring strength and rigidity, it is possible to reduce the cost by reducing the number of steps while reducing the weight and size.

It has a vehicle body mounting flange that is attached to the suspension system on the outer periphery, an outer member with a double row outer rolling surface formed on the inner periphery, and a wheel mounting flange that is integrated on the end on the outboard side. A hub wheel having one inner rolling surface facing the outer rolling surface of the double row on the outer periphery, a small-diameter step portion extending in the axial direction from the inner rolling surface, and a small-diameter step portion of the hub wheel An inner member comprising an inner ring formed on the outer periphery and formed with the other inner rolling surface facing the outer rolling surface of the double row on the outer periphery, and accommodated in a freely rollable manner between the both rolling surfaces. A wheel bearing device comprising a double row rolling element, wherein the wheel mounting flange avoids the periphery of a hub bolt insertion hole that is perforated at a uniform circumference on a side surface on the outer side by forging. In between, the notch from the pitch circle diameter of this hub bolt insertion hole to the inner diameter side Is formed in a flower shape having a outer peripheral edge of the wheel mounting flange, chamfer axial dimension is set in the range of 1~5mm is formed.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
1 is a longitudinal sectional view showing a first embodiment of a wheel bearing device according to the present invention, FIG. 2 is a side view of FIG. 1, and FIGS. 3A to 3C are forging steps of a hub wheel. FIG. 4A is a front view showing a single hub wheel, FIG. 4B is an enlarged cross-sectional view taken along line IV-IV in FIG. 5A, and FIG. 5 is forging of the outer member. It is explanatory drawing which shows a process. In the following description, the side closer to the outer side of the vehicle in a state assembled to the vehicle is referred to as the outer side (left side in the drawing), and the side closer to the center is referred to as the inner side (right side in the drawing).

This wheel bearing device is referred to as a third generation for rotatably supporting the driven wheel, and is composed of a double row of the inner member 1, the outer member 2, and the two members 1 and 2 accommodated so as to roll freely. Rolling elements (balls) 3 and 3 are provided. Here, the inner member 1 indicates a hub ring 4 and an inner ring 5 press-fitted into the hub ring 4.

The hub wheel 4 integrally has a wheel mounting flange (hereinafter referred to as a wheel mounting arm) 6 that is divided into four radially extending at the outer end of the outer periphery, and the circumference of the wheel mounting arm 6 or the like. Hub bolts 6a for fastening the wheels are planted at the arrangement positions. The wheel mounting arm 6 is formed by notching a portion except the vicinity of the hub bolt insertion hole 6b and having a width substantially the same as that of each hub bolt insertion hole 6b and projecting radially from the annular base, that is, the brake pilot portion 6c. Has been. As a result, when the outer member 2 is fastened to the knuckle, the knuckle bolt can be easily fastened with a tightening tool or the like without being obstructed by the wheel mounting arm 6, thereby simplifying the assembling work. be able to.

On the outer periphery of the hub wheel 4, one (outer side) inner rolling surface 4a and a small-diameter step portion 4b extending in the axial direction from the inner rolling surface 4a are formed, and an inner ring 5 is predetermined on the small-diameter step portion 4b. It is press-fitted through a shimeshiro. The other (inner side) inner rolling surface 5 a is formed on the outer periphery of the inner ring 5. And the crimping part 4c is formed by carrying out the plastic deformation of the edge part of the small diameter step part 4b to radial direction outward. The inner ring 5 is fixed in the axial direction with respect to the hub wheel 4 by the caulking portion 4c, and has a so-called self-retaining structure. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the weight and size while securing the strength and rigidity of the hub wheel 4. Moreover, since it is not necessary to control the preload amount by tightening the inner ring firmly with a nut or the like as in the prior art, it is possible to simplify the incorporation into the vehicle and maintain the preload amount for a long time. In addition, the number of parts can be greatly reduced, and the cost can be reduced in combination with the improvement of the incorporation. The wheel bearing according to the present invention is not limited to the illustrated third generation structure. For example, although not illustrated, the first or second generation structure in which a pair of inner rings are press-fitted into the small-diameter step portion of the hub wheel. It may be.

On the inner periphery of the outer member 2, double-row outer rolling surfaces 2a, 2a are formed opposite to the double-row inner rolling surfaces 4a, 5a of the inner member 1, and both the rolling surfaces 2a, 4a are formed. And the double row rolling elements 3 and 3 are accommodated so that rolling is possible via the holder | retainer 7 between 2a and 5a. Further, a seal 8 is attached to the outer end of the outer member 2 to seal the opening of the annular space formed between the outer member 2 and the inner member 1. On the other hand, a cup-shaped seal cap (not shown) is attached to the inner end of the outer member 2 to close the opening of the outer member 2. The seal 8 and the seal cap prevent leakage of lubricating grease sealed inside the bearing and intrusion of rainwater, dust, and the like from the outside into the bearing.

Further, the outer member 2 integrally has a vehicle body mounting flange 2b attached to a knuckle (not shown) constituting a suspension device on the outer periphery, and a plurality of bolt insertion holes 9 are formed on the outer periphery of the vehicle body mounting flange 2b. It has been drilled. The vehicle body mounting flange 2b is formed in a shape in which a portion excluding the vicinity of the bolt insertion hole 9 in the outer peripheral portion thereof is cut out, and only a portion where each bolt insertion hole 9 is formed projects radially to the outer diameter side. That is, the vehicle body mounting flange 2b is divided into a plurality of partial flanges 10 separated in the circumferential direction. And it is fixed to the knuckle by a knuckle bolt (not shown) that penetrates the bolt insertion hole 9. Further, a cylindrical knuckle pilot portion 2c extending in the axial direction from the vehicle body mounting flange 2b is formed at the inner end of the outer member 2, and the knuckle is fitted to the outer diameter surface of the knuckle pilot portion 2c. Is done.

Thus, the outer member 2 is formed with the vehicle body mounting flange 2b composed of a plurality of partial flanges 10 extending radially on the outer periphery, so that weight reduction can be achieved without impairing the strength and rigidity of the outer member 2. be able to. The knuckle pilot portion 2c may be provided with notches at a plurality of locations in the circumferential direction, and may be intermittently formed in a protruding piece shape. Thereby, further weight reduction can be achieved without reducing the rigidity of the outer member 2.

The hub wheel 4 is formed of medium carbon steel containing carbon of 0.40 to 0.80 wt% such as S53C, and the surface hardness is increased by induction hardening on the inboard side base portion and the small diameter step portion 4b of the wheel mounting arm 6. Curing treatment is performed in the range of 58 to 64 HRC. The caulking portion 4c is an unquenched portion having a surface hardness of 25HRC or less after forging. As a result, the strength and rigidity of the hub wheel 4 can be secured, and fretting wear of the fitting surface with the inner ring 5 can be prevented, and the durability of the hub wheel 4 is improved. In addition, workability when the caulking portion 4c is plastically deformed can be improved, and generation of cracks or the like during processing can be prevented to improve quality reliability.

The outer member 2 is formed of medium carbon steel containing 0.40 to 0.80 wt% of carbon, such as S53C, like the hub wheel 4, and the double row outer rolling surfaces 2a and 2a are surfaced by induction hardening. Hardening is performed in the range of 58 to 64 HRC. On the other hand, the inner ring 5 is made of high carbon chrome bearing steel such as SUJ2, and is hardened in the range of 58 to 64 HRC up to the core part by quenching. In addition, although the double row angular contact ball bearing which used the rolling elements 3 and 3 as a ball | bowl was illustrated here, it is not restricted to this, The double row tapered roller bearing which uses a tapered roller for a rolling element may be sufficient.

Here, in the present embodiment, the hub wheel 4 is manufactured by a forging process as shown in FIG. That is, as shown in FIG. 4A, the hub wheel 4 ′ has an upper die 11a having an inner peripheral surface that matches the outer peripheral surface of a desired shape including the inner rolling surface, and is opposed to the upper die 11a in the axial direction. And it is formed with the forge metal mold | die 11 which consists of the lower mold | type 11b which has a desired shape. And these upper mold | type 11a and lower mold | type 11b collide with each other via the annular cavity part 12 by the outer peripheral surface of wheel mounting arm 6 'so that a forging raw material may flow easily to the outer periphery of wheel mounting arm 6'. It is configured as follows. As a result, as shown in (b), a fin-like burr 13 is formed on the outer periphery of the wheel mounting arm 6 'of the hub wheel 4'. The burrs 13 are sheared and removed by the punching die 14 in the final step shown in FIG. 4C, and a predetermined radius of curvature r is provided at both ends of the outer periphery of the wheel mounting arm 6 ′ manufactured by the forging step. A chamfered portion 15 is formed.

As shown in FIG. 4, in the hub wheel 4 ′ manufactured by such a forging process, the outer side surface 6d of the wheel mounting arm 6 ′ including the outer peripheral surface is formed in a desired shape and size by the turning process. . At this time, since the chamfered portions 15 are formed at both ends of the outer periphery, burrs are generated at the outer peripheral edge of the side surface 6d, and the side surface 6d is not curled up. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove burrs on the side surface 6d of the wheel mounting arm 6 ', and the cost can be reduced by reducing the number of steps.

The chamfered portion 15 of the wheel mounting arm 6 ′ in the hub wheel 4 ′ manufactured in the forging process has an axial dimension L set in a range of 1 to 5 mm, preferably 2 to 4 mm. That is, the side surface 6d of the wheel mounting arm 6 'is usually cut by about 1 mm by turning, so that the axial dimension L is required to be at least 1 mm, and if the axial dimension 15a becomes too large, the wheel mounting arm 6' Since the flat part of the outer peripheral surface is reduced and becomes an edge, the upper limit is set to 5 mm.

Further, in the present embodiment, the outer member 2 is also formed with the outer flange 2 having the chamfered portion 17 in the forging process in the same manner as the hub wheel 4 in the forging process. That is, as shown in FIG. 5, the upper die 16a having an inner peripheral surface that matches the outer peripheral surface of a desired shape including the knuckle pilot portion, and the lower die having a desired shape that is opposed to the upper die 16a in the axial direction. It is formed by a forging die 16 composed of a die 16b. The upper die 16a and the lower die 16b are brought into contact with each other via the annular cavity 18 on the outer peripheral surface of the partial flange 10 'so that the forging material easily flows to the outer periphery of the partial flange 10'. It is configured. Thereby, a fin-like burr 19 is formed on the outer periphery of the partial flange 10 ′ of the outer member 2 ′. The burr 19 is sheared and removed by a punching die in a final process (not shown), but the chamfered part 17 having a predetermined radius of curvature R is formed at both ends of the outer periphery of the partial flange 10 ′ manufactured by such a forging process. Is formed.

In the outer member 2 ′ manufactured by such a forging process, the outer side surface, the inner side surface of the partial flange 10 ′, and the knuckle pilot portion are formed in a desired shape and size by the turning process. At this time, since the chamfered portions 19 are formed at both end portions of the outer periphery, burrs are generated on the outer peripheral edge of the side surface, and the side surface is not curled. Accordingly, it is not necessary to remove the burrs on the side surfaces of the partial flange 10 ', and the cost can be further reduced by reducing the number of steps. In addition, the chamfered portion 19 of the partial flange 10 ′ in the outer member 2 ′ manufactured in the forging process has an axial dimension L set in the range of 1 to 5 mm, preferably 2 to 4 mm, like the hub wheel 4 ′. Has been.

Here, as the wheel mounting flange, the wheel mounting arm 6 formed so as to protrude radially from the annular base portion is illustrated, but the present invention is not limited to this, and avoids the periphery of the hub bolt insertion hole as in the prior art. It may be a wheel mounting flange having a notch deeply formed between the hub bolt insertion holes to the inner diameter side from the pitch circle diameter of the hub bolt insertion holes.

FIG. 6A is a front view showing a hub wheel in the second embodiment of the wheel bearing device according to the present invention, and FIG. 6B is an enlarged cross-sectional view taken along line VI-VI in FIG. is there. In addition, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the component and site | part same as embodiment mentioned above, and the duplicate description is abbreviate | omitted.

The hub wheel 20 of this wheel bearing device has a wheel mounting flange 21 at one end, and as shown in FIG. 5A, the wheel mounting flange 21 is formed in a disc shape and has hub bolts (see FIG. A hub bolt insertion hole 22 into which a not shown) is press-fitted is formed. The wheel mounting flange 21 includes a thin portion 23 whose thickness is gradually reduced toward the outer periphery, and a rib portion 24 which includes each hub bolt insertion hole 22 and extends radially from the flange base portion and is thickened. It is configured. This prevents the bending rigidity of the wheel mounting flange 21 from being lowered while reducing the weight. Here, as in the above-described embodiment, chamfering (not shown) is formed at both ends of the outer periphery of the wheel mounting flange 21 by a forging process, and the end of the rib portion 24 has a predetermined radius of curvature r. A chamfered portion 25 is formed.

As shown in (b), the rib portion 24 manufactured in the forging process has a side surface 24a having a desired dimension in the turning process. The chamfered portion 25 has a turning allowance and the like as in the above-described embodiment. In consideration of the above, the axial dimension L is set in the range of 1 to 5 mm, preferably 2 to 4 mm. Thus, since the chamfered portion 25 is formed at the end portion 24a of the rib portion 24, burrs are generated at the outer peripheral edge of the side surface 24a in turning, and the burr portion is not curled toward the side surface 24a side. Therefore, it is not necessary to remove the burrs on the side surface 24a of the rib portion 24, and the cost can be reduced by reducing the number of steps.

The embodiment of the present invention has been described above, but the present invention is not limited to such an embodiment, and is merely an example, and various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
