すべての繊維紡糸はヒルズ(Hills)複合繊維ラインで行う。該ラインは、2.4cc/回転メルトポンプに連結された2つの1インチ押出機を含む。3.4:1〜4:1 L/Dを有する144の0.35〜0.65mm丸穴付きで、シースとしてサイドAを、コアとしてサイドB付きの、ヒルズのシースおよびコア二成分紡糸パックをすべての繊維紡糸のために用いる。推定直径は、さらなる機械延伸なしに、溶融延伸によって得られる。ダイを出ると、冷やした急冷空気(14±2℃)を用いて溶融繊維を凝固させる。次に繊維を、巻取機で巻き取る前に2つのセラミック被覆冷ロール上で延伸する。冷ロールおよび巻取機の両方とも、何の冷延伸も起こらないように同じスピードで動作する。
レオロジー
レオロジー・データを、パラレルプレートおよびキャピラリーレオメーターを用いてすべての純樹脂およびブレンドについて得る。パラレルプレートレオメーターはレオメトリックス(Rheometrics)RMS−800(シリアルナンバー021−043)である。キャピラリーレオメーターはゲットフェルト・レログラフ(Goettfert Rheograph)2003である。パラレルプレートレオメーターのみに窒素パージを備え付ける。パラレルプレートレオメーターは0.1〜100ラジアン/秒のデータを与え、キャピラリーレオメーターは100〜10,000 1/秒のデータを与える。
このラインでの先行複合繊維作業に基づいて、凝固ポイントはすべての延伸繊維についてダイの下方おおよそ100cmであると予期される。これは、すべての繊維についておよそ10秒−1の伸長速度に相当する。
顕微鏡法を用いて元のブレンドならびにそれらから形成された繊維中の分散相のサイズを分析する。当初ブレンドを観察するために、9ブレンドのそれぞれの光学顕微鏡写真を撮る。各ブレンドのプラークを、少量(おおよそ2グラム)のサンプルを250℃に加熱し、それを2片のアルミニウム間で10,000psiで15秒間圧縮し、それを冷却して室温に戻すことによって作製する。
繊維摩擦は、ASTM D3412に記載されるキャプスタン(Capstan)法に類似の試験方法を用いて静的および動的条件で評価される。該標準は、図7に示されるように、一端に一定張力(T1)および反対端に測定張力が加わった固定糸付き糸被覆シリンダーを回転させることを要求する。

不混和性ブレンドの機械的性質への影響を測定するために、繊維サンプルを引張強度および伸びについて試験する。紡糸スピードだけでなく様々なシース組成物も試験する。シースは何の感知できる強度も持たないであろうと仮定する。従って、繊維の引張特性はコアのみの関数であろう。12.5パーセントおよび20パーセント・シースの繊維は対照材料の強度および伸び特性の87.5パーセントおよび80パーセントを有するであろうと予期される。表5は、引張試験を受ける繊維のまとめを示す。
Claims (11)
- それぞれが異なる粘度を有する少なくとも2つの熱可塑性ポリマーの混合物を含む繊維であって、該混合物が0.5から20mN/mの界面張力を有し、かつ、該混合物が繊維表面の一部を構成し、前記繊維がシース・コア形状の複合繊維であり、かつ、少なくとも1つの熱可塑性ポリマーがポリオレフィン連続相であり、該混合物中の少なくとも1つのポリマーが微粒子形状にある分散ポリマーであり、前記シースが前記粒子の厚さより小さい平均サイズを有する、繊維。
- 第1熱可塑性ポリマーの粘度対第2熱可塑性ポリマーの粘度の比が1.5から10まで、または0.1から0.05までである請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記シースが20容量パーセント未満を構成する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記コアがプロピレンポリマーを含む請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記コアがホモポリマープロピレンポリマーを含む請求項4に記載の繊維。
- 前記マトリックス・ポリマーが少なくとも10℃または前記分散ポリマーの融点より低い融点を有する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記マトリックス・ポリマーがある融点を有し、そして前記分散ポリマーが非晶質であり、かつ、該マトリックス・ポリマーの融点より10℃以下低いガラス転移温度を有する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記シースおよびコア中のマトリックス・ポリマーがそれぞれ互いから30パーセント内の粘度を有する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記混合物が250℃で100 1/秒で170Pa・秒以下の粘度を有する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記分散ポリマーが1ミクロンより大きい平均厚さを有する請求項1に記載の繊維。
- 前記分散微粒子が繊維表面上に凸凹を形成する請求項1に記載の繊維。
