Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a cutter used for cutting a brittle material, and more particularly to a cutter used for cutting glass.
[0002]
[Prior art]
First, the case of glass will be described as an example of cutting a brittle material.
The following methods are widely used as methods for cutting glass. That is, a diamond cutter having a diamond tip or a wheel cutter made of cemented carbide scratches the glass surface (called scribe), generates a crack near the glass surface, and a bending moment or impact force along the crack. Is used to cause cracks to grow deep inside the glass and divide.

For example, FIG. 19 shows a state where a crack is generated in the
[0004]
When the pressing pressure is large, an 8-
[0005]
Therefore, it is important to avoid horizontal cracks when scribing the glass surface with a glass cutter.
[0006]
Typical factors that affect this scribe are as follows.
(1) Cutter: Type, material, cutting edge angle, (wheel diameter: for wheel cutter)
(2) Glass: Properties near the surface, glass composition, residual stress
(3) Scribing conditions: cutting edge load, scribing speed
(4) Environment: Atmosphere temperature and humidity, presence or absence of cutter oil [0007]
In order to accurately cut a thick glass plate, it is necessary to obtain deep vertical cracks. For this purpose, it is preferable to increase the cutting edge angle and increase the cutting edge load. In the case of a wheel cutter, it is also effective to increase the wheel diameter.
[0008]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
When scribing the glass surface with a glass cutter by hand, the load applied to the blade edge is often not sufficient at the beginning of scribing. For this reason, it often occurs that an effective vertical crack cannot be obtained. A scribe portion not accompanied by the occurrence of this effective vertical crack is referred to as an “empty portion” in this specification. At the time of this empty cutting, there is no crisp sound peculiar to scribe accompanying the occurrence of vertical cracks.
[0009]
If an effective vertical crack is not obtained at the scribe start point, for example, when the glass plate is divided by applying a bending stress, the cutting start portion cannot be accurately divided, and the glass called the corner (s) There was a problem that the remaining part of the division occurred. In particular, it has been difficult to obtain an effective vertical crack from the scribe start point for an extremely thin glass plate used for a liquid crystal display panel or the like.
[0010]
An object of the present invention is to provide a cutter for cutting a brittle material capable of generating an effective vertical crack from a scribe start point with a simple mechanism. It is another object of the present invention to provide a scriber using the cutter and a method of scribing by generating an effective vertical crack from the beginning of the scribe.
[0011]
